Hello everyone,
I'm BitMan, an upcoming NFT project set to launch on the RGB protocol based on Bitcoin. BitMan pays homage to the pioneers of decentralization. Since Satoshi Nakamoto released the Bitcoin whitepaper, these pioneers have tirelessly propelled the advancement of the blockchain world, committed to shaping a more open and free world through Bitcoin. Each BitMan carries the belief in decentralization and freedom.

We are seeking like-minded partners to help distribute some of the NFTs to those who have contributed to Bitcoin. This includes:
* Bitcoin core developers, as well as testers, document writers, security auditors, etc.
* Bitcoin miners.
* Organizations or individuals developing Bitcoin-related applications (wallet apps, exchanges, payment gateways, etc.).
* Bitcoin educators.
* RGB protocol developers.
* Advocates for RGB protocol knowledge.

Of course, if you are one of the above individuals, please feel free to contact us to claim your BitMan NFT.
Our goal is to create a unique and meaningful NFT project that reflects the spirit of the Bitcoin ecosystem and pays tribute to those who have contributed to it. If you are interested in this project, willing to join our team, or just want to learn more, please visit https://bitman.city or reach out to us via BitMan's X account (https://twitter.com/BitManCity).

Thank you!

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Don't get me wrong, but I have never understood the community's fixation on NFTs nor do I see the correlation between NFTs and the ethos of Bitcoin. One is a revolutionary and life-changing protocol, the other is a short-lived hype with monkeys, bananas, and a dream to make big bucks quickly. But each person has his own interests, who am I to judge!?

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. It's understandable that not everyone sees the correlation between NFTs and the ethos of Bitcoin in the same light. While Bitcoin represents a revolutionary protocol aimed at decentralization and financial sovereignty, NFTs operate on a different layer, often associated with digital ownership and unique digital assets.

However, our project, BitMan, aims to pay homage to the pioneers of decentralization and those who have contributed to the advancement of the blockchain world, particularly within the Bitcoin ecosystem. Our goal is to create a meaningful NFT project that reflects the spirit of Bitcoin and honors its contributors.

We acknowledge that NFTs have seen a wide array of applications, including those that may seem frivolous or purely driven by hype. However, BitMan strives to stand out by focusing on celebrating the principles and individuals integral to the development of Bitcoin and the broader blockchain community.

We respect diverse viewpoints and understand that interests vary among individuals.

Thank you again for sharing your thoughts.

But here is the thing, whatever unique NFT piece of art you create for the contributors you deem worthy of receiving them, I can just go right click > save image as, and it's mine. I don't need or care about the signature that provides me with the sole ownership of said NFT. For the purpose of looking at or enjoying that piece of art (if that's what I want to do), it's not needed.

How are you going to collect a list of all the people who contributed to the bitcoin ecosystem?

It is likely going to include hundreds of people. So where are you going to source all of that data from? Github? Twitter? r/bitcoin? Here?

This is a tall order and I expect it to take several weeks to get a mostly completely list of all the important contributors.

Yes, you do have the freedom to do so when you don't care about copyright or ownership. Unless you truly love the artwork.

I'm not fan of NFT, but i'm surprised anyone actually use RGB protocol (since almost everyone fixated with Bitcoin on-chain). I'm not interested to help, but i wish your project receive attention so more people use RGB protocol or other protocol located on Lightning Network or sidechain.

The potential of the RGB protocol is being discovered, which will greatly expand the application scope of Bitcoin. In 2024, there may be some surprising projects emerging.

Some may prefer to have souvenir collectibles, such as physical Bitcoin cards charged with some Bitcoin or some tangible things, and perhaps some may like NFTs, although that will be more difficult. Is there a market for selling these NFTs and are they designed according to demand or is it a unique collection?
What are the criteria for selecting targets? For example, miners are people whose goal is profit, and Bitcoin educators are a general term.

Thank you for your thoughtful response and questions regarding the BitMan NFT project.

As for the NFT sales market, it is indeed rapidly evolving, with various projects and platforms emerging. While physical collectibles like Bitcoin cards hold appeal, NFTs offer a unique digital representation of ownership and participation within the blockchain ecosystem. The NFT market continues to grow, attracting collectors, enthusiasts, and investors who value digital scarcity and authenticity.

Regarding the design and demand for our NFTs, BitMan aims to create a collection that resonates with the values and ethos of the Bitcoin community. Each NFT undergoes careful design, yet they lack any practical value and serve merely as intriguing pieces of digital artwork.

Concerning the selection criteria for targets, you raise valid points. Our goal is to acknowledge and honor various contributors to the Bitcoin ecosystem, including developers, miners, educators, and advocates. While miners may primarily pursue profit, their role in protecting the Bitcoin network is crucial, and we duly recognize their contributions. Bitcoin educators refer to those individuals contributing to Bitcoin-related development technology teaching and promoting the use of Bitcoin.

I don't know what kind of messages can be shared via the Bitcoin developers mailing list and if announcements and advertisements of this kind are allowed, but if they are or if there is a way to get in contact with all the devs from there, you could give that a try. It would be just another source of worthy individuals who could receive those NFTs you plan to create.

The advantage of NFTs is that some developers may prefer to remain anonymous, so physical collectibles may lead to revealing even a small part of their identity. NFTs will be a good alternative, but some may not like the idea.

Choose a list where the community can vote on it, or do you just go through the requests and have an internal selection?

We will use internal screening methods. Voting may not be a good option, especially in the initial stages, when many people may not even know about us, and it will be more about us reaching out to them proactively. Once we gain some recognition, I imagine there will be individuals coming forward to claim WL, and perhaps at that stage, we will start considering voting.

I guess the administrators might not like it. But I'll give it a try.

My Spidey Sense is tingling here.

You want to give unique digital art to the people we are indebted to for bring Bitcoin to the world and those who continue to keep it alive and move it forward which on the surface is admirable.

I have a question if I may? - What does BitMan as an entity gain from this?

My concerns are:

You are trying to track down a rather elite group of individuals within our sphere, then you are want to contact them to send them an unsolicited piece of code.

I would likely think that many of these people are uncontactable or will not respond to the offer "free" gifts.

I am not knocking the project at all, and if it is what it says it is then its a nice gesture. That said, I think you have your work cut out for you to even find these people.

Good luck and don't be doing any sketchy stuff!

For NFT holders, BitMan is simply a beautiful image that holds some symbolic value, with no attached economic benefits. For us, the quantity of 10K is substantial, so we will sell a portion of the NFTs as compensation for our work and make some donations to the core development team of the RGB protocol, the LNP/BP Association. In fact, you've highlighted the real challenge this project faces, and regardless of the outcome, we want to give it a try.

It's not an issue as long as the gifts are digital and don't require that the developers reveal any identifiable information about themselves or perform any sort of KYC. If identity verification was a requirement, we could question if there are any ulterior motives behind this action. But if it's just a token you could purchase yourself anonymously if you wanted to, I don't see a problem with it. Of course, the question is would real bitcoiners even want that.

All the places you mentioned are our search targets.
This is exactly why we need help; this work requires a lot of time.
Create a spreadsheet and a google form. Ask the users to nominate three members. Members can be like bitcointalk members, twitter influencers or any prominent contributor for Bitcoin and it's ecosystem.

At least now you have a list. Then assemble a team. Ask the team to check the list of suggested members, filter them and remove unwanted false mentions. One of the main job for the team members will be to verify the mentioned members from the available public information about them. There may be a lot of work but having a list of suggested people will give you a quick start.

Good luck with your project. Let me know if I can help in anything after checking my portfolio and the work I do for the Bitcointalk ecosystem.

Cheers,

You can definitely provide assistance. Verifying the list of Bitcoin contributors is a significant challenge for us. The hardest part is figuring out how to start it, but once we get going, I believe it will become smoother as we progress.

I already outlined a basic idea. We can extend the idea further once we can have a discussion session. It's vital to know what resources do you have and the plans already in pipeline. Feel free to contact me on my Telegram.

Although I am not a big fan of NFTs, especially on the Bitcoin blockchain, because they have been misused and have gone beyond their purpose, the idea seems somewhat interesting, especially as it relates to honoring the pioneers of decentralization who contributed to the advancement of the world of blockchain and Bitcoin. These influential people who played or are still playing a major role. In the creation and continuation of Bitcoin and Blockchain to date.

But that seems somewhat difficult. There are people who have died, for example, and there are unknown people. Likewise, as for the miners, there are tens of thousands of them. How will they be selected?
