OP was right when he said the gambler now have two problems, which I believe what he(op) meant was that the gambler lost money, and as well, not also lost his tv when he broke it. Though op did not mention the type of TV the gambler broke, but I need not tell you that some TVs can be really really expensive, and if the TV broken is one of those expensive ones, then the gambler definitely have lost something, and that will also contribute and increase his anger the more; no doubt about that.

Then would it be better to call it a nuance, then a real problem? Repairing any TV is not a problem today. Expensive or old CRT TV, everything can be fixed. Money always can be earned. But anger management or heater temper is a problem. You cant fix it by snap of fingers. You cant go to a drug store and buy a pill from that. You cant go to "specialist", give him money and walk out from a cabinet as a different person.

If a person see a broken TV as problem, lost bet as a problem. Then I dont want to be that person when he faces real problems, like uncured disease for example.

Whenever there is a big event like the World Cup, Big time Boxing when gamblers are betting huge money, we see people smashing their huge TV sets, out of frustration, until there are reports that these people are doing this for content, to gain views on their social media accounts but there are some who do this for real, I would not let this happen in our home, TV sets are expensive here in our country, it's equivalent of one-month saving.

Anger management is critical especially if something triggers it. Our bodies react out of sudden frustration and sometimes the results are worse. The adrenalin is too much for the person while under that status that ended up in random reckless actions.

Anyway, what I'm surprised about is, putting decent bets on low odds. It's even more risky than putting decent bets on high odds. There's no such thing as safe odds and even for others that such odds exist, can someone have the guts to put decent value for example @1.00 to @1.2 odds? That's just like me but I am still controlling myself somehow. I just jabbed my monitor a while ago because of frustration. this is a sad story that I have read for the umpteenth time and there are many more stories that are almost the same, some are even worse when a gambler who gambled with money he couldn't afford to lose ended up committing suicide.
of the many stories, this is one of the things that must be taken from the positive side, namely never doing things that you cannot afford to do, like what your friend did. this is one action that should not be imitated anyone and we all have to understand the risks if we forcing to gamble using hot money which should be used for daily needs but is used for gambling but ends up losing, feeling emotional and venting his emotions on the things around him.

I've seen folks smash their TVs after their team chokes in a big game.  They ain't even got money on it! The difference is they got cash to burn so they just buy another flatscreen right after.  Probably an upgrade over the busted one and  i knew this guy who put his fist through the screen when his squad lost in the finals - had a cast on for weeks but you better believe he had a new TV delivered that same day.  Yeah, fandom makes you crazy sometimes.

I wouldn't say the neighbour of the OP is nothing compared to your circle of friends because the OP's neighbour lacks in money while your circle of friends is the opposite of it. They can do those things maybe because they are heavily attached on their teams already but are people like this still normal?   The first mistake your friend made was to think that his game (no matter how small the odds might be) was 100%. If your stakes will affect you when you lose it means you just risked what you can not afford to lose, with OP storyline it would be better when the gambler didn't risk what he could afford to lose and not to risk what he can not afford to lose.
