The schedule strength has not been great but they are in a good spot coming off the loss coupled with Iowa coming off a 2-0 homestand. The Hawkeyes moved to 2-3 in the conference with wins over Rutgers and Nebraska as they are now 9-1 in Iowa City but hit the road where they are winless at 0-4. The results are as bad as the record as Iowa has lost those games by an average of 16.3 ppg and it covered only one of those games which was against Creighton but it was getting 12.5 points in Omaha. Granted, neither one of these Big Ten representatives possess winning records in conference play thus far this season. But this is still a pretty exciting matchup. The Golden Gophers take it on the road to Jack Breslin Student Events Center to face the Spartans. Yes, I know Minnesota has lost and failed to cover their last two outings on the road in Indiana and at home against Iowa. But this is still a team that overall, owns a very impressive record of 12-5. Furthermore, they have been money against the spread, covering 14 of 17 games this season. They have covered two of the last three meetings against today's opponent. And I really do feel giving them more than double-digits is a mistake. With all respect to Michigan State, I just don't see this team competing in the conference this season. Yes, they did rebound from two consecutive road losses at Northwestern and Illinois, to return home and take down Rutgers four days ago. While both teams have a couple of players listed as questionable or out this evening (check status), trust me when I tell you, the Golden Gophers still have the personnel to make this game a very competitive matchup. Statistically, both teams are almost mirror images of one another, both in scoring and in points allowed. I will admit that from beyond the arc, the Spartans have a slight advantage. But this game will be won in the trenches. And I believe the Golden Gophers have the height and the muscle to dominate at both end of the court on the boards. They will certainly keep this one a lot closer than the point spread. Take Minnesota. Thank you.

The bad news is that Mississippi State hasn’t won a true road game this season going 0-3 SU and ATS. The Bulldogs did win the last meeting in March 69-68 in OT and have won four of the past six meetings. The Gators have lost four of six and say that they must be more physical...like you just turn that on anytime you wish (either you are or you are not, it is a style of play).
