I agree with @LoyceV. But i'd like to emphasize that it's okay to ask question on those board.
I would be grateful if you reconsider your trust feedback on my profile.

I see many member only reconsider such things after some time, so ask me again in a year or more.

Hello,

I notice that the Bitcoin database is stored sequentially in blk*.dat files, with an average size between 128 to 134MB. I would like to know how this average size is determined and if there are any tests that demonstrate this size is the most efficient.

Regards.
Numerous variables, such as the volume of transactions, block size, and data storage needs, affect the size of the Bitcoin blockchain database, which houses all transaction records, but it keeps growing as new transactions are added to the network. And also size is subjected to change and may have changed from my previous update.

Since efficiency varies depending on the situation, there are no certain tests that show the size of the Bitcoin database to be the most efficient. In contrast, Bitcoin's database size is frequently found to be more efficient than that of conventional banking systems when it comes to specific tasks like transaction processing and verification.

1. blk*.dat files and Bitcoin blockchain are 2 different thing. blk*.dat files refer to how Bitcoin Core software store Bitcoin blockchain data, where each full node software could store Bitcoin blockchain data differently.
2. It doesn't answer why each blk*.dat files have size with average size between 128 to 134MB.
3. While it's possible to store arbitrary data on Bitcoin, it's not designed as data storage.
4. There's no strong correlation between database size and transaction processing/verification.

Does anyone have a list of cloud storage services that will accept BTC? which one is the best? I think someone had a non KYC list which had some.

I have found Koofr but I want to see some more to compare prices. Someone mentioned Sync but it requires KYC or at least when paying they ask for all details.

Also, what happens to your files if you forget to pay? they delete them or they keep them? I have never used this.
Although I believe it was extremely irresponsible of you to forget to pay for what was delivered to you, when someone does not pay, their account or file may be disabled or they may not receive the thing they purchased. Additionally, you must carefully follow all instructions when making a purchase to avoid losing money or having your account or file blacklisted.

1. Cloud storage usually doesn't lock your file immediately if you stop paying them. Here are some relevant webpage i found,
2. User shinosuke ask question in example scenario, but it was responded as if user shinosuke actually forget to pay.

Lightning Network
The Lightning Network (LN) allows users of a digital wallet to transfer BTC to another without any fees. This is achieved by adding a second layer to the Bitcoin network to enable transactions between parties off the blockchain(off-chain transactions).

I think you're missing out something from this part that you said transfer without any fee, lightning network is not a zero fee rate to use for making transaction despite is a second layer transaction, it is rather made subsidized, which means it has a lower fee rate and not a zero fee rate to use it, it addresses the issues of scalability, affordability and transaction speed all together.

LN was meant to address Bitcoin scalability, thereby processing faster and lower cost transactions on the Bitcoin network. There have been speculations that the LN method isn't secure, as it exposes people's BTC to theft, but I hope to use it someday since I haven't come across any articles of stolen BTC due to LN. Please pardon my excitement, but I think LN is really cool.

You may not have to believe in what everyone is saying, in other for you to learn more further on lightning network, read these threads

All Lightning network threads in one.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5345664.0

1. Nobody subsidize fee when you use LN, whether we're talking about routing fee or on-chain TX fee when opening/closing LN channel.
2. Zero fee is still possible if LN node between sender and receiver choose not to charge any routing fee.

Which Bitcoin wallet(not Bitcoin Core) allows users to send any fee?
Lets say I want to send a transaction with $0.01 fee or 0.00000001.
I know miners will never process the transaction, I see people doing this kind of transfer all around blockchain but I never found a wallet that allows it and my laptop has only 512GB, I can not download BTC core for this.

Don't make a too low transaction which may result into dust, others are doing doesn't mean it the right thing everyone can also do, the kind of wallet we make use doesn't determine the fee rate we are been charged, we only need to know when the mempool is less busy to accommodate lower transaction fees, our wallets used can also be used to modify the fee rate to a little adjustable rate which we can be able to afford for the transaction we want to make, so i will say that we make use of the kind of wallet that allows for that like electrum or blue wallet among others.

1. @entropybit asking about which wallet let user create TX with low fee rate, not create TX which create dust (output with small value).
2. Other points are correct, but not relevant with quoted @entropybit question.
3. Electrum (GUI desktop version) doesn't let you create TX with fee wanted by @entropybit.

When it comes to privacy matters, we should know that it's either we have it or not having it at all, I know quite alright before now that Wasabi has been a good recommendation for use of privacy in the bitcoin community, but later on, there came about the discovery that makes the people doubt about their status quo with privacy offers since their involvement with other entities that does not support for that, I just wish they have always been as how they have started with before everything changed that users are now scared of securing their privacy with them.

Privacy is more complex than we have it or not having it at all. That's why some people talks about privacy threat model. Proton write fairy good blog about it on https://proton.me/blog/what-is-a-threat-model and https://proton.me/blog/internet-privacy.

I think the configuration of the bitcoin core installation has been program by default to execute launch once the software client is being operated or initialized, the same way you happen to launch the software from the data directory, i don't know if ranochigo have additional information on this, but base on by perception, i think it will all run together by default at the same time when the software is launched

This reply is poorly written and it's hard to understand what it actually wanted to say. But it's clear that Bitcoin Core will not run automatically next time after you run it manually for first time.

but idont have these huge specs and also poor internet so it'll take forever
- Bitcoin Core requires just 2 GB of RAM, and about 700 GB for storage, which can be reduced by more than 90% if you enable pruning (with pruned=550).
- How bad Internet connection? Downloading 700 GB shouldn't take more than two days, even in cases with very slow download speed.

I wouldn't experiment with my money, if I were you (it is clear that you don't know what you're doing). You used Bitcoin Core to receive the bitcoin, use it again to recover it.

The problem here that I dont even have 20 gigabytes  free and the internet bad and still limited so If i spent money for getting another space and also for many times renew the internet quota it will be waste of money espicially that I dont know if there's a money or not (if I 100% know there is a money on it I'll spent the money )

In this case then I think it's very simple, if you think you value the quantity of assets worth on that wet with bitcoincore, then you shouldn't hesitate on getting a new device that could have the required specification of what is been needed for you to be able to use bitcoincore on your device, aside it seems you're not getting the whole idea of what had been suggested to you for using the pruning method in achieving this.

This reply isn't helpful since,
1. New device alone wouldn't solve problem of slow connection.
2. Pruning node still require you to download whole blockchain.
3. On older posts, @Sadderr already state he already tried another way to access his Bitcoin.

The thread is too long to ask for info, but has there been a final consensus here on how to treat such accounts?
Is it okay to leave them at least a neutral tag as a warning that they are forum-rank farmers? I believe that the negative tag is too much.

I don't think there's ever going to be consensus on the Trust system.

No. But moderators on technical board have left few neutral or negative feedback to such account. And they sometimes they don't even bother add reference link.

Is it okay to leave them at least a neutral tag as a warning that they are forum-rank farmers? I believe that the negative tag is too much.

Maybe it's okay when moderators also do that. IMO negative tag is okay if those account also share malware, fake software or other action which makes user could lose their Bitcoin easily.

Just learned there's a issue with my ISP. Basically i can't do what i want if i don't pay. Perfect Cry

I suppose running Bitcoin Core without port 8333 is useless for the network, is it?
You are right because running a Bitcoin core without port 8333 is useless for the network. 8333 is the default port of Bitcoin Core. All nodes in the Bitcoin core are used to communicate and collect data from the network. If any of the nodes here have a problem, it stops the connection of all the nodes. Tick the problem with your ISP. What you want cannot be done for free. Try changing the router settings and forwarding the port to 8333. Although port forwarding can put your computer at risk of hacking, do it cautiously and share it with an expert.

1. There's no problem using port other than 8333. Pieter Wuille (one of Bitcoin Core developer) already confirm it on https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/a/116717.
2. If there's problem with one of the connected node, Bitcoin Core would either disconnect or even ban it. It wouldn't stop connection to all other nodes.

This is the first time I have seen this kind of problem. I saw you here for the first time today. This has happened several times, which is likely due to a browser bug. You can clear the data and try again, and it will be resolved. If it is you still need to fix it, you can message support to find out what problem it is causing.

Another user already explain why this reply is technically wrong.

This is the first time I have seen this kind of problem.

This isn't a problem, it's just an extra feature/option provided by the browser OP is using. You get the same dialogue if you are using Chrome but without the option to disable JavaScript dialogues until the next browser launch.

This has happened several times, which is likely due to a browser bug.

Several times? Where? Can you please show us? And, how can a bug create a checkbox followed by a logical question in a dialogue box?  Huh

You can clear the data and try again, and it will be resolved.

As I said above, it's not a problem that needs to be solved, it is just an extra option provided by the browser being used, probably, and clearing the data won't make a difference here.

If it is you still need to fix it, you can message support to find out what problem it is causing.

 Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

But my question is what was that OTP for? And where can I get this OTP? What does it do?
You have made a good point and asked about OTP in the right thread for a solution. OTP is a system code that allows us to log in to our accounts securely. Using this, we log accounts securely. OTP stands for Short-Time Password and is usually used to confirm the correct identity of the user. OTP system is used to secure the account. The OTP is generally sent via SMS, e-mail, or a particular OTP generator application. Account users confirm their identity by entering the OTP received within the specified period and using their account securely.

Read the announcement about this new feature below.
Follow It.

1. OTP usually stands for One Time Password. In addition, acronym for Short-Time Password should be STP rather than OTP.
2. If you read whole thread, @GIF-JOBS ask about OTP on Bitcointalk. Last time i checked, Bitcointalk only use application based for it's OTP. So there's no need to mention SMS or email.

This is the post from the person that asked a question:

Just from the title alone… I wanted to ask what possibly the best wallet to hold bitcoin in?

Before anyone says that it depends on what I need specifically then here is what I am here for. I can not decide which one really is the best based on the things I want. First of all I plan on holding some bitcoin (not huge amount) for a foreseeable future. However I also plan on swapping it for usdt from time to time aka when the price is getting high. I need a wallet that has low fees, preferably decentralized, and is secure.

Any recommendations?

See what lucolo posted:

Bitcoin Core? Space is not even a problem if you enable pruning. I see no reason to use something different.

I corrected him which was the second post, but he quoted me and posted this:

You can use Unstoppable wallet. It has has the swapping feature and it supports bitcoin. It is still one of the best bitcoin wallet. But if you want to hold your coins, cold wallets are better.

Bitcoin Core? Space is not even a problem if you enable pruning. I see no reason to use something different.
He is not referring to Bitcoin Core. He is looking for a good wallet that he can swap bitcoin for USDT and swap USDT back to bitcoin.

Sounds like a very unsafe plan. Let's just hold his BTC in Bitcoin Core and, when time will come, move them everywhere he wants to sell them.

--snip--

Bitcoin Core offer wallet feature, although it doesn't have built-in swap with USDT though. And while Bitcoin Core require you to download 550GB+ blockchain, it fulfill other requirement stated by @purinZ14. But Unstoppable wallet is still good choice for @purinZ14 needs.

To scrape batches of Base58 (legacy) Bitcoin addresses and inquire into their transactions and balances, you can follow these steps:

        1. Identify Reliable Sources:

        • Use blockchain explorers like Blockchain.info, Blockcypher, or Bitaps which provide public data on Bitcoin addresses, transactions, and balances.
        • Look for public forums, repositories, or databases that might list Bitcoin addresses for various purposes (e.g., research, donations).
2. Web Scraping Tools:

        • Utilize web scraping tools and libraries such as Beautiful Soup, Scrapy (Python), or Puppeteer (JavaScript) to extract data from web pages.
        3. Scraping Strategy:

        • Select Target URLs: Identify the URLs of the pages you want to scrape, such as individual address pages on blockchain explorers.
        • Scraping Code: Write scripts to navigate these pages and extract the required data (addresses, transactions, balances).
4. API Access:

        • Many blockchain explorers offer APIs. Sign up for API access which can provide structured data without the need for extensive scraping.
        • Use endpoints to fetch data on addresses, their transactions, and balances.
5. Data Processing:

        • Parse the scraped or fetched data and store it in a database for further analysis.
        • Use tools like pandas (Python) for data manipulation and analysis.
Recommendations:
        • Respect website policies: Make sure to follow the site's terms of service and avoid overloading their servers.
          • Use APIs: Prefer APIs for a more reliable and structured way to access data.
          • Data Storage: Store the data in a local database or cloud storage for better management and analysis.
By following these steps, you can efficiently gather and analyze Base58 Bitcoin addresses, their transactions, and balances.

        1. Thread title "Best way to find batches of Base58 addresses", but his reply is very vague and probably not helpful to OP who already seen more detailed answer.
        2. Manually scrapping web pages is very not efficient, since total Bitcoin address already surpass 1 billion. So there's no point of mentioning web scrapping.
        3. Blockchain.info have become blockchain.com many years ago.

Hey, that sounds frustrating. Have you tried using a password recovery tool like "btcrecover"? It's designed for situations like this where you know part of the password but not the whole thing. It can help you brute-force the missing characters.

This reply isn't helpful since other user already mention "btcrecover" with more explanation.
Hey, I’d recommend trying out Bitcoin Core with the command line interface. It’s pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it. You can download it from the official Bitcoin website. After installing, run bitcoind to start the daemon. You might need to play around with the bitcoin.conf file for your settings. For solo mining, make sure you have a high-speed internet connection and decent hardware to increase your chances.

This reply also isn't helpful since the one who ask for help already use Bitcoin and other user already mention using bitcoind or bitcoin-cli.

When i checked https://loyce.club/archive/members/96/969140.html and https://ninjastic.space/search?author=da16888, his archived post doesn't contain link. * This user perform SEO spam using similar method as user @da16888. Here's archive to his post history which contain SEO spam which i shared for double-check purpose, https://web.archive.org/web/20240608100826/https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=3621292;sa=showPosts.
        * This user suspected using chatbot, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5456516.msg64186480#msg64186480.
        * I modified SEO spam link mentioned in his post, since i don't want contribute to SEO spamming.

        List of post:

I have a fairly robust dedicated pc running ubuntu:
        Processor Intel Core i5
        Memory 8gb
        Disk 500 gb ssd

The progress started quickly with about 70% in a couple of days.  Then it slowed down dramatically to where now  like today for example it has downloaded not even 1% in the last 12 hours, maybe getting like 2% per day at this point.

Been checking to debug.log no errors, running continuously with percentage complete increasing as expected (just slow).
        Config:
        prune=3000
        dbcache=16384

Looking for any suggestions to try out.  Seems like at this rate it would take a few weeks to load, that seems too slow, or it this how long it seems to take nowadays?

It sounds like you've got a strong setup there. It's not exceptional for the starting adjust to moderate down because it advances, but the rate you're encountering appears curiously moderate. Your equipment ought to be competent of quicker advance.

Since you've checked the debug.log and found no blunders, and your arrangement settings appear appropriate, it's worth considering a couple of other potential components.

Firstly, guarantee your web association is steady and not encountering any issues. In some cases organize interferences can essentially moderate down the syncing process.

Also, check in the event that your antivirus or firewall settings can be interferometer with the syncing handle. Some of the time excessively forceful security settings can cause slowdowns.

You may too attempt restarting the syncing prepare or restarting your computer through and through to see in case that makes a difference to progress the speed.

        1. There's no correlation between web association (a group who discuss or talk about web) and syncing full nodes.
        2. Both antivirus or firewall usually prevent malicious/blacklisted connection rather than slowing it down.
        3. If he try to sync Bitcoin Core recently with only 8GB of ram or read someone's else experience, he'd know syncing with 8GB of RAM is very low at certain point. Which means he wouldn't say "strong setup".

Having a 2FA security system for your accounts is important these days. It adds an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access, so I'm all for it. The only problem might be with the Gmail accounts.
If anyone encounters difficulties logging into their Gmail accounts like I did several times (thanks, Google), you can use anonymsms dot com. They offer real numbers for free SMS verification.

Unless that website actually can give same phone number with one you used to create gmail account, this suggestion doesn't make sense. This post also contain stealth SEO spam by adding the link later.

Other boards are just to discuss how bitcoin is but the Technical Board is amount the discussion of wallets and how to move bitcoin and everything about bitcoin.

That's right. I focused on few technical boards since it's simply impossible to pay attention to all boards and spammer (whether they use chatbot or not) almost never got banned.

and you have made it clear for everyone to see yet some people will still report users giving false information to this thread from another boards. And if the issues is from the Technical Board then the it is ok.

I think it's still ok if false information (which posted outside such boards) can be categorized as false technical information or served as additional information.

And I appreciate your effort to clean the Technical Board because that is the Power House in the forum and any bad information there might affect the others.

        Thank you.

Probably he just need to know the true meaning  of the word "Cold" in term of storage that will explain why there's no cold wallet Smiley
I will regard it as false or maybe he totally meant a cold storage instead of wallet ... more likely to make people believe false statements

Personally i'd just regard it as unhelpful since it's very generic suggestion. "cold wallet" have become common term these days.
