Do you know of any organizations that promote the use of Bitcoin as a currency?

A user group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as a currency could be beneficial.

Do you think it would be worth creating one?

Tricky question.

How do you define support towards Bitcoin? Is it only promotional, as you said?

In my opinion, the way to "support" Bitcoin is to scale it, running as many nodes and miners as we can. I don't think there is anything else that can be done to support bitcoin. But I am curious to hear your thoughts.

Finally, there is El Salvador that uses Bitcoin as a formal currency (not the primary currency but rather the secondary currency).

Bitcointalk among others
Individuals who knows it's worth and future promote it
You too can
There are firms both large and small scale that accepts Bitcoin as a means of payment even if it's not the primary means.
Even charitable organizations like Red Cross do.

Do you know of any organizations that promote the use of Bitcoin as a currency?
bitcoin is a currency..
if you mean treat as direct money for goods/services. thats another detail
but currency is a umbrella term.
even your spouse and you swap sexual favours as a form of currency
even your neighbour and you swap beers or help fixing a car as favours in a form of currency
anything can be a currency

but if you mean a more defined subclass of currency such as money
you wont find many places right now due to the fee's causing people to be stand-off-ish at the moment to use it as direct tender for goods services

most end up using locked coins with pegged subnetwork IOU units of measure or centralised services to move IOU value which settle-up later on

A user group or organization that specifically supports Bitcoin as a currency could be beneficial.
Do you think it would be worth creating one?

there were many organisations, they designed leaflets and posters and tutorials and done some events.
these days its more locally done by people meeting up in their region/area,
or individuals setting up websites that list where bitcoin ATM's are and bitcoin accepting services.
but most of those have switched to managing funds via centralised services or locking funds up to use middle men required subnetworks to evade the bitcoin fee's (avoid using actual bitcoin network)

I DO NOT TRADE OR ACT AS ESCROW ON THIS FORUM EVER.
Please do your own research & respect what is written here as both opinion & information gleaned from experience. many people replying with insults but no on-topic content substance, automatically are 'facepalmed' and yawned at

Bitcoin talk is the best example. That is why its web address is Bitcointalk.org simply Because the org signifies it is an organization of Bitcoiners.

No I don’t think bitcoin needs that organization, you need an organization for a physical currency like fiat so as to print the paper money just like the banks we have now. Bitcoin is decentralized and doesn’t need any centralized entity to do anything. Once bitcoin has an organization or entity like this then anything that affects that organization will definitely affect bitcoin too. Bitcoin has grown through thick and got this adoption rate today without all this.

What bitcoin needs only developers, full node runners and probably the core bitcoiners to use it properly but others any organization will be manipulated by the government.

There are groups, institutions and organizations plus individuals that are supporting bitcoin as a currency and that is why the value is always increasing daily. And you can see more organizations that accept bitcoin as currency here. https://99bitcoins.com/bitcoin/who-accepts/. And no company will accept bitcoin if it has not taken bitcoin as currency. But individuals are more acceptance of bitcoin than any other organizations or institutions. I think this forum is one of the examples and any other forum. And for the individual, you are one of the best example of that.

Of which these set of people are already giving their support to bitcoin. The only way that I see that we individuals can support bitcoin is by using bitcoin the way that it was designed, which is for decentralization.

We should stop using a decentralized coin in a centralized manners. We should promote the decentralized nature of bitcoin by using DEX for our privacy. It wouldn't cost us much.

This forum was created to support bitcoin, because of the categories of people mentioned by @EL MOHA are in this forum.

You are already here, which means you are part of the biggest Bitcoin community, Bitcointalk. If you search the internet, you will find a lot of organisations supporting Bitcoin as a currency, and they are investing as well. We don't need any specific community for Bitcoin other than Bitcointalk. The worldwide population supports Bitcoin, and it's backed by the community. They aren't well organised, but they are very strong, which is enough to back Bitcoin.

The overwhelming trend is Bitcoin as a centrally controlled investment.  There are more and more businesses and individuals promoting Bitcoin as a three + party transaction every day.

Every Government and bank in the world has the incentive to control Bitcoin in this way.
Bitcoin is being centralized by governments and banks as we speak. They are doing an amazing job of controlling the on-ramps, limiting its use through KYC laws and now the ETFs will begin taking a controlling interest in it.

Crazy fact: There are almost no applications of Bitcoin outside of Bitcoin Core that are peer-to-peer. All of the 3rd party applications are promoting Bitcoin as a trust based transaction.

Bitcoin's core tenants need to be promoted or else it will be crushed if it is not to late.

There is no separate group or organization who are actively involved to support Bitcoin as a currency but this bitcointalk.org can be considered as one of the best thing over internet to support and spread awareness for Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin is decentralized there is no single person who holds authority to create such group and moreover why would people form a group and make efforts without anything in return for them but this forum serves the purpose. But I wanna make correction to your topic as Bitcoin is alternative for currency not currency.

The gambling industry is one of the biggest ones which utilizes bitcoin as a currency and is constantly growing attracting more businesses and users. They do not technically promote the usage of bitcoin, but accept it for transactions on their websites.

There are then several local businesses that accept BTC as a payment option.

The government can only control Bitcoin transactions with centralized exchanges that have its user's KYC at hand. Bitcoin is naturally decentralized; there is nothing like a third party in bitcoin, which is why it cannot be tempered with, but its means of transacting can be monitored, especially if you use centralized exchanges that are regulated by the SEC and other government agencies.
Not your keys, not your coins, should always be remembered and put into consideration to avoid our wealth being controlled by any third party or government, because if you hold your bitcoin in an exchange, you will not have full control over it.

What more organization or group do we need in bitcoin today again? Bitcoin has rises beyond all hurdles and I think they can stand on their own today without being facilitated by any organization or group. Remember bitcoin is a decentralized currency and by creating such organizations, it can affect the price of bitcoin in the global marketplace. All organizations that have already started accepting bitcoin as a means of payment, we the users that use it as a means of exchange/transaction, the miners and all other communities that are in one way or the other contributing to the development of bitcoin is enough for it. The day a physical organization is created solely to help support bitcoin, then the market will become more speculative by them which is what is avoided by many.

The overwhelming trend is Bitcoin as a centrally controlled investment.  There are more and more businesses and individuals promoting Bitcoin as a three + party transaction every day.
It is true that the majority of BTC users want to use it as a tool to make returns or profit, but we still have bitcoiners who spend BTC and use it to make payments when they can, without any third party.
The government attack on BTC is obvious, but they cannot control the network because it is censorship resistant and decentralized. Centralized exchanges and custodial services all cooperate with the government, but such services do not 'represent' BTC in itself. If people decide to give their data and funds to centralized services or buy BTC etf stocks instead of holding their keys, then it is their choice and it does not reflect the entire network or its users.

It depends on where you are residing. Well,  it will be good if there is a group or organization that supports bitcoin as a currency; they mainly promote bitcoin or the usage of crypto currency, and among the members, they are using crypto currency as their mode of transaction. But if the group or organization has only a small number and can't grow because of where they are, then that group or organization will struggle to maintain their group. So it will be worth it if the place you are in has a majority of people who are open-minded or open to new discoveries and aren't afraid to try anything new. Remember, a group or organization will be called an organization if there are a lot of people who support it and are ready to spread the mission and vision of that group. I'm sure there are many communities that are centered on bitcoin and crypto currency; they are just on the internet.

El Salvador has made it as their legal tender so it's more than an organization that you're asking if there is that supports it as a currency. But not that stops it from there because all the features of Bitcoin is being supported by many companies that we're in especially on the forum, you'll various companies, exchanges, casinos, merchants and etc. that supports it as a currency.

So if we're an organization, or pretty more of a movement then the forum itself is what you're trying to find as an answer and inside of it, there are bunch of other entities that supports or uses it as a payment and I think that's more than enough.

Do you think it would be worth creating one?
No need to make one, all you have to do is to find people with the same interest as you and you're already in it.

Perhaps according to the acceptance criteria that the OP alluded to, it will be difficult to talk about that object. But if you are in the cryptocurrency space, you will also see people who are "fans" of bitcoin Smiley , they can use and accept bitcoin and try to use it as much as possible with their life activities, but only to a small extent, but it is also very encouraging for people to act on it because it also shows how they believe in bitcoin.

I'm not sure what the future holds, but there is a belief that bitcoin will become more accepted, but considering it a currency is still outside the realm of speculation to me.

Yeah, I know that group. It's this forum, lol. Also a lot of crypto influencers on Twitter and Youtube, but sometimes I feel like they are doing more damage than good.

The gambling industry is one of the biggest ones which utilizes bitcoin as a currency and is constantly growing attracting more businesses and users. They do not technically promote the usage of bitcoin, but accept it for transactions on their websites.

There are then several local businesses that accept BTC as a payment option.

I agree with you Jay.

If there is one big contribution that has helped with the support and adoption of Bitcoin even years ago, there's no doubt that the gambling industry is the one.

With the acceptance of Bitcoin deposits, that have given the long span of Bitcoin adoption and made it as their main currency for their business. It sounds lowkey for them as a business.

But we can't deny that they've helped Bitcoin to thrive for that matter for the longest period of time.
