Mycelium Showing incorrect Bitcoin Price..

First, let me start my apologizing just incase there's been a previous thread on this board that is similar to this one, please point me to it and I will lock this one if the solution to my problem is already found on that other thread.

I don't know if this a general problem, but for a while now, I've noticed that my mycelium wallet is displaying incorrect Bitcoin Price, when I first saw this some weeks ago, I ignored it, because assumed it was possibly my network that wasn't strong enough for the btc price to update properly, but then, till today, this has remained the same.

I will love to know if this is a general issue or is it peculiar to me alone?
If it's something Peculiar to me, I definitely would appreciate a solution, is there anything i need to do in the app's "settings" to fix this?

I have just verified my app and it's showing correctly all values (all exchanges ...)
have you updated your app?
have you tried to restart your phone/change internet connection?
are you using a VPN or something like this?
have you tried also other exchange to be selected for this value?

Get you seed phrase backup. Make sure it corresponds to the Mycelium seed phrase and not another seed phrase. Delete the wallet and download it again. Import the seed phrase on the newly downloaded Mycelium wallet and see if it is showing the correct balance.

It’s definitely a synchronization issue, how about you import the seed phrase into a wallet like electrum or better still re install the Mycelium app. I have read of these cases concerning mycelium on the forum many times most especially on IOS. So with the seed phrase you don’t need to worry

My is up to date, atleast, I've checked playstore multiple times and can't find any new update for the app, and I've also checked in the app itself and it doesn't tell me it has a new update.

I honestly do not think that restarting my phone or changing internet connection is the problem, my phone is quite old and I do this quite often to keep it from hanging, most especially when under heavy usage.

And I am not using VPN either.

It is exactly same thing for all the exchanges, you can see this in the screenshot below



Now, I know the issue is Peculiar to me, I will go into the app's settings and see if adjusting something would solve this problem.

This would likely not be an update issue. You need to install the wallet again. Or better to use a better wallet for bitcoin if you are only using Mycelium for bitcoin. There are better bitcoin wallets like Electrum, Sparrow, Bluewallet, Samourai and some other wallets.

Happy to say that issue is not fixed, I did installed the app and re-installed it after I saw your first comment, but the problem persisted, I initially wanted to just go download Electrum and forget about mycelium, but decided first to try seeing if I could change something in the app's settings as I initially wanted to before I uninstalled the app, I went into setting and saw "Tor network" in the menus and it's switch was turned on, I decided to turn it off,



And after turning it off, I checked back on the bitcoin price it has updated to the correct price.
So, let's say that the Tor network feature that was turned on was the cause of the issue.

This problem has nothing to do with VPN or an Internet connection. I've also experienced such issues when checking funds on my mycelium wallet. It sometimes takes time to synchronize with the Blockchain or those exchanges. I think some how it might be a bug on the app so what I usually do is to clear the app storage, check for new update of the app and reimport my seed phrase again. This shouldn't be an issue with your phone neither with your Internet mate. VPN connections Should have no negative effect on your wallet since Mycelium also supports tor vpn

He posted that the issue is solved after he off the Tor from the Mycelium settings. If he on the Tor but not connecting to Orbot, this will result to synchronizing issue unless he connect to Orbot. That was what that caused it. Even if that was what that happened, the wallet supposed not to connect to the Internet at all because Mycelium wallet has no in-built Tor and there will be no synchronization.

It won't change, I have discovered this price inacurrency on Mycelium apps some years ago when I still use that wallet, so I think the price is always less than the actual bitcoin exchange price, but when you transfer to your exchange you will then see the real value.

I guess ops should just get used to that from that app, and learn how to already picture this price discrepancy on the app Vs real bitcoin price, although me I just took that as the apps own why of computing bitcoin and since it doesn't affects the actual value of my bitcoin in sats, so it doesn't border me much, and also since Mycelium is not an exchange I don't have problem with that.

Unless if the team or anyone here can help with the way to resolve the price imbalance, so let us learn a new thing today.

You are coming up with a new bug that I do not consider a bug. I did check the app and found out the price is accurate according to the exchange you chose. I chose Binance and found it to be suitable for the current market condition. I am sharing both images but remember that Binance is an exchange and Mycelium is a wallet that uses the exchange API to get those numbers.

There will be a slight change in the price of Bitcoin as it is a wallet and not an exchange. Please come up with some substantial evidence to support your theory. Till now I have not found one.

Actually, the latest version of Mycelium has a new feature where you can find the issue like this problem.  
Next time if you have some issues in the future always go to the logs you can find it under settings>help> logs if you can't analyze the issue share it here. Mine shows the ping where the Mycelium is syncing to the Mycelium server and electrumx node from what I can see it seems the server where my Mycelium is connected is a bit slow because the ping reaches around 600ms sometimes 900ms.

Since you solve this case by turning TOR off do you have an orbot? Because without the Orbot app, this feature isn't going to turn on, and it will remain off until you install Orbot.
