Hi,

I have a friend who has been using a site - eag.cc to transfer ethereum to. This looks like a classic scam site. Is there any clear ways to determine if this site is BS? It appears scammy to me.

eag.cc

Thoughts?

Many thanks in advance.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Have you heard of the website/service, ever? No? Then it's either a scam or just a new platform. But regardless if it's just a new platform, you still have no business depositing your money in, maybe until given enough time and the site has gained a good reputation.

Also, the domain itself looks like a scam website already. No sane businessman/entrepreneur would use such a domain for a website that will supposedly be used by the masses.

It's easy
You can search online
Like for example eag.cc review
This is how I check new or unknown websites to Me
And the search engine would do the rest
A site like this is not advisable to invest in
Even if it's legit,  it not been backed by CAC is a huge risk
Checked your site and the reviews showed that the site is a scam
Even the domain name speak volumes to its illegitimacy.

Avoid that site.

The site domain had been created since many years ago but I was unable to see a single review about the site on sites like Trustpilot.

There are many sites that you can trade futures: https://www.coingecko.com/en/exchanges/derivatives

I am wondering why newbies will leave the legit sites and go for non reputable ones like the one mentioned by OP.

If something new to you or your friend much better avoid it since we don't know how they provide there service since they don't have any reputation nor have legitimate people that can verify their legitimacy if they want some services in related to what they want ex. Trading or investment much better if they just seek some platform which have a thread in this forum so that they you guys can easily verify the reputation of the platform and can assure that you are in good place when you want to do a transactions with them.

Better choose those reputable platform than trying to risk or have an interest about it so that no feeling of getting deceive will came out on our minds and also we can avoid to lose our money due to those scam platforms pretend to offer good services.

Is there any clear ways to determine if this site is BS?

If it's one of those "Trading sites where you deposit coins, make a lot of money on autopilot, withdraw and then pay a massive withdrawal fee only for the site to disappear" websites, then yes it is a scam.

That is the basic formula for telling scammy websites apart from legit ones.

Also there is: Does it have a very short user registration process? The more emails and steps the website makes you go through before you can use your account (as long as they don't involve depositing money) the more such a site feels like its being ran by an actual company.

The design of the site can say a lot, it looks like it is from the last century with a large advertising banner, and the service does not work on smart contracts and therefore is closer to exchanges that work on APIs, and there are thousands of alternatives that you can find by clicking on my signature or visiting the Bestchange website.

well, you are most likely correct, it is a scam. the website doesn't have an online presence, I mean, eag.cc won't show any info about its website if you search it on Google, you have to put the domain name on the URL search bar to go to their website, they also have a shitty website design which is commonly used by scam exchange website(I've seen similar design from scam exchange websites before).

The easiest way to see if such websites were made to scam their users is by trying to find if other cloned versions already exist or not.

Sure there is. Rule of thumb: if something looks to be good to be true = scam.

This site that you shared offers 0.3% daily return which at first it may seem like not much, but then if you multiply it by let's say 30 (average month) you get 9% monthly return (or ~100% yearly) which no legit business can offer.

In addition to check if the site is legit or is a scam check the domain in whois.com check the date if it's new then you can't trust the site.
Since the domain mentioned is an old domain to check if it's legit or not you need to use archive.org and check what it was before.

By checking the domain you provided above it seems that this domain was changed in hand on November 5, 2023. As you can see on the archive it wasn't the same as what the site looked like before meaning this is new and possible the scammer is trying to fool you by using the old domain.

It doesn't even have policies and TOS and its chat support doesn't respond.

The weird thing is how you found this site if it was from your friend how did your friend get this site? Or are you just taking some ideas from us to improve your site?

There is no were on the internet that the website eag.cc has any visibility on the search engine. This is the first sign to run for dear life.

Do not go trying out new sites with your funds unless they have a demo where real money is not needed.

As at this moment, eag.cc has no reputation at all and should not even come up in a discussion. Rather more reputable websites should be discussed. If a friend is persuading me to sign up on this website, that friend will be treated like criminal because I will think that he or she is working with them to scam me.

I do the complete opposite. When I come across something for the first time I immediately think scam and categorize it as such, I now need to convince myself otherwise based on certain criteria depending on what platform it is, if it doesn't convince me at least uk to 90%, I still categorize it as a scam.

In this case this website has little to no online visibility despite being registered 2 decades ago, the domain name also looks like something that was simply thrown together. A scam in my opinion.

I have a question to all the people who go to these sites, but it will probably remain unanswered: why do you do it? What makes you interested in these shady sites. What are you trying to achieve?

Don't google a site to invest, ask here, or go to review sites and pick the ones that have legit reviews and that people recommend. Don't take reviews for granted though. Don't be like "oh, 5 stars, this must be good, here's my money." Be cautious and if you're not sure, send a few dollars there, see if they allow you to withdraw, how much does it take for the deposit to arrive, test them out.

Yeah the domain name of the site is really really important especially when it's supposed to serve the general public because the impression it possess is what's actually gonna attract or scare users from accessing the site. Not too long ago, a friend of mine actually complained of actually depositing huge amount of funds to proposed broker saying that they can help me grow his crypto but obviously it was a really big scam projects it just pains me that he actually didn't check the site registration to see how long it has lasted and even the name was looking fishy but still ignored and still fell victim.

As a newbie, there is the need to avoid some sites most especially those that take services to provide service as third parties,  such as review sites.

There is a need to be proactive in your approach to things and also take the time to put everything in place to sustain that security because the majority of those sites are all scams are and being paid to promote those sites indirectly.

Exactly my thoughts... I sometimes allow them to their fate cus there's alot going on already -- and as long as you're a member of this forum, there's been several informative threads on supposed scam sites .. maybe he got enticed by their services? Or maybe he's looking for some shitty site that wouldn't ask for KYCs cus he wanna pull a stunt with his account?? Cus what else??
The weird thing is how you found this site if it was from your friend how did your friend get this site? Or are you just taking some ideas from us to improve your site?
Could this be the case? It's obvious that he knows the site ain't legit, so what's the questioning for?... Just asking though
I have a question to all the people who go to these sites, but it will probably remain unanswered: why do you do it? What makes you interested in these shady sites. What are you trying to achieve?
They'll never give a valid response...

First comes first, always trust your instinct. So if you feel that there's something off on that website and you think that it's a scammy and you're suspicious with it then, just do it and avoid it at all cost. Okay, my impression of the website, it looks like an android app and quickly made. At some point, what makes me think that OP might be really asking for genuine thoughts about it if it's a scam or someone who knows this website or likely close to it and tries to give them some exposure for you and I to visit them for being curious.

The weird thing is how you found this site if it was from your friend how did your friend get this site? Or are you just taking some ideas from us to improve your site?
Yeah, plus he's a brand new account posting this as his first thread. Seems planned. But giving the benefit of the doubt, I hope that it's the latter.

If you are not sure if it's a scam or not because the one who told or recommend you the site is your friend then ask your friend to show it yourself if it really is not a scam and also you have to see him use it many times to observe if your friend doesn't lose his money or not at all. If I were you then I should have just stay away from it completely and never ever use it even once. This is what I always say to my friends who know crypto that they shouldn't engage or access any platform that they haven't know of or heard about it until you are done doing some research about the platform/website.

OK, OK, Ok. You guys got me. I actually got in this situation because I was in some stupid bumble conversation with this "girl" and the topic at some point turned to crypto. Of course I was like "here we go". but I was intrigued into how "her scam" was gonna work and of  to let Bumble know they had a scammer on their site. So it basically went like this... she showed me how to set up a crypto account with crypto.com and an defi account.... both of what I checked and are legit in as far as being actual well known tools. But then came the part where I needed to transfer the etherium I owned in paypal over to the defi app. And that's where this totally off the wall website eag.cc came in. I don't even know what this is but it she was giving me screenshots and so I went to that page and was like "whoooooooaaaaah nelly".... this is where the "magic" happens. I of course looked it up, even did the ICANN search and all that and there was just like NOTHING about eag.cc. so I was of course like this is some typical romantic scam 101.  At this point, I told her that I was totally fine with moving money into my crypto.com from my paypal, but his eag.cc middleman thing was way too far above my paygrade. Of course the whole thing stunk to high heaven and I did not move shit. But I wanted to get folks thoughts here cuz i don't even know what was the game here other than to get my funds from paypal into whatever this EAG bullshit was of which I have no idea how the whole endgame goes other than me losing money somehow. I had a moment where it was SO classically a scam that I actually doubted myself for a second and cuz I thought maybe I was missing something so I just wanted to check my head here. 'she" wanted to me to send $500 bucks and apparently we were "shorting".

So now I can report her as a scammer to Bumble. Cut off my communication to her in a stealthy way. And report that EAG.cc site to regulators or someone somehow (any help here?).

She had some interesting reasons for why that site was legit. But I just kindly declined. She became "offended" as expected that I didn't trust her.

Thanks for everyone's help. Even though I am a newbie, I wanted to follow the rabbit hole and actually try and get this POS busted.

Too bad, I really thought this gorgeous ukrainian girl that was 10 years younger than me had a stepdad that was in the know like she told me so I could get rich off crypto and run off with the Ukranian Angel. Pooper!

Thanks everyone for ruining my perfect future  Cheesy

C

I am wondering why newbies will leave the legit sites and go for non reputable ones like the one mentioned by OP.
