The Blackpage mobile app is a P2P cryptocurrency exchange and social network powered by The Onion Router (Tor) with support for privacy coins such as XMR, ZEC and more. By default, the app allows users to register and post short-form content to the darkweb pseudo-anonymously. Like Twitter for the Darkweb but accessible outside of it. In addition to being a straightforward exchange for swapping to and from one privacy coin to another (among others). With the exception of standard issued legacy cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin which will also be supported.

This is a multi-platform service with builds across Windows and Linux in addition to its (clear and dark) web presence. Generally operating as an aggregate and search engine for points-of-interest around the web. This software is a result of combined efforts in making the wider Internet a more dynamic interesting place to explore. As well as making it easier for its denizens to swap digital currencies with ease.

This is on the app store so it can't be that anonymous

Anyone serious about staying anonymous understands that good opsec should transcend the protection provided by any platform. If this is your first thought then the service is probably not for you.

Will there be support for i2p?

Yes! Of course this will be made available.

Is Bitcoin supported?

No but perhaps someday.

Where can I find the desktop (CLI) application

It is currently unavailable while we make broad changes to Tor mirror of our website.

Will my username appear above the posts I make?

No, all usernames are encrypted and appear as such. However, the minute anyone posts publicly, their encrypted username becomes visible and their posts viewable via the "front page" category to anyone curious. Avoiding public posts altogether is the only way to ensure that no other user has access to your encrypted username/key and its content.

Any KYC?

No, and the swap function operates closer to a P2P system with a form of escrow provided by the platform.

Is this software open-source?

Only associated and/or hosted projects (like the cryptocurrencies supported) are open-source, the platform itself is not and will not be.

Does the platform take any fees from swap transactions?

Yes, and these fees will allow for broader more robust support for users and the cryptocurrencies supported. However it is not yet decided what these fees are since the platform has just launched (with swaps and significant number of other non-critical features disabled).

Is there any moderation?

Yes, this is a community and admin moderated service.

Why build this?

It didn't exist and there's a need for a no-nonsense Tor-powered platform (besides Tor itself) that doesn't claim massive overhead to its operations. We look forward to increasing our own transparency over time.

On the website, the search bar contains multiple types of search engines. Feel free to check it out although the results will redirect the user to the search engine supported.

Please note that this is an announcement post for a relatively incomplete multi-platform application with privacy features both complete and in development. There is no budget and there is no singular "team" developing this. Those who have been are not particularly interested in arguing with people who have post quotas. This software is not for everyone in the same way that some of the communities we make discoverable via our website are invite-only. We are however interested in suggestions for future improvements, bug reports and new website listings that you feel belong on blackpage.app and in our WIP search engine. We are also happy to support any privacy coins suggested besides XMR and ZEC. Thanks for your time.

Please confirm, is the link attached in the OP correct? because it leads to blackppage.app and it doesn't load anything (unless you mean I have to use the Tor browser to access it), whereas blackpage.app works fine but the page looks different from your screenshot.

I randomly clicked on some of the sites that were recommended, they are full of spam and have more than one tracker and some of them even record keyboard clicks which makes them bad for privacy.

Also, yes the Blackpage app has ben entirely in stealth mode until today and we do not intend to artificially boost the number of installs. We also understand that the use of such an app may be niche.

Regarding the darkweb mirror, it should be available this week after we attach things to the backend. In this way we can display platform stats. While it would be trivial to simply upload our main site files to the appropriate location we have had people voice concerns in the past regarding our use of JS which is a bit unconventional for Tor users. About user pages: blank black user pages are created at signup (via the app) and are only populated once a user posts. At that point the page design becomes visible. In other words these function a bit differently in practice on the Tor network than the base website does. Thanks for your feedback!

I don't like installing random mobile apps especially if they are not released with open source code.
Web version is already available without installation, so what is the difference compared to mobile app and can we register account with the app?

Hello, yes I can explain. Well Bitcoin is expensive to support and the code here was written by a single developer. Hosting is provided by a small independent game studio. Neither of these entities or myself are well capitalized, just passionate about technology. That said I do agree that it should be supported and your sentiment only strengthens the possibility of this happening. again perhaps someday sooner than we all think. And I can also say that we are actively looking to do this.

About the web version. The main site is currently just a web portal with (hopefully) useful links with a lot more pages being rolled out. But yes in the near future, signing up there will be the same as doing so on the app. And it's our hope that this (alongside other plans) will help build that trust as well as attract more users.

Oh and about the features. Yeah it's like if Twitter had an exchange. I say why not. Besides the microblog came before the exchange tech. There's really no rush on our end it's quite the steady rollout.

Please keep in mind that this post initially cites the "mobile app" as the microblog. Whereas the site is a simple web portal (link aggregate). Granted also being a web app. The long term goal is to combine these into a more cohesive singular service. On the darkweb, links to clearweb sites will become links to .onion and i2p sites. Although you can imagine that these will be much more curated.

I feel like the icons underneath the search field should have some names attached to them. Most of them are self-explanatory and it's not difficult to figure out what they are referring to, but for absolute clarity, maybe it's best to add some text to them.
Btw, why are the private sites and porn sites revealed only after a click, while the ones in the middle open a drop-down menu just by hovering your mouse over them?

You can always add support for Lightning Network or Liquid Network second layer with much lower transactions fees and confidential transactions.
I think this is a good for your microblog, and you would still support Bitcoin that way, along with other privacy coins.

I am thinking more in the direction of Twitter integrating crypto payments, but the ones Elon likes, such as Dogecoin, Shiba, meme coins, and similar ones that are easier to manipulate by him through his communication channels. I think there is already a limited tipping option that probably supports only a few selected countries in the West, but I haven't read much about it.

Agreed it would be easier for accessibility. Should at least show text on hover. About those links, that's because they are likely to be more adult oriented. So for good practice they are off to the side. Thanks for the feedback!
