Hi. I was checking internet and many people say it's not safe to store important notes on Android.

So, I come up with an idea.

An app for android and IPhone that will keep your notes encrypted at all times.

The app will have crazy designed chatGPT algorithm that will ask a client to add special keys or phrase that will be used to decode the encryption. This keys will not be stored anywhere only by the client.

If anybody will access notes information, he will never be able to understand encryption without the keys or special phrase.

What you think? Is there anything like that exists?

Yes, it is easy to use any open source Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) code and then encrypt messages or notes, and there are already many open source programs that enable you to do this.
If you want to develop a closed source application, there is no guarantee that you are using a correct encryption algorithm with a good key size (bits), as it requires trust in you and a high risk with the presence of open source applications.

Make the source code open for everyone to verify. I don't think it will be a bad idea.
Just a thought. Aren't those note apps that we use on the phone, storing using encryption already?

I only know one app exists on Android that can encrypt and decrypt notes and data they called it Openkeychain: Easy PGP

I can't find other tools on Android that can do this it seems only Openkeychain app is the only app available I don't know for IOS it seems it does not yet exist.

Sounds pretty common, in simple words it's like a note app that can only be opened with a password. Is the encrypted data will be saved to the cloud? Or just in the client too? How about how to import it on other device?

What i knew something like this wayback before is keybase, but i don't think if there are still using them after they were acquired by Zoom.

I think this is similar to Openkeychain, you can find it on the Google Play Store.

It's K-9 mail, once installed, you can integrate it with OpenKeychain.

As long as it's an open-source app maybe we can trust it once we verify it on our own.
Because IMO, everything you store on the internet is prone to hacking.

It's K-9 mail, once installed, you can integrate it with OpenKeychain.

It only supports Android OS only it does not support the iPhone IOS version yet and found their open-source code here.

It is a thunderbird from Mozilla and their Android version is K9-mail there are lots of bad reviews about this k9-mail on Playstore but according to them, it's the UI they want the old version compared to the new one.

The concept is good but the app should have the GPG signature which the app users can use the verify the app before using it.
Another thing is that people who will use the app must understand that using the app does not provide the total privacy and security of communication needed since the whole usage has to do with phone and there are already some settings/apps (keyboard) on iPhone and Android phone that have already messeded up privacy.
Nevertheless, it will be nice if the app is open source.

The user did not respond to any questions, but developing such applications is only used by a small group that is interested in privacy, and therefore it is difficult for them to trust your application.

You can try https://keybase.io. It is open source and available on IOS and has end-to-end encrypted messages. IOS is a closed source operating system and they have back doors, so using it for privacy may not be a suitable option.

I was thinking making a web page at first with the example. No connection to any other service. Just script. You can download the page to your computer and use it locally.

You type your keys in and they are stored in your memory until you reload the page.
And there will be 2 text boxes, for decryption and encryption.

That's all.

I believe many apps they still can access your information without  permission. This one wouldn't. If you forget your keys, that's it.

And one day this app might just stop working and you won't be able restore your data.

Happened with me once. I had very well known notes app store and 3 year after it stopped working. I stored there my working hours. and a wallet key phrase. 3 year I kept the phrase on a note, than wrote it on a paper and 2 days after note app stopped working.

To be homest I was sitting and looking silently on my none working note app for all day.
And then I come up with this idea.

There is no need to spend time creating something like this when you already have apps with that feature.
For example you can use Simplex chat app that works both on mobile and desktop computers, and it has integrated private notes.
You can also use it for private chatting, audio/video calls, and you don't need to use any phone number or other identifier.

I believe many apps they still can access your information without  permission. This one wouldn't. If you forget your keys, that's it.

Simplex is open source and it can't use any information.
Database can be encrypted, and if you lose passphrase you lose your profile.
