What happens if someone sells an account on a neighboring forum?

People sell their accounts either to be used for fraud or to join signature campaigns. The campaign manager monitors the quality of signatures, and if he notices that the account has been sold, he may not include it in the signature campaign. The same applies to trust. It is true that in the other forum there is no trust system, but your gaining trust there is because They trust you here. Personally and as of today I would not leave feedback on any account on this forum because of what happens on another one. If something happens in that forum it is a problem there, as several members have said.

I think in fact that what the OP raises is less of a problem than the opposite: people with a bad reputation here being teleported there, as they don't put problems to people with several red tags to be teleported. But in any case that's that forum's problem, not ours.

it is not necessary, the Bitcointalk forum does not have a partnership with the forum. if what happens is buying and selling accounts on this forum, that's a problem. but if what is being sold is an account that was teleported to the forum, then there will be no problem with the admin or DT members on this forum.
let each forum handle its own problems. with the existing regulations and rules in each forum. there is no need for a cross-forum policy.

• Indeed it is somewhat ridiculous and a weird question, I would have asked that you needed to make the post in the neighboring forum and not here. But I understand that it is related to trust and it concerns us here.
• I would have loved these forums to operate separately, ofcourse because they are separate. 
• But one thing crossed my mind also. Since we have almost the campaign managers here also in the other forum, if I fall out of love with Royse777 here for instance, he might transfer the grudge to the neighbouring forum vice versa. 
• Does this mean that if I commit a crime in the neighboring forum, I can get punishment here?   
• If yes, you have raised a very important issue for discussion 
• There's more things on teleporting than we see. If a username is teleported, also reputation is teleported 
• But it is in the hands of the altcoiners to detect a sold account in their forum and not Bitcoiners here

As we know, there is a neighboring forum that is starting to get busy for some reason, and we can teleport the account there. So what happens if someone sells their account on a neighboring forum? Maybe it hasn't happened yet, but someday it might happen when the neighbor forum becomes bigger than it is now. (I mean selling teleport accounts from bitcointalk accounts)

It's totally a non-ethical thing because the friends you have on this forum might be present on that forum as well and if someone sells his/her account of that forum to someone else then the imposter can pretend to act like you and may ruin your friendship with your buddies on this forum.

This forum doesn't have any links with that neighbor forum but it's ethically and morally not right to sell your same name account on another forum. Who knows if that forum somehow grows due to the attention it's getting and the pretender who bought your account might break the rules of that forum.

That's also a valid concern because now m!xers are teleported at that forum and there's chance that in future that forum can be the only place where m!xers will advertise their services and with its growth many users will love to spend time on that forum because the opinions they will get on that forum will also come from genuine members.

Let the other forum decide on what will happen to that person, since the account was not sold here in BTT, so I don't see how justice can be done here. The other forum don't give a fuck about what happens over there like account abuse, neither do they take the offenses that BTT take serious very serious. When you plagiarize, you will only have a negative Karma, unlike here that it will lead to the ban of your account. I wouldn't blame them over there as they have few users and nothing like signature campaign. If not for the ban of mixers that forum would have still remain like a ghost land.

As far as I know, teleported account must add their profile link, from where they originally teleported from. So, if you were to sell your teleported account it might actually backfire on you when the buyer does something fishy or try to scam somebody. Because both accounts are connected. So are you willing to risk all the effort/hardwork/time you have spent to grow/build your current account? I don't think so. No well minded person would do such a thing (My personal opinion).

Yes that's true. However, if there is a famous member like you, maybe people will easily trust you because they think it's you on another forum. Hopefully someone doesn't claim member popularity on bitcointalk by creating the same username on a neighboring forum, because that could be very dangerous.

negative karma will happen to that account. the buyer would be smart enough to learn that a teleported account means the real one is in BTT.  those teleported accounts are just the extensions of the accounts in here.

thats why the admin there does want the link to remain as proof that you handle the account. i saw one from telegram that his account username was registered in altcoin talk. he is looking closely at the account.

If you are tagged for a proven scam that was done on the other forum then you will be affected. But if someone tags you for trolling, personal dis-likeness or anything else that happen on the other forum which is clearly not a good reason to tag on this forum then I don't think the tag will matter at all.

Do you mean it's better if we teleport the account there? Instead of having our account cloned or having the username imitated in another forum? This sounds logical to me and perhaps regardless of whether we want to use that account or not, at least no one can claim our account on another forum.

Well, no, this summary is not correct. Reputation is not teleported by default, you can pay to have it done, but I don't think anyone is dumb enough to have negative reputation (at least clearly negative, with more negative feedback than positive from DT) and pay to have it teleported.

It's worth it for those who might have enough trust ratings on this forum but for other members who don't have any trust ratings or not enough trust ratings on this forum then it's not a worthy thing.

I've noticed that trust system on that forum is somewhat different from this forum and I hardly see any positive feedback on any member's profile on that forum.

Not sure whether they will run away with the funds or not but according to their admin they enabled the shop so they can support the forum. But I guess most users won't ever purchase anything from the shop.

Nobody had ever heard of that forum before the mixer ban here. They are clearly capitalizing on a one-off deal to its fullest extent. The whole thing reeks of opportunism.

My head actually thinks otherwise, they won't close the shop as long as there are still people willing to buy it.

Yes, very different, and maybe in the future they can change it with suggestions from members of this forum. But the most important thing is that I hope they improve the UI of the site, too many SMF features enabled and too many boards, it's giving me a headache. Moreover, there is a rules banner at the bottom of each page which uses very large images which are very distracting

But I agree with nutildah, we have no right to judge. This is a great opportunity that they have got and hopefully they can take advantage of the opportunity well

I also do think that in the future, their rules over there will not change drastically. Maybe it could gradually blend with the rules of Bitcointalk because the teleported users entered with bitcointalk vibes and all the suggestions there are according to what is obtainable in bitcointalk. Why I believe that their rules won't change drastically (maybe issuing ban instead of -ve karma for plagerism), is because they have something like executives or boards that sit and make decisions. Unlike here where issues are treated case be case and both admin, mods, staff and even DT members can just act without consultations

I don't think it is necessary to compulsorily teleport your account to that forum even when you don't wish to discuss there for the fear of being impersonated. Stating a disclaimer here that you are not in Altcoinstalks is enough to disregard any account impersonating you, or destroy it with -ve karma

Selling a teleported Altcoinstalk account is a matter for the Altcoinstalk forum and their admins. It doesn't and shouldn't have anything to do with your reputation on Bitcointalk. In other words, if you teleport your account from Bitcointalk to Altcoinstalk and then one day realize that there is a market for such accounts and many interested buyers, your sale of such an account shouldn't affect your Bitcointalk reputation.

That's my opinion, but it doesn't mean that some DT member won't see it differently and tag you if you do that. I personally wouldn't.
