Hi everyone.  So far it seems only the trust wallet, was compatible with the 24 word seed phrase from coinomi. And was easy to import that way. But the outrageous fees,, that are six times higher, to move the Bitcoin from trustwallet to another wallet were ridiculous. But I had to do it..since coinomi has crashed, pretty much and not working..

SO, I'm trying to help,  ... my hubby, move what he has from coinomi,, but he doesn't want to import to trustwallet now.... so I was wondering if there is an easy way to import  straight from coinomi to electrum?

But I'm not sure electrum would be compatible with the 24 word seed phrase that coinomi uses,,, and i,m  not experienced enough, with imports,, to do a conversion or figure out how to convert that to something that would be compatible for electrum. So anyway I just thought I would ask that quick question?..   I was not using coinomi, as a main wallet at all ,it just had a small amount in it, that just needs to be moved now  from coinomi, since transfers are not working at all

But since he saw me lose so much money in fees, after  I moved  imported mine from trustwallet and then had to transfer to  one of my main wallets now. He was just thinking maybe he could import his straight to electrum?.

Okay thanks all for any help or info I appreciate it :-)

Coinomi is a noncustodial wallet, so it shouldn't charge you a flat fee. It also looks like it can change the fees as explained here:

https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009675-how-much-do-i-have-to-pay-to-use-coinomi-how-do-i-set-fees-

If that doesn't help, it means that the wallet is not miscalculating the fees, and changing the wallet is probably not going to do much.

On desktop
Name your wallet or go for default wallet name and then click on next and follow this: Standard wallet -> I already have a seed. Enter your seed phrase and click on options -> select BIP39 seed phrase and click on next. Select from these derivative paths:

Legacy for addresses that starts from 1
P2sh-segwit for addresses that start from 3
Native segwit for addresses that starts from bc1

Click on next. Input your password that you want for the wallet and you are done.

On mobile Electrum. After you input your seed phrase, you will not see 'options' at the right lower side where you input the seed phrase, but you will see 'Electrum' at the upper right corner. Click on it and select BIP39 to proceed.

Electrum wallet is compatible with 24 words seed phrases.

Note that Coinomi is a close source wallet and it would be better to generate new seed phrase on open source wallet directly. Electrum seed phrase is not BIP39 seed phrase but you can import BIP39 seed phrase on Electrum.

Coinomi is a noncustodial wallet, so it shouldn't charge you a flat fee. It also looks like it can change the fees as explained here:

He is not talking about the fee. He is talking about his friend that do not want to use high fee but do not want to use Coinomi anymore because they said it (Coinomi) is not work properly. Check the mempool and see how high the fee is.

You can import your wallet into Electrum, but take note that it is not recommended to import a wallet from Trust wallet or Coinomi into Electrum and then start using it permanently in that way, you can import your wallet if you want to access some features that your initial wallet lacks. It is better to move all your BTC's from Coinomi into Electrum.

But since you are complaining about fees, you can import it for now and watch out for when fees are a little bit lower than what it is now, then create a new wallet in Electrum and move your coins there.

In case you want to follow their advice to generate a new native Electrum wallet and move your funds there,
you can use you next transaction as an opportunity to send the change to the new Electrum wallet.
That way, you'll be able to pay someone and transfer the bitcoins to your new wallet in a single transaction.

To do that, just utilize "pay to many" from the settings icon in the send tab and input the 'addresses' and 'amounts' in the pay to field in this manner:
Code:
address_of_the_recipient,0.0001
address_from_new_electrum_wallet,!
The "!" amount will tell Electrum to send all of your remaining bitcoins to that address.

You can move seed words to Electrum but it will only work for Bitcoin, and not for any other altcoins you had in Coinomi, for that you would need other multicoin wallets.

Fees for bitcoin are no so high right now around 30 sat/vB, but if you already hold them in hot wallet it's not a problem to import seed words.

If you want safer option for larger amount of bitcoin than you should use offline cold wallet with newly generated seed words.

.....

Hi ,,I wonder if I didn't explain myself correctly..... thank you so much for all the replies. Can't transfer the Bitcoin directly from coinomi... because there Bitcoin has stopped working ,,,you can't transfer anything out. They have constant error messages that come up,, if you try to send any Bitcoin out ,,,and it's not working. They were trying to answer live chat for a while,,, but in the last 5 weeks ,,,they've stopped replying ......they don't answer emails or the live chat.

Many people are having the same problem..... so I didn't have too much there ,,but what I had ,a couple hundred dollars,,, I imported it to the trust wallet,,,, so I could just see my money and get access to it again ,,,,which I did in the trust wallet

And then from there ,,,,I just sent it like a regular transaction ,,,I did not import it,     I sent it the regular way to the electrum wallet.   But I had to pay the really really steep fees, because trustwallet fees don't match anything similar to the mempool,,,,, they were like six times higher. No matter when I checked. I did adjust the fee a little myself,, but it only went a little smaller. I lost about $38 in fees but I just said screw it ,,,,I just wanted to get it done ,,,,so now I got all my money ,,what I had left from coinomi, to trustwallet and now into electrum..

Sorry for the long explanation..... I was just trying to make myself more clear LOL:-)        the reason I was asking ,, cuz I have a friend in a similar situation,,,, she has some money stuck  on coinomi also.... So I don't know if you can import from coinomi with 24 word seed phrase,, straight to electrum or she would also have to just do it to trustwallet  first,,,, because that was very easy to do. And then she would have to transfer her money out of the trust wallet and pay the same kind of fees,,,, I did,,, to get it into her real wallet

hello charles!! Thank you ,,,you understood what I meant.... I appreciate that. I am not sure my friend nor I or experienced enough with importing, to understand the explanation to import it directly from  coinomi to electrum...

. the only reason I was able to import mine to trustwallet from coinomi, was because it was so easy I just had to type in the 24 word seed phrase and then it appeared in the trust wallet. And like I said, once it was there, I just transferred it out the regular way to my electrum wallet. I just paid the ridiculous ridiculous fees that trustwallet had. Their fees are so crazy,,,, it doesn't even match the mempool even slightly. But I just bit the bullet ,,,I had to pay about $38 in fees to move it and I just did it.... so I have the rest of mine in electrum now... with its own seed phrase.. and its own new password nothing connected to quinomi........

But as far as trying to help my friend,,, we thought maybe she could skip this step of importing to the trustwallet, first, and then paying the high fees,, there to send it to her other wallet, .....if she cd send it straight from coinomi. To  electrum for her..

I read your instructions on your steps very carefully, and I really thank you for that!. I understand the part about standard wallet ,already having a seed phrase options. And then you said to select bip  39 and click on next.... I am not sure I understand the derivative paths,,, or that I would pick the right one?
And I would have to be telling her how to do this too.... I use electrum on my desktop but I think my friend would be only using a phone.!! So mobile,, instructions then..... So she would have to follow your mobile directions to Move It from quinomi directly into Electra mobile..

... so I would have to understand clearly the directions to import from coinomi to electrum mobile for her? So if we got it figured out to import from coinomi to Electra mobile for her,  would it be safe with the same seed phrase if she was just going to transfer it out right away to another wallet? She won't be leaving it on electrum ? She wouldn't be keeping it there so would that be safe? Thank you so much again for your help I really really appreciate it!
On desk....

It also looks like it can change the fees as explained here:

https://coinomi.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/29000009675-how-much-do-i-have-to-pay-to-use-coinomi-how-do-i-set-fees-

If that doesn't help, it means that the wallet is not miscalculating the fees, and changing the wallet is probably not going to do much.
He is not talking about the fee. He is talking about his friend that do not want to use high fee but do not want to use Coinomi anymore because they said it (Coinomi) is not work properly. Check the mempool and see how high the fee is.

What was the fee rate you used for your transaction?
I guess your transaction included many inputs and that caused you to pay a high fee. If that was the case, it was not trustwallet fault that you paid a high fee.

Take note that the more inputs/outputs you have, the more fee your have to pay.

Click on the Electrum as you see in above image and select BIP39.

That is on mobile that your friend is using. If it is desktop, you will click on 'options'. If you do not click on BIP39, you will not be able to click on next so far it is BIP39 seed phrase.

Then you will choose the derivation path to proceed:

Legacy for addresses that starts from 1
P2sh-segwit for addresses that start from 3
Native segwit for addresses that starts from bc1

You will ask her the character her bitcoin address starts from so you will be able to know the derivation path she will use. Ask this before you will even tell her to import the seed phrase.

HI CHARLES!   Okay yes I'm reading your last post. And I see you showed me the picture of what it will look like on mobile on electrum. I'm pretty sure hers would start with bc1,,, cuz all of my Bitcoin addresses in quinomi started with bc1 which looks like native segwit. And we both made the little quinomi wallet at the exact same time just for use with Bitcoin..... just one thing I'm confused about when you said to choose the right side in the drop-down where it says bip 39,,,,.. but it says that's for a seed phrase previously created by electrum? ... but obviously ours ,,,wasn't from a seed phrase,,, previously created by electrum, it was created by coinomi,,     and it is 24 work seed phrase......... so would we still use that option?         Would we still use the drop-down menu where it says bip 39 to find the derivation path, even if it wasn't from a seed phrase created by electrum?...?......     ..... anyway that's my next question right now. As I understood everything you said except for that one thing. And if you say yes,,,, we still use the drop-down for bip39,,,.. and if It starts with bc1, for Bitcoin address.   Then  I'm just wondering if I could ask you now ,,,,what would be the next step right after that?       Sorry it takes me a day or two to usually see your help message.    As I'm going through some medical treatment right now also.     So I really really appreciate your help and hope you stick with me,,,, it sounds like we're getting close to be able to do this maybe ....thank you so much again, charles!

The seed phrase you generated using Coinomi is BIP39 and as stated by Charles-Tim, you should select "BIP39" option when importing your seed phrase.

In the next step, electrum will ask you to choose the script type.
Since your addresses start with bc1, you should choose "native segwit (p2wpkh)"

Electrum primarily supports Bitcoin. If your friend is dealing with a different cryptocurrency, they should check whether Electrum supports that specific coin. Importing private keys or seed phrases comes with security considerations. Make sure your friend understands the risks and takes appropriate measures to keep their private information secure. o import cryptocurrency into Electrum, your friend will need the private keys or seed phrase associated with their wallet. Ensure they have the necessary information before attempting any import. Electrum itself doesn't charge fees for importing funds, keep in mind that the blockchain network may charge transaction fees. These fees are usually variable and depend on network congestion and transaction urgency.

Hii. Thanks very much for clarifying that because when you look under the mnemonic generating tool for coinomi is confusing says you have to convert it ,,because it's not bip 39,, that's why I was a little confused...... when I imported mine to trustwallet, I just did it using the 24 word seed, cuz it was compatible with that, and that was very easy to do I just had to put in the phrase and it was imported.

And yes I know that's a little insecure but it was a small amount, and then I moved it out of the trust wallet to another one of my regular wallets,,, by just transferring the normal way,,, not by using the seed....

So just to clarify when my friend imports from electrum straight to coinomi,, and selects bip39, and native segwit,, when is the Step where it will ask you,,,, to put in the 24 word phrase?       Does that come after doing both of these steps first? I guess that's the only thing you didn't mention,,, that I'm wondering about,,, before I help her do this

And she's just doing this with a small amount of Bitcoin like $220 worth is all,,,, but since it's useless on coinomi not working anymore,,, is the reason have to do this now..

. and once she gets it imported into electrum, it won't even be staying there she will be sending it by regular transaction means to her main wallet.  electrum fees are very small ,,I've already checked that out,,,, so that's why she wants to import first into electrum,, and then she will transfer that ,,by a regular transaction ,,to her main wallet

Thank you for filling in for Charles :-) :-) I really appreciate your guys help a lot. So I guess my very last question is when does the category come up,,,, where you actually put in the 24 word phrase on electrum?

Does that come after you select the BIP 39 and Native segwit ?? Or does putting in the 24 word phrase come first although I didn't see a place to do that when I just initially checked it out

Okay I guess that's it I guess that's the last question and then I will help her as soon as I see her give this a try thanks again so much

Select "Standard wallet" and then "I already have a seed". After that, you should enter your seed phrase.

If you are using the android version, you should select BIP39 in the dropdown menu at top of the screen.
If you are using the desktop version, you should click on "Options" and then select "BIP39".

The script type will be asked after entering the seed phrasing.

. and once she gets it imported into electrum, it won't even be staying there she will be sending it by regular transaction means to her main wallet.
With importing your seed phrase into electrum, you don't move your fund. You only import your keys, so that you can make a transaction using electrum.

electrum fees are very small ,,I've already checked that out,,,, so that's why she wants to import first into electrum,, and then she will transfer that ,,by a regular transaction ,,to her main wallet
Take note that neither electrum nor trustwallet charge you any fee and. All the fee you pay goes to miners and you can set the fee by yourself.
The fee you should pay for your transaction depends on how congested the network is, how fast you want your transaction to be confirmed, number of inputs and outputs and their types.
