I had an Atomic wallet I uninstalled months ago. I didn't care to write down the recovery seeds offline but wrote them in a document in my computer. It's got less than $50 worth of digital assets that's why I wasn't interested in backing it up. Now, I see a lot of guys buying old wallets on Reddit and was like "If I sell all those wallets i'm not using, it couold add up" I cam to BTT to figure out why folks are buying old wallets to also benefit from the airdrops or whatever but found nothing. So I made up my mind to recover my old Atomic wallet but can't find the recovery seed. I only know the password. How do I get it and sell to wallet buyers since some of these wallets have been of little use to me in months.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Without the seedphrase, there isn't much you can do to recover the wallet unless you have the wallet file which might have been uninstalled with the software but even if it wasn't, I'm not sure which file you should be looking for. If you check the "AppData" folder for Atomic wallet (I just did) there are no wallet files there.

You were not interested in backing up your seed phrase, which literally means you are not interested in the money that you saved on the address the seed phrase generated.

If you do not have access to the wallet, your coin there are lost.

I don't use Atomic wallet, but I had it installed. I tried to check if I could find the wallet file in the AppData folder, but I couldn't find it. If I knew which file to look for, I could've suggested you try to look for it, maybe it's still there.

Are you sure that you wrote them in a document? because you can easily find all the docs on your PC by using the search button and adding the keyword "*.doc" without quotes.
If the search button in your Windows computer does not work try to download software called "Everything" from voidtools and use that software to search all docs using the keyword above.

Once you found all the docs check them one by one if you could find your backup seed phrase.
For other keywords if the extension is not .doc you can use "*.txt" "*.xls" "*.htm" and "*.pdf".

Lets hope that you can find the file you looking for.

I'm not an Atomic Wallet user but while I was searching on Google, I stumbled upon one of your posts from a few years back that appears to be "pointing to where the wallet file was located".

Good catch, completely forgot about that.

I was checking "Atomic wallet" folder instead of "atomic". The wallet seems to create two different folders in the AppData.

I saved the seeds of several wallets in a Google Doc document. I've been going through the history if one that matched but there's nothing. Any idea how to search Google Docs linkd to different email accounts at once withe 'Everything' Still trying to figure out how to use the software.

I tried to check if I could find the wallet file in the AppData folder, but I couldn't find it. If I knew which file to look for, I could've suggested you try to look for it, maybe it's still there.

Were you saying I can re-install and get my old wallet back? Please what's the procedure?

I could be wrong though.

You can try going to this path (change OmegaStarScream by your actual username): https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5275094.msg55175110#msg55175110

And see if you find the specified file inside. If so, maybe it's worth backing it up, and reinstalling Atomic Wallet and see if you can get the same wallet again.

I couldn't find the file, so I just re-installed Atomic wallet and it saved as Atomic Wallet (1) gave me the impression that the old wallet was still on the drive. I opened it and it was my old wallet. Thank you so much. I wouldn't have known it's still there without your suggestion. I actually abandoned the wallet for a long time due to its high fees so I have my coins back.

This is likely one of the worst ways to store your mnemonic recovery words of your wallets. You type the words on an online device and store them online in the Google cloud without any control who and what algorithms at Google could have access to your data. Let someone at Google program some algorithm to scan the cloud for a number of words divisible by 3 and member of the BIP-39 word set and you're screwed.

Next issue is that you seem to not have any sort of order or organisation to store valuable data of your wallets when you don't know or can't find the Google docs where you saved that details. Holy crap, are you serious? This is all together so much of a recipe for desaster.

I couldn't find the file, so I just re-installed Atomic wallet and it saved as Atomic Wallet (1) gave me the impression that the old wallet was still on the drive. I opened it and it was my old wallet.

At least that worked out.

Remember that Atomic Wallet was compromised around midth of 2023 and creators of Atomic Wallet weren't so far any helpful to investigate and publish the causes of this incident. I would stay away from Atomic Wallet!
See here: A Non-Custodial wallet, Atomic Wallet, being compromised

It's nice to see that you've recovered that wallet of yours, now that it is on your possession again. What I'd like to tell is that you better not sell these old wallets of yours. I know that they're quite used and you just want to make money out of it and you can forget about it forever. I'm not sure if there's a trick from these people or just really trying to sweep these wallets if ever they could get some of these airdrops or free tokens that they can. If you've some other transactions there then the buyer will know your old addresses. Just saying for no reason that you shouldn't sell it.

Oh wow! That’s nice.
It’s interesting how these little pointers could review an actually existence of what could have been neglected. The way in which, electronic devices actually attempt to save duplicate files. They seek permission to override or perhaps save as a new folder and they designate it with a digit for differentiation.
This is indeed an eye opener to what could work in these scenarios and it’s worth the revelation.

Meanwhile,
What could be the reason behind people having to buy old wallets and could there be any risk attached?

What could be the reason behind people having to buy old wallets and could there be any risk attached?

It's usually because of airdrops. Some projects make airdrops for active addresses. The only risk I could think of is if your address is somehow attached to your identity (maybe you linked it by signing a message or something of that nature) then that could backfire.

If the purpose was airdrops then the people who buy the old cryptocurrency wallet will have the specific wallet they are going to buy. An example is the UNI airdrop which was given to all the self-custodial wallets that execute crypto swaps on Uniswap.
Even if we ignore the area of identity. I think selling of old wallet is a naive decision for the seller because no one in his right mind will dare to pay a certain fund for an old crypto wallet if it isn't worth more.
