cls63 Merit Source Application

First of all I would like to thank everyone who is supporting me.

@348Judah  My reason to make an application is that the number of merit sources is very limited on my local board as I said before. And it is because of my thinking that I would be able to choose quality posts better as Turkish is my mother language.

By looking at Rikafip's monthly merit overview, I can see that the Turkish local is in the top 5 in the category total number of distributed merits. My guess is it was like that in the past as well. What catches the eye is that the Turkish local board is towards the bottom of the list in the merits per post category. So, there is enough merits to go around there, but you are not rewarding each other enough. You have many more non-merited than merited posts and probably a lot of spam since it's a big local. A new merit source could somewhat improve those stats if theymos decides it's needed.

Based on data on the merit dashboard, the average Turkish local board receives 820 merit distributions every month with an average sender of 53 users last year. I think that's not a big number for a local board as active as Turkey, but the Indonesian local board seems to be doing better with an average of 1103 per month with an average sender of 66 users last year.

Encouraging users to raise awareness to get involved in merit share is basically a bit difficult and easy. However, if we do it consistently, especially when many users there have the desire to rank up, then it can be used as extra motivation for contributors and in inviting and involving them in distribution. It is true that being involved in merit distribution does not have to be forced, but their involvement in merit circulation can basically make local board statistics better.

True, Truksih local bas been among top 5 most of the time, which makes sense as they were consistently among top 3 local boards when it comes to number of posts (mostly 2nd behind Russian). Then again, their merit/post ratio has been among the lowest ones as well, which could indicate that they could use more merit, unless quality of discussion is lower than on many of the other local boards.


@CLS63 good luck with your application and be prepared to wait for some time as thyemos tends to approve merit source applications in bulk when merit shared drop significantly and that hasn't been the case as of yet.

The point is that, as is normal, they already have their standards and award criteria established. Each person distributes merits on this basis. And that's not bad.

I'm just saying that new sources of merit will create new criteria and different forms of distribution. This could generate new dynamism to the forum.

Don't worry - I'm not saying that the merit source that have dedicated themselves to the community are bad, but there are always complaints from those who are dissatisfied. What I said above is just a complaint from the past which I don't know where it is anymore - but so far I no longer find the same complaint because they easily get merit everywhere.

So, you're are right - new user have new ways and they will definitely create their own passion.

Op, go ahead... I'm fully in support of your application... Since you've realized the essence of merit circulation, I think Theymos wouldn't wanna neglect your dreams, NOT this time.. he's got alot on his table to work on but I feel this is solely about his decisions and how long he'd wanna pend them request.

Sometimes it is necessary to break vices that may exist in the way merits are used. New people, new ways of analyzing things and that can improve the dynamics of the entire forum.

You're right - but so far I haven't found any merit source that do this wrong although there are some tendencies that may not be liked by all users. In the past - I have come across complaints that some merit sources are unfair in that they tend to fail to help more low ranking users to rank up, but that is simply not true. Merit sources can't possibly make all users happy - they also have the same right to ignore many users who they think aren't worth helping.

I support every merit source application - including this one, but unfortunately this application will also be on the waiting list. Theymos may be aware of the need for a new merit source - but he hasn't made up his mind yet. So I hope OP will be patient and continue to update the thread with lots of quality posts.

Therefore, I also support - and have already applied for - this and other applications. 

So far theymos didn't accept yet any application maybe he has a plan for this. But for us those users who are planning/applying to become a merit source is worth enough. But for sure if they were accepted they have different way of giving merits and maybe some of them  are focus on Their local boards which pretty good enough cause we all know that some local boards is lack of merit circulations. And as we saw the chart of rikafips says all about respective local monthly merits.

CLS63 would be a good addition to merit sources. For the last few years I've been trying to encourage people to drop merit source application, but nobody wanted to do it. It's exhausting to be the sole source in the whole local section, all the other sources have quit or started to distribute merits rare. There are a lot of posts in the local section but very few merit distributions. The number of regular members distributing is also few. Merit earners are reluctant to use what they have. We can't force anyone to use their sMerits, but this kind of behavior affects the overall circulation. If Theymos decides to add new sources, I believe both CLS63 and xzone will be sources and I support them.

If that kind of behaviour is affecting your local board that much, maybe you should start avoiding meriting those who are reluctant to keep sharing the merit, even if their posts are helpful and merit worthy? I honestly never saw any point in hoarding merit and I usually spend mine the same day I got them or in a few days max.

Those users might not be meriting posts that much in their local section, but they could be doing so in other sections of the forum, and imo that is not too wrong. Where it is a problem is if the users are completely hoarding merits and not sending them to any user,  but if they are not doing that and they still contribute to the merit system by sharing smerits to other users (but not just in their local section), then there's no need to ignore their posts.

As the Turkish local board, we are one of the most active boards of the forum. But the number of merit sources is very few and I think the Turkish local board needs help in this regard.
I support CLS63's application to become a merit resource. I hope a new merit source will be selected
