I have been here in this forum for a long time and I have an on and off relationship with gambling and I don't know if it's because I don't search so much or there's really no one that's doing this but is there any website that offers chess matches where the winner will win the pot money that was pooled together by the two players fighting? I assume there's none of that yet but imagine the stuff that could happen when this is real, Carlsen playing for a 2 million dollars pot money against Nakamura, FIDE and WCF would definitely be mad about this if this is real.

Same here, on and off with my love for chess, I recently just following it though as my son is into chess. But as far as discussion with this "sport",

Wouldn't it be better to just set it up as an official tournament instead of setting it up like poker? I mean sure if two players were able to agree that they'd bet on a match then yea feel free, but I don't think anyone would do such a thing, officially at least, since chess is probably one of the most skill-intensive games out there where there's close to zero that luck can play into, especially if you go to the top level players like Magnus Carslen and other gms.

Though I guess if it was about the money, then yeah, FIDE would have nothing to the 2 mil pot but then again, I don't think gms (or anyone good at the game really) would have the feel to bet that much to play against each other nor would they even agree to such a thing.

By the way, this is an interesting idea. I think that chess and many other logical board games could be developed in a decentralized manner. Although centralized chess federations have certainly achieved some success in popularizing chess and increasing the prestige of this sport, time does not stand still. However, it is difficult to expect that any start-up decentralized chess campaign will become immediately popular. Famous players could also play for the common pot. But they are smart people and prefer to ruin sponsors). This strategy is a win-win, and as we know, great chess players understand strategies.

Players who is playing the game cannot bet on anything, otherwise, there will be some potential match-fixing. Also, the origination who held the tournament are gonna to restricted any player who got caught betting on their match.

The problem, there is no verified resource to check the (ELO) ratting of players who betting on the game. People who have higher ELO can smurfing on the game or maybe you play against higher ELO.

I'm sure you are gonna to lose, since (CHESS) are not by luck.

I remember seeing a discussion about it and I also remember reading that this type of chess gambling could become a cheater's den, what I mean about it is that people will open two games, one with another person and the other is with AI and whatever move their opponent(the person) makes they'll copy it and use it against the AI and whatever move the AI made against it will be used against their opponent. basically, their opponent will be fighting against an AI.

I'v not come across any casino offering a Chess competition or Chess gambling and personally I just can't imagine what exactly bits going to look like because I'm trying to place my understanding around the fact that I will have to place bets on any of the two players and if he wins I win then how about the player what does he get in return?.

Chess is a game of intellects and not something that's randomly picked and bets been placed on them. Most gamblers would not really buy into gambling on chess because only a few of the understand the game and most chess masters will not want to sit at a casino while people place stakes on them as they play but then if it's possible I think any of the casino can give it a trial to put up such but what's really common with chess Is organizing competitions and then giving the winner a price.

Unless you want to get robbed then play with this casino. Coinplay has an existing scam accusation and active flags for violation here against forum user that play in that casino. Playing in that casino is high risk so I hope you should retract this suggestion of scam site.

@OP I doubt that there’s a casino offering a pure skill based gambling games such as chess. Casino has a lot of profit from the typically luck based game like slots compared to a minimal fee on a chess game that consume longer time per round.

Once those guys in the street chess game see you in the winning big stash, they will remember your face, you will never find someone who will play with you. Looking for people to play with online is finding a needle in a haystack.

If only people were that desperate to find someone to play with in the PvP platform, I think people wouldn't have a hard time betting against another player.  But if you are going to dive into a tournament to win a big pot, chess hustlers will already have an impression you are that confident in chess. They will assume you really have the highest skills.

You can invite someone in telegram to play with you using the @ChessNowBot maybe you can arrange with people interested in chess too.

Will be possible thru P2P as with the normal gambling procedure between the two parties or players. Same thing goes with other sports which aren't that popular or not played usually. Perhaps the analogy is like this, out of 20 people, 10 are playing basketball while 5 does with chess. On the same analogy, 20 people are familiar with chess and same goes with Basketball however, the difference with communities between the two is that more people find other sports as more entertaining than Chess. To put it simple, gambling games which are being offered, in particular with sports betting are those sports which are "in demand" simply because sports providers are targeting larger groups of people with the same interest.

I often see chess gambling in the streets, played by some elders. Bets aren't that much and I guess those are just to add more thrill to the game itself and not primarily to promote or intensify the competition unlike with other sports such as billards (not offered by majority of the sports provider), basketball, and football matches.

I think you will have a hard time looking for such a website. The reason might be, that it's hard to deal with someone here since we don't know if we are playing against a real human or a bot. A talented player might also become a suspect for a robot even if they are not.

Maybe the best thing to do is, to consider creating a thread and set up a tournament here. Pot money should be handled by a reputable forum member to ensure that the winner will be paid fair and square. Try to check if there will be interested participants that will join.

There's a way to detect if someone's using an AI when they're playing chess, if you play at Chess.com, they have a system I think that can detect if a third-party software or the use of an AI was used to cheat on that match, you can always report the match so that someone check on it to see if someone did cheat on that particular match. As much as we think that it's impossible to implement this, I think that this can work but the person that will create this needs to have a lot of people that will check for cheaters and even a system to check for one before they can deploy.

Do you guys know Uno right card game with 4 colours because yesterday I played UNO online by Mattel and the system is similar to gambling but with fake money so you need a coin to make an entry and gonna win money if you win.

Well, I will also like to see betting being done on major Chess tournaments, because I am also a good Chess player.

This has to be at a proffesional level and it has to be "live" streamed games. I play on Chess.com and I regulary get awarded points for people who cheated. (They have a system to detects when players are using a computer to assist in their moves)

if chess gambling I'm more interested if there is a gambling website that runs p to p chess gambling. player vs player. than having to place bets on chess matches. chess matches are better to play alone than having to place bets for Grand master class chess matches even though I'm not interested in placing bets. it's better to play alone compete alone against other chess players.

I have never heard of chess gambling, but I have seen a chess match in my area, even though I am not very good at playing chess, when I saw two people playing chess I was interested in trying it. However, in my opinion, playing chess is not easy for everyone, because chess is related to everyone's intelligence and precision.
And coming back to this thread about chess gambling, I think it definitely exists but it's not as well known as slot gambling etc. because maybe only a few people do it.

Oh, sorry, so it's a PvP style of playing, perhaps you might have to look at online tournaments to make a bet?

Perhaps chess, although for some might not be sports, and because of that, it's going to be hard for what the OP is looking for, just saying. And if you play against AI based, then it might be hard to bet them or even score a draw.

When it comes on playing chess then it would really be that best that you should really be just that playing person to person kind of approach and its more entertaining and the ambiance
isnt comparable when we do play online.I havent seen any crypto based chess gambling but im aint sure if there are some those traditional chess sites on which you could really be able to fight someone on. The only issue that i do worry on this kind of set up on which there's no way that we could really be able to assure if our opponent online isnt a bot because on that
case it is really that too unfair considering that there's no way that we could be able to see up on whose out opponent whether a real person or just a bot.

This is what I was thinking too when I was writing about this post, if it can be done on the streets then it can be done online right but then I see the concerns about cheating in chess using AI, I don't think that it's going to be a problem though as there are AI detection systems out there to determine if someone's cheating and I don't think that if anyone out there would do this, they would definitely have a way to implement this so hopefully we get to see this in the future.
