If an individual is addicted he'll continue gambling regardless of him being financial stable or not. There are some individual that'll gamble with the last money they have due to addiction. The only way a gambling addict can stop gambling is when he seeks the help of a professional or have his family helping him recover.

As an individual gambling, don't use gambling as a way of making money but use it as a way of entertaining yourself and you'll be less likely be addicted to gambling. C'mon man, you gotta do better than that. If you really couldn't control your urges get yourself admitted to a rehabilitation clinic and get treated not only for your gambling addiction but for your depression as well. I have a hunch that you've become addicted to gambling as a result of your depressive episodes which lead to you secluding yourself from the public. And whether I'm right or I'm wrong matters little cause at this point it's either you quit cold turkey and swear not to enter or touch any casino ever again, or you find a way to do so, with the most effective being that you get admitted to a rehabilitation center.

The fact that you're still able to find the time to do stuff instead of gambling is a clear indication that you can steer away from it even if it's just a matter of hours or minutes. You can help yourself if you believe that casinos are manipulating people, it might be the unbelievable true that many will find hard to accept, so why don't you accept this and be free from gambling addict? It means you still have a doubt that you might be wrong, I mean if I can make up my mind that gambling is a complete fraud right now I will never gamble again, it's that easy, because I believe it's really complete fraud.

If people started to gamble because they wanted to make money, that is something we can understand, but at some point they need to realize that this is not possible and they should change their attitude towards gambling, and if they cannot do this then maybe they should think about leaving gambling behind, as it is obvious they cannot really deal with it in a healthy way, however there is many people that have acknowledge that fact but refuse to stop gambling because they want to recover the money they lost, not realizing they will just lose more money if they keep chasing their losses.

Some people realize it. Actually, there are people who after a while, they give up on chasing losses and just focus on the fun part of gambling, in my opinion the key to do it is forgetting about the losses one has accumulated in the casino.
I have read people here in the forum (in this section) who have even suggested others to keep track of their losses so they can know how much they are still supposed to earn from gambling before "quitting". It is a coping mechanism, to be honest, one which serves very well to the purpose of the casino to make as much profit as possible from the volume of people like that.

The saddest part is one encounters some guy in the casino or the internet who claims to have found a way to break the code of the casino and make constant wins out gambling: by playing in specific slots, on specific days of the week or waiting for the casino to perform maintenance on their machines before playing. Whatever, we all know how it ends up in the end when those who chase losses and try to break the code.
