In looking for jobs here in forum, profile or accounts with a higher rank are most likely to get noticed more since merits are symbols of trust and reliability so it is really not a surprise that people would want to fake their merits in order to make a living

Sorry, but I don't truly completely understand what the description of the problem is. The functionality of merits and the merit system has been already explained several times in the Meta sección of the forum, so you should start by reading those explanations.
Also, it may be just me but I feel this topic/thread would be more fitting to be move to the Meta section of the forum or to the Reputation section, instead of remaining here. This thread does not seem to have anything to do with politics or society. In my opinion.

Keep in mind that merits are sent at the discretion of each user, the administration of the forum does not moderate the use of forum, they simply ask for others to send them to what one would consider to be good quality post or useful posts.

Perhaps, when you learn the use of punctuation and paragraph properly you might start having merits since that's bothering you. You have spent almost a year in the forum and you still don't know the right board to post in or how the merit system works, it's evident you don't care about the forum but you are after personal gain. If this is how you choose to continue here, merits is obviously not for your type.

The comment above mine already suggested where your post should belong, you should move the post to one of the suggested board. I doubt if you know how to move a thread. Scroll down and you'll see move topic on the buttom of this page and click it to select prefer board to move it to.

Merits are not symbol of trust and reliability but rather a sign that your post are informatve and helpful to the community. We have users here with much merits but are not trusted. There's a trust system under your profile which shows how trusted and reliable you are but again, this trust is not based on the community decision. It's individual opinion and how they feel about the person so it's not a guarantee but in most cases, users with positive trust are not likely to scam.

I'm hoping that this system will increase post quality by:
 - Forcing people to post high-quality stuff in order to rank up. If you just post garbage, you will never get even 1 merit point, and you will therefore never be able to put links in your signature, etc.

And for those who are giver of merit

I encourage people to give merit to posts that are objectively high-quality, not just posts that you agree with.

Now, you should re-evaluate your posts and improve your posting habits.

I don't think I know who op is directing this to but I don't think anyone would want to waste merit just like you have lamented. Honestly I felt your pain probably been on this forum for long and nit having enough merit to showcase. The problem might not be from you actually if you are a good poster and you have a nice contents. Actually for you to keep having merits in this forum, you need to be consistent in how you post and the enquiring you are making.

 Sometimes you might have a good posting habits but still not getting merits as you are expected. There are some threads on the forum you can post link to some of the quality posts you had made for meriting. At least this would aid your growth if you are known to be a good poster in the forum. I would advise you to be patient and keep to posting style.

fillippone, I know you are a well-intentioned merit source to help many users earn merit and rank up. The "problem", if we can call it that at all, is that the OP probably does not understand what "sMerits" are and probably thinks of the number of merits that each member has in their profile as something that should be shared with others - and when in the whole include the Bible in the story, then the meaning of his post would be "ask and it will be given to you".

I would suggest that before philosophizing about the merits, the OP definitely works on spelling - because it's not "sence", but sense.

Not everyone that claims to be patient and enthusiastic can really practice it. Overtime when what they want doesn’t work for them, they will still come back and still bring up the same issue that is stopping them from achieving their aim. Are you canvassing for merits? I guess you have to work so well for it as it is not easy to comeby. You might have some points that some things are happening in the forum that are suspicious, but can you prove it? That's the issue, and I had said it a while ago that some senders of merits could be sentimental, we are all humans, so nothing is perfect here.

We can only continue to appeal to those who have so much of it to send what they have. I try my best to send mine even as I reserve a little for so much important posts that will pain me if I can't merit. And maybe this is the time that theymos can also begin to rotten the sMerits that remains redundant for months and find a way to make it negative to the profile of the users. Maybe until then we can all take his advice of sending our sMerits seriously.

But for you, continue to post quality stuff, and before you know it, it is the merits that will be chasing you and not you chasing it.

Thanks for checking it out. When newbies complain about not getting merits, they never consider the problem might be from their lack of creativity. They only see themselves as oppressed by the merit system.
I wonder if OP and this user have any connection since they both have the same opinion of the merit system. Looking at the other user’s profile, there is a huge difference in posting style as the latter writes so well. I don’t think the two accounts cannot be operated by the same  person. It could just be that the newbies are not happy about how other users spend their smerits.

I consider this board somewhat vague as OP didn't capture or synergise the topic and the OP.

The sMerit is totally at the control and use of he who's account has it, it is not in moderator or anyone's place to decide what a forum user does with his sMerit.

But, I see no reason why merit will not be given if your contribution is valuable to the forum and user. Hence, you have to first make a meaningful contribution to the forum that appeals to the sMerit owner before expecting to have an sMerit from such person.
