There is a tendency to always think of newbies as possible victims, and we try to guide them, but one of the main mistakes is thinking that it will never happen to us, so, overconfidence is what we have to take care of.

The best scam is the one we don't know about, it's obvious, that's why you have to stay informed regardless of your level of knowledge and experience.
Yeah, we're so used to helping others not get scammed that we forget to inform ourselves that there's other scams out there and that everyday it gets more complex just to scam other people and try to hide their old scam MO, that's why it's a good thing to always be updated for new types of scams that are popping up and how they work, this forum is a helpful one to do just that and following those hacking news and programmers that do daily updates help too.

Scammers will keep coming up with new rules, so following established methods may lead you to become the victim of a new scam. Therefore, the more skeptical you are, the rarely you try to take risks in something you do not understand, and the more you try to learn, the less likely you are to be deceived. Therefore, science, knowledge, skepticism, research and understanding anything. Before taking any action, these are necessary things to avoid scam.

Following fixed rules will not help you much.

👉get rid of your get rich scheme mentality : I know a lot of persons would be expecting me to say read their whitepaper, but like I said this guys are getting more smart and making a good whitepaper with excellent road map and all would not be a problem to them. But thign I know they can't change so easily is their offers, they would always work on your greed, trying to entice you with silly offers that are so good to be true. I'm crying 😢 right now cause I also wished they were true, but sorry they aren't and don't fall to such this year.
Having a mentality of getting rich is for me a very good mindset. What's bad is having a mindset of getting rich "QUICKLY".
Both have different meanings. A single word can change it all. One is good to have, and one is bad to have. To all users here, have a mentality where you can get rich by investing into crypto, but at the same time, learn more for you not to have a mindset where you need to get rich in the quickest way possible.

👉 track their anonymously: so far I've noticed that most scams don't project any team members to the public and if they do they are mostly fake and this way could be very effective than reading a whole whitepaper. Check if the project has any real life representative and follow them up and see if they are posting in line with their big project in hand. Why i feel this is a good idea is because they are still afraid of the government too.
Most of the time, having anonymous team members turns out to be a scam, and I don't know if some projects turned out to be successful despite the developers being anonymous, but I believe there are a few of them. Overall, showing the true identity of the team members is a plus for us investors, but also take note that some developers are just getting their face online - kind of like photo-grabbing.

👉 yeah and  finally stop listening to influencers: many persons that have fallen for scam was found following one influencer or the other. Just know this people don't have you in mind and would promote any shit to get paid. Always do your own investigations if you must invest in any new project.
Nope. I disagree with this one.
You just need to follow the correct influencers that will help you. I know many influencers on YouTube are there just to shill out the projects that paid them, but there are still some who are posting good and informative content for us viewers to digest. I'm following influencers who are posting more on sharing their Technical Analysis than those influencers who are posting new projects and their opinions on it. Not all influencers are the same, so don't generalize them all.

👉only invest in bitcoin 😎:  by know we all know that bitcoin is the only reliable crypto right now. And I have history to prove that, to me every other  project is not decentralized as they claim to be because they still have a kind of supervisory body even tho they claim not to, people did fund those projects remember and they would want something, nothing is free, no altcoin is completely decentralized.
One of the worst advice that I can get online.

I don't want to follow this advice not only because I don't want to focus only on Bitcoin, but there are other altcoins out there that are still worthy of investing your money in. You just need to spend some time researching on them. Maybe if you're a lazy investor and you don't want to conduct research then yes focus on Bitcoin, but for me, I don't want to focus on a single coin only especially if I know that I can get more profit by investing into altcoins.

The worst part is that no matter how many articles are published or how much awareness drive is created newbies will fall for scams. The next level of people would be those who are aware of such scams and yet they will take a risk and invest in scam projects because they want to get rich quickly. This is a never-ending journey and to date, people fall for phishing emails and fake airdrops. A new wave of scams has already started after AIs have been launched and these scams are not easy to identify and have far bad consequences.

The topic of scammers and that of the protection of the private key or seed phrases can not be overemphasized because as new users of bitcoin joins the community, they need to be aware as promptly as possible on the dangers and risks enshrined in it and how many of them can end up being monitored by scammers and subsequently scammed of their resources due to lack of basic knowledge on the security and privacy of their keys.

The quick steps I will advise anyone who just got a private key to do is to keep them very dear to your heart thereby securing it in cold wallets and other offline, off device platforms like writing it in your will. I have drafted my will and kept the private key there so that my family can inherit it too.

I believe everyone here is susceptible to scams, regardless of how long you’ve been in the market, that will never guarantee that the scammers will never keep an eye on you. They will always try to be smarter and wiser so they can find ways to take advantage on us, otherwise they won’t fulfill their jobs if they fail on their craft.

In spite of the fact that newbies usually fall as the victims, since they don’t have enough exposure on the market, but long time traders and investors should also never feel confident enough because the moment that these scammers find a hole in us, they will surely grab and proceed on planning on how we will fall on their traps. Scammers are actually intelligent on their own ways, otherwise they won’t be staying in their job if they are not good and skillful enough.

Hence, getting the right information is the key. Not only on how to stay in profits with your trading and investing career, but also be updated on the current strategies of how these scammers are scamming. Once we are seeing the same thing is happening to us, then be alert enough to get rid from those scammers and block them if possible.

I think it is impossible for a year to have zero victims of scam. That's not possible in crypto. That's not possible outside crypto either. What we can only hope is that the figures of stolen or scammed money at the end of the year is much lower than the previous year. If that continues year after year, that's achievement enough.

You don't need to think, hundreds of thousand get scammed each day sadly, but what we can do is to go together against scammers, help and give advice share how they scam and minimize the scams.
And as you said "at the end of the year is much lower than the previous year. If that continues year after year, that's achievement enough." So true. But scammers also always find new ways but we are bigger and more, so if we work together we will win in the end!

The problem is not just the scammers. Scammers gonna scam. The bigger problem is that there will always be people who will fall for their scams. Education and awareness are solutions to this. But I'm afraid it doesn't end there. There are people who are too greedy, too lazy, too careless, etc. A scam that is too dumb as to offer or even guarantee as high as x10 for an investment on a daily or monthly basis can still attract victims. You would wonder how that is possible.

Stay safe yall. No scam getting us this year

If you could add pls do we have everyon3 at heart ❤ 💙
Sometimes getting scammed can give us a higher alertness and can also know that scammers are constantly evolving to be able to always get victims and that makes us become vigilant.
Newbies become victims of scams may be easier but it could be not because he is a newbie but not vigilant because actually there are many articles that provide knowledge of the characteristics of scam actions but greed closes healthy logic because the practice of scammers always offers high profits that are impossible to get by the way it should be.

When someone understands that investing in every place will make them rich, of course they will make the wrong choice in choosing the type of investment that suits their abilities and it would be better for them to understand well about the investments they make so that they can benefit from the investments they make and Also, don't let them choose a type of investment that they don't understand well so that they lose their money in that investment.

For those who are just starting to invest, of course they will find problems if they don't understand the type of investment they are making and it is important for them to learn about this if they want profits in that investment. If a beginner only understands investing, they will quickly have a lot of money, of course. This is a wrong thing in understanding investment, of course it requires a process that they have to go through to be able to get a profit from the investment they make.

Yes, the last tip is my favorite: “Invest only in Bitcoin.”

This is absolutely true. After many failed experiments over the past years, it has been proven to me that investing in Bitcoin is the safest and most successful investment out of all other investments. Bitcoin, as everyone knows, is the most reliable coin and has one upward trend in the long term.

Greed and dreams of quick wealth are the primary reason why so many victims fall into the trap, so it is necessary to spread knowledge and expose the methods of scammers.

I think the biggest fraud risks lie in phishing sites and apps on the one hand and social engineering on the other. This is something that is actually difficult to resist. Remember the story of investor M. Cuban, who downloaded the Metamask phishing application and thus lost about $1 million.
And in Bitcoin, especially for a beginner, there are even more opportunities for fraud. It’s difficult for a beginner to understand everything. There are currently 7 types of addresses in Bitcoin alone. Or, for example, not all beginners know tricks for sending Bitcoins with zero commission. Or fraud with partially signed transactions. Fraudsters have many methods.)

Yes, the last tip is my favorite: “Invest only in Bitcoin.”

I might agree, but what's funny is that on the very same day that the OP created this thread advising people to invest only in Bitcoin, he also created another thread that says "pick only 2 altcoins invest in." Lol. So which is which? Invest only in Bitcoin or we can also invest in altcoins but we should limit it to only 2?

Sometimes people are inconsistent. They contradict their own statements or advice. They say one thing here and another there. What's funny is that the inconsistency happened on the very same day. Perhaps it's the eagerness to just give recycled advice.

You would be surprised by the extent and to what limit they are willing to go  in order to carry out a very precise scam. Scammers are evolving everyday and the same way you are being updated about information that's the same way they too get these informations if not nothing I can even say they are more relentless when it comes to achieving their goal thats why I don't believe any calls whatsoever from any team members because if the scammers are out and serious they could formulate all these things, I mean how hard could it be for scammers to set up other scammers themselves as team members.

I think the biggest fraud risks lie in phishing sites and apps on the one hand and social engineering on the other. This is something that is actually difficult to resist. Remember the story of investor M. Cuban, who downloaded the Metamask phishing application and thus lost about $1 million.

That is true. Sometimes, even those who are already aware that has enough experience may fall for phishing websites if not being too careful. A lot of people are not too techy to understand the complexity of crypto transactions, and yeah it is difficult to resist especially when your bitcoin address got too engaged in a lot of transactions, you'll probably gonna attract the scammers and hackers, thus you'll become one of the target.
I think having a secure wallet, a main wallet which you will not engage into a lot of transactions could be a lot safer by keeping it with low profile. When you become the target, it is difficult to spot whether or not you're already being attacked.

Sometimes the knowledge you have about those scams can play against you, and this is because if you know it all about the most common scams, this could lead you to believe you cannot be scammed, not be as careful as you should be and make a mistake.

So learning about all the ways we can be scammed is important, but we need to remain humble and remember that anyone can be scammed if we make a single mistake, and as such we need to keep being vigilant so this does not happen to us.

It's important to understand that scammers come in different forms and use different patterns but one thing always remains the same; they will always target to get info about your private keys. That's for the crypto scammers but general scammers will need info leading to where you keep your funds. The bull season is getting close and despite the number of times we warn users to be wary of such cheap tricks by these people, there'd still be those who will fall victim simply because they fail to adhere to Op's number 1 point which is the getting rich quick mentality.
Some investors are so greedy and impatient at the same time that they want quick profits and as such fail to see that these scammers use these get rich quick scheme as bait to trap them, hence the need to always be on your guard to avoid being a victim.
I'd love to add a point to what the op has dropped on how to be on guard against such scams and it's;
 - never mix online dating and investment advice
It's self explanatory because doing this will only make you open to any scam as its obvious that you are vulnerable at that moment.

What you are saying is what is expected from an investor new to the crypto market. Whereas a lot of these newbies rely on what their friends tell them to do as they are introduced to crypto by their friends. Then there are scam advertisements and social media information with their urge to become rich fast takes them to the path of getting scammed. It is not that easy to stay with the continuous changes and trends of the crypto market, rather gathering information from the internet which takes time they always go for shortcuts and lose it all.

Scams are always rebranded and when people think they know it all that is when they will showcase a new form of scam that is why you see people keep falling for scams and the thing is that the way guys put in effort just to scam you is surprising and once they start chatting with you the next thing will be that they want to introduce and gradually they start requesting for details. and now that bull is about to start. so there will be a lot of scams cooking so we all have to be careful out there. anything that makes these guys get hold of your private key then your funds are gone. the getting rich quick thing, people feel they can take any kind of risk. and forgetting some risk will fetch them nothing and cost them their lives.

People are naturally greedy and at all costs want to make enough profit from their investments and that is why they fall victim to investment scams not because of anything but because of the money. the profit looks good then the next thing is to start investing. even without considering the nature of how the investment is been run. and their simple ways to always avoid these scams but people won't listen.

You have right but some people is not as smart as rest of us the most people that fall for this is very old or Impeding function and they don't compete on same terms as rest of us and Ttis is what kind of people they target often.
Sadly in Europe it's like only Arabic's and African's doing this so it could be a easy solution to stop this, and no I am not a racist at all I just speaking truth.
Also on internet. Just go to a P2P-crypto website you will see a lot of scams and the scammers is more or less only from Kenya, Nigeria & China (And it's so sad because they destroy reputation for their honest compatriots)

People that scamming and targeting targets like those deserve nothing else then a slowly very painful _____. One day they will be busted IRL, I know people working on this so it will come a day things like scams like this will die out to around 80% but as you said we can never make it disappear to 100%. But if one person do as good as she/he can we can go very far to avoid it.

And I think people should have the right to be dumb and not have to worry about getting scammed. The problem is the scammers, always the scammers!, if they stop exist. scam stop exist even as I said  I agree with what you saying and this could be a perfect way to start decrease scams at the same time we also fight against scammers.

No scammers=No's scam and I think no one deserved to get scammed. That is like giving those scammers and excuse toscam "If they so stupid they deserve it". And I think we should not give them that.
But you are right in what you saying and it's something we should look into, the education. But this is far way bigger then this little forum. It's a big problem in the world.

Best regards
BabyBandit
