He is definitely sick in the head, since he can't control the urge until his wife is back, before he leaves the house. The gravity drags him so strong, and he wouldn't be able to resist. That's what happens when people get into gambling the wrong way and that's not always advisable, like the father in this story who you already know left his two children at home alone just to fulfill his desire to gamble. You know, there have been some threads here in the gambling section of the forum about the negative consequences of gambling behind the back of one's family or behind the back of one's spouse and this story is a perfect example of why one is not supposed to secretly engage with something like sport betting or gambling.
