It's a new year again and we all know what lies in wait, scammers are thinking of more innovative ways to decive and pollute the crypto community again and the one I hate the most are these wannabes that come and taint our fav coin image by creating not just inferiors but empty coins. They come I form of rug pulls, pump and dump all trying to scam crypto users who are ill informed. Not to long from now one new Influencer would start promoting a new rugpull, pls let none of us fall for such silly tricks anymore we are way past that already.

But any way let me remind you of how you can quickly save yourself from falling into these malicious snares.

👉get rid of your get rich quick mentality : I know a lot of persons would be expecting me to say read their whitepaper, but like I said this guys are getting more smart and making a good whitepaper with excellent road map and all would not be a problem to them. But thign I know they can't change so easily is their offers, they would always work on your greed, trying to entice you with silly offers that are so good to be true. I'm crying 😢 right now cause I also wished they were true, but sorry they aren't and don't fall to such this year.

👉 track their anonymously: so far I've noticed that most scams don't project any team members to the public and if they do they are mostly fake and this way could be very effective than reading a whole whitepaper. Check if the project has any real life representative and follow them up and see if they are posting in line with their big project in hand. Why i feel this is a good idea is because they are still afraid of the government too.

👉 yeah and  finally stop listening to influencers: many persons that have fallen for scam was found following one influencer or the other. Just know this people don't have you in mind and would promote any shit to get paid. Always do your own investigations if you must invest in any new project.

👉only invest in bitcoin 😎:  by know we all know that bitcoin is the only reliable crypto right now. And I have history to prove that, to me every other  project is not decentralized as they claim to be because they still have a kind of supervisory body even tho they claim not to, people did fund those projects remember and they would want something, nothing is free, no altcoin is completely decentralized.

Whole bitcoin on the other hand is developed by the bitcoin community and even the creator has no hand in it again . Now there is something we can trust.

Stay safe yall. No scam getting us this year

If you could add pls do we have everyon3 at heart ❤ 💙

There is a tendency to always think of newbies as possible victims, and we try to guide them, but one of the main mistakes is thinking that it will never happen to us, so, overconfidence is what we have to take care of.

The best scam is the one we don't know about, it's obvious, that's why you have to stay informed regardless of your level of knowledge and experience.

I notice that you are creating threads almost everyday. You are making yourself too obvious in hunting for something. You are not even proofreading your posts.

I think it is impossible for a year to have zero victims of scam. That's not possible in crypto. That's not possible outside crypto either. What we can only hope is that the figures of stolen or scammed money at the end of the year is much lower than the previous year. If that continues year after year, that's achievement enough.

So true! That's often how a scams end up a "supreme leader" fool many of people and disappear with billions of dollar.
But IMO it's easy to not get scammed these days because every day we get aware of new scams, so we need to be aware and help each other and rooting for each other!
Also read read do research, start with low amounts and try it out first. Don't be afraid to use Google and look what many different voices say, I been scammed sometimes but never the same way twice.
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." - don't know who deserves credit.

And of course we all here have probably get burned at least once, but without mistakes we never learn.

What we can only hope is that the figures of stolen or scammed money at the end of the year is much lower than the previous year. If that continues year after year, that's achievement enough.

You don't need to think, hundreds of thousand get scammed each day sadly, but what we can do is to go together against scammers, help and give advice share how they scam and minimize the scams.
And as you said "at the end of the year is much lower than the previous year. If that continues year after year, that's achievement enough." So true. But scammers also always find new ways but we are bigger and more, so if we work together we will win in the end!

Best regards

I was about to create a thread about scams and fraud but since I saw this thread created recently I decided to add the content here:

According to usa.gov here are the top scams that we should be aware of:

Robocalls and scam texts: These are unwanted text and calls that lead you to get scammed, if you want to avoid this kind of scam you can check this link: https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/stop-unwanted-robocalls-and-texts for the tips and further explanation about this kind of fraud/scams.  This is not limited to fiat transactions and since the emergence of cryptocurrency, this kind of scam strategy is also applied to steal people's crypto funds.

Spoofing: this is a disguise as a trusted source that leads people to be a victims of scam.  If anyone is interested to know about this kind of scam, this link: https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/scams-and-safety/common-scams-and-crimes/spoofing-and-phishing gives more information about this scam and how to avoid them.

👉get rid of your get rich scheme mentality : I know a lot of persons would be expecting me to say read their whitepaper, but like I said this guys are getting more smart and making a good whitepaper with excellent road map and all would not be a problem to them.
This step is essential, as greed leads to hasty and irrational thinking, which is how scammers trick you.

I know a fraudulent woman who used to appear on many channels and promote her currency, but then she disappeared from sight and went to India while stealing millions of dollars from clients’ money.
The lack of photos of team increases the possibility of it being a scam.
fake photos of of team confirms that it is a scam.
The appearance of a team does not necessarily mean that they are good or that it is not a scam.

As a starter yes but for someone with experience, invest long term in Bitcoin and look for every investment opportunity available to you.

I would just like to add you can always try to call their customer support and talk to someone, if you question them and they start getting mad or irrational with you in any way or even short with you that is an obvious sign that they are a scam. No company acting in good faith would make someone feel diminished by anyone even if they questioned their products. Beware of the links you click on especially in emails! Don't fall for phone scams either you know better. Never give any private infomation over the phone/online either unless you are 100% sure of their legitimacy.

The way to protect yourself from such scams is to stop being greedy and accept the fact that there is no easy way to make money without working hard. DON'T blame the creators of scam projects because if we all weren't greedy and didn't have the need to get rich quickly, scam projects would never exist.

I would disagree with this statement. As of now, in addition to bitcoin, we also have projects such as LTC, XMR, ETH, all of which bring significant profits to many investors. So, it would be unfair to assume that BTC is the only trustworthy project.

People have lost more money investing in shitcoins than to hacks yet no one is able to face the reality that most of the token being created are all intended to steal money from people by giving them garbage in exchange for their money. The real scam is these tokens that are rolled out everything with huge funds committed to their marketing through adds, influencers and even these websites where these articles articles are posted.

The only way out like the OP said is to invest only in Bitcoin. Bitcoin have been there and is evening gaining more attention than ever. Anyone selling anything apart from Bitcoin is surely not helping matters.

Actually what you said is true. Though it might sound as a merits fishing post or a repetitive statement. but all I know is that not only newbie are liable to fall to scam attempt, but to anyone. Information is one of the factor that keeps this forum going on for decade and it has become a part of us and even if it's repeated frequently I never get tired of it. because you might be moved to scam attempt but coming in contact with some post, it calms your mind down of nearly becoming a victim. Being a newbie does not mean not being able to educate people on some things. Some times the best way for newbie to learn faster is by teaching people what dey have learnt, in form of creating a thread. So even if it's from a newbie, let's just be guided on our crypto activities.

most of the people who are scammed are those who want to quickly profit from the crypto market and have little knowledge about investing in cryptocurrency. they are too impatient and tempted by the short-term high profits offered by scammers, so they don't care about the risks when they invest for the first time.

that's why it's important for investors to find out first about the cryptocurrency/crypto project they want to invest in. learn about its track record in the market and the credibility of its development team. if they have done that, their risk of being scammed will decrease.

or safer, if investors want to invest in cryptocurrency but don't want to get scammed, they can choose to invest in popular coins such as ethereum, litecoin, tron, or others. but what is safer is of course bitcoin, because the fundamentals have been clearly proven.

It's nice that you have noticed that the issue of Proliferation of shit coins is still out there and none of the articles provided enough information for you, then work on this and make your inputs and history will remember you.

1.There's nothing wrong with the "Get rich" mentality. Most of the people have such mentality, and this is what motivates them to invest in Bitcoin/crypto. The problem is the "get rich quick" mentality and the belief and you will make absurd amounts of money by investing in projects that sound too good to be true.
2. 99,9% of the crypto influencers are clowns anyway. If you make financial decisions because some crypto "guru" on TikTok or IG told you that X shitcoin is going to hit the moon, then you deserve your faith.
3.Investing in BTC only is way too conservative. I don't mind investing in the Top 10 altcoins. Investing in shitcoins and shit-tokens is a big mistake.

The pump and dump coins are for the risk takers and those that understand it make money from it but that is after the team, if they are lucky. Some investors like fast speed money spilling shit coins, nothing wrong if you have the fast money mentality but you have to cover your risk by knowing what you want to go in for.

For newbies, it is not a good decision to taste the waters that not very many investors have confirmed, it is better to stay with top coins whose leader is bitcoin.

There are people that constantly try to steal money from people who make money, and the cryptocurrency industry is no exception. Scammers appear to be attempting to devise increasingly creative methods as time goes on to defraud people of their money. The frequency of frauds and scam enterprises will rise as the bull run approaches, and it is our responsibility to protect our assets during this time. It is never acceptable to be unaware of something, especially when scammers take advantage of you by tricking you into investing in the wrong project or disclosing personal information.

As they say, "Knowledge is power," pursuing knowledge gives us the advantage over scammers.  It will be simpler to detect scams from a distance if you recognise the many methods and strategies scammers utilise. Investing in altcoins increases the risk of falling for pump and dump or rug pull scams.  To my knowledge, investing in Bitcoin is the safest cryptocurrency investment. However, if someone is interested in other cryptocurrencies, they should do some research or, better yet, choose well-known cryptocurrencies to reduce the risk and chance of being scammed.

👉get rid of your get rich scheme mentality

Many people have found themselves in difficult financial positions as a result of this mentality, their haste to get money quickly causes them to make decisions without fully thinking them through. Any site that offers free money or a rapid return is probably lying to draw investors to their platform because, in the cryptocurrency market, everyone is wanting to earn more money. As a result, there are actually no platforms that have money to give away. The majority of people who lack sufficient knowledge about cryptocurrencies are individuals who have the mindset of wanting to make a quick profit, they become impatient in their efforts to acquire knowledge and easily attracted by any small offer that seems to promise them a quick profit.

👉get rid of your get rich scheme mentality : I know a lot of persons would be expecting me to say read their whitepaper, but like I said this guys are getting more smart and making a good whitepaper with excellent road map and all would not be a problem to them. But thign I know they can't change so easily is their offers, they would always work on your greed, trying to entice you with silly offers that are so good to be true. I'm crying 😢 right now cause I also wished they were true, but sorry they aren't and don't fall to such this year.
Common mistakes of new investors in investing in bitcoin, but the thing is, they are afraid of investing in bitcoin because they know how much they need without thinking that they can invest in bitcoin via the DCA method, and because of that, they will find their own coin, or they will seek those coins that seem promising. They will be swayed by the white paper or the hype without analysing on their own if the coin they see is legit. Airdrop is one of the schemes that scammers use. They will give airdrops from their coins, and before the investor transfers the amount to their wallet, they will be required to deposit money or an asset.

I slightly disagree with this. There are many altcoins out there that have potential, and for as I called myself a self-hunter, I hunt or look for those new coins that are in the market that have the potential, or more like I'm taking advantage of the freshness of the coins. If I analyse that the coin will pump even a little, then I will hoard a lot of its coins while its price is cheap, and if I see that the market for those coins will be gone, then I will sell all of my holdings. It's all about analysing the market and potential coins, so you just need to make an effort and put in hard work.

The worst part is that no matter how many articles are published or how much awareness drive is created newbies will fall for scams. The next level of people would be those who are aware of such scams and yet they will take a risk and invest in scam projects because they want to get rich quickly. This is a never-ending journey and to date, people fall for phishing emails and fake airdrops. A new wave of scams has already started after AIs have been launched and these scams are not easy to identify and have far bad consequences.
