I have once conceived such a thought but then it is a fallacy. The thing is you don't know when you will win and so staking high consistently is always a challenge and so a gambler prefers betting with a small amount and then using a larger amount occasionally or when he has a win and then when he loses he laments that if he had used small amount he would have won. There is a psychology at play there. I tend to take extra care vigilance when I make my bet with little cash than with huge cash. I am not too sure how certain this taught of yours is but I can say I have experienced such things sometimes when I decide to increase my stakes but most of the time the results is actually good as in I win the bet while sometimes I loose out on the bet so for me I think it depends on the period of time and how luck decides to treat you also but although their is this certain cautiousness that comes when you think of increasing your stake that's may sometimes make you be just be too careful.

Unfortunately we tend to care more about our losses than our wins, that's why we think that imo. When we get some big winnings we are happy but we don't look carefully at it because we know will lose it soon but when we lose we pay more attention and we find it unfair if we lose much funds while being cautious and bet small amounts.
