🚨 Important Update: Xeggex Security Incident 🚨

Dear Community,

We want to inform you about a recent update from Xeggex.com. Earlier today, they shared the following message regarding a security incident:

"Dear users, in this hard time our CEO was hacked, and he lost access to his Telegram account and the Xeggex community group. At this time, we still don’t know all the details about the incident. What’s important is that we have successfully locked down wallets, so user funds are safe. Login issues are currently ongoing as we have disconnected the database from the network to examine everything thoroughly.  More detailed news will follow once we have a clearer picture of the situation."

Unfortunately, there is no further information available at this time.  We were hoping to provide updated details from Xeggex, but they have not yet released any additional public statements.

📢 Important Updates: Azbit Resolved, Xeggex Security, and Future Plans

Dear Pactus Community,

We have some important updates to share with you regarding recent developments and our ongoing efforts to ensure the security and growth of the Pactus ecosystem.

Azbit Deposit Issues Resolved
We are pleased to inform you that Azbit has confirmed that the deposit issues have been successfully resolved. Users can now resume deposits and withdrawals as normal. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time. Please reach out if there any further issues.

Update on Xeggex Security Breach
Regarding the Xeggex security breach, there has been a small update, but not much has changed. Xeggex has stated (https://x.com/xeggex/status/1887592203071152161) they are working with a MongoDB developer to address the issue. However, a full report on the situation has yet to be released, and the details of the breach remain unclear. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as more information becomes available.

Preparations to Protect the Project
In light of the ongoing issues at Xeggex and the potential risk of the exchange not coming back online due to malicious activities, we are taking proactive steps to safeguard the Pactus project.  We are aware there is a considerable amount of PAC on the exchange. Our team is actively working on contingency plans to ensure the continuity and security of our ecosystem, no matter the outcome.

Exploring New Market Opportunities
We are also turning our attention to the current lack of markets for Pactus. Our team is exploring all available possibilities to expand our presence on reputable centralized and decentralized exchanges and provide our community with more options for trading and liquidity. We will keep you updated as we make progress in this area.

📢  Important Announcement Regarding Xeggex Exploit

Since January 31, many #Pactus users have reported issues while using the #Xeggex exchange.
On February 2, Xeggex became inaccessible, and an announcement was made stating that the CEO’s Telegram account had been hacked.

At that time, the Pactus team offered to help the Xeggex development team recover from the hack. Unfortunately, our offer was ignored.
Soon after, it was discovered that a large amount of funds lost from Xeggex had been moved to other exchanges.

Based on recent announcements and actions by the Xeggex team, we believe they may be conducting an exit scam, putting users’ assets at serious risk.

Currently, the Xeggex deposit address for the Pactus blockchain holds over 500,000 PAC coins, which is about 50% of the circulating supply at the time of the incident.
To protect users, the Pactus development team has proposed PIP-38 https://pips.pactus.org/PIPs/pip-38, a plan to monitor the Xeggex deposit address and prevent any malicious movement of PAC coins.

PIP-38 introduces a secure mechanism to monitor and freeze the Xeggex deposit address. If Xeggex resumes normal operations, the address can be unfrozen.
To support this initiative, we have released Pactus version 1.7.1 https://pactus.org/download/ . We urge all validators on the Pactus blockchain to upgrade their nodes immediately.

It’s important to note that the Pactus community integrated Pactus with Xeggex, and the Pactus team was not involved in listing Pactus on Xeggex.
However, we cannot ignore this incident. It is not in our nature to turn a blind eye. We believe action must be taken to ensure accountability in cases of fraud.

To help not only the Pactus community but all Xeggex users, we have created a dedicated channel in the Pactus Discord server for further discussions.
The Xeggex team has unprofessionally closed or restricted all their community platforms, leaving users without a place to communicate.

We welcome all Xeggex users to join our Discord, unite, and work together to find a solution. This dedicated channel will serve as a platform for discussion, collaboration, and planning.

Please note that Pactus team will not manage this channel. We have no extra resources and time to manage this channel. It will be moderated by volunteers from the Xeggex user community.

We kindly ask users to post only in the designated channel and avoid disrupting other discussions in our Discord server.
To help with this, we have created a new Discord role: @xeggex_unofficial
If you’re interested in moderating the discussion channel, please open a support ticket to apply for this role.
