Hello,

I stored some btc on non custodial wallet before 2019. Can't remember which one it was.
Would be great if I could find a full list of ALL noncustodial wallets before 2019 or we can find this.

Every help is appreciated  thank you.

You do not need to know the name of the noncustodial wallet if you have the seed phrase. I mean BIP39 seed phrase. You can use it to access the wallet on any BIP39 supported wallet.

Or it is the wallet file that you have. What is the file name? You will need the wallet password for the recovery if encrypted.

As mentioned above, if you have a seedphrase or private keys, it probably doesn't matter which wallet you have been using.

So what do you need the list for? and which platform was it (PC or mobile)? That could help us.

I switched from wallet because I wanted to collect my forks and I did collect those. Only I can't remember which wallet I placed my btc. I have the computer still in place where I did everything on. I just need remember where to search for I probably hidden the seed phrase on the computer.

The best is to backup your seed phrase on offline, like on a paper or on a steel or titanium sheet. Do not backup your seed phrase online or on a computer or mobile device. This is for security reasons.

You saved the seed phrase on a computer? You can research about data recovery tools if any of it can be of help. This can help recover deleted files on computer and mobile devices.

So what you’re looking for was the wallet that actually hold your bitcoin before you claimed the forks. That wallet depends on the wallets you have on your device, but just know that any wallet that gives you private key access are your go to wallet. Example could be bitcoin core and electrum.

But if it is the wallet that you use to claim those forks then it will be any but a bitcoin only wallet. So go through your laptop again and list which wallets are there

Where do I let the recovery data tools search for? are there specific wallet files that I can search for or for seed phrase? seems a little harsh. Any help would be nice here (ty)

It's possible some malware Fork wallet already stole your Bitcoin. Why would you "switch wallet" instead of create a new wallet and keep the old one?

This doesn't make much sense. If you stored a seed phrase on your computer, you'll have to look at all files containing text. Or maybe even images. You can have given it any name you wanted, so there's no point asking us.

You need to organize your files Tongue And take a look at [overview] Recover Bitcoin from any old storage format.

Each wallet software store it's wallet file on certain location. For example,
  • Bitcoin Core: C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Bitcoin. On that folder, find file called "wallet.dat".
  • Electrum: C:\Users\Chloe\AppData\Roaming\Electrum\wallets. On that folder, you should see one or more file without extension.

So assuming you don't have any hard, paper copy of your seed at all, I'd start by looking in your home folder (/home or C:\Users). Then look in the desktop, documents, downloads, ... etc.

Do you still have all those programs installed? I hope so. Because otherwise your task going to be much harder since you'll have to source every wallet's website for a download link to download it again, and it may not even be the right one on top of that.

Did you install it or you used standalone version? And what operating system you are using on computer?
If your wallet was installed in windows than you can easily find the list of installed programs.
I would first search for Electrum, as most forked shitcoins forked this wallet also.

I used freewallet.org to claim my forks and I think I sent it to a standalone wallet. only I am not sure now the transfers on my account look really weird.  I not have enough expertise to see what happened. Maybe you guys can guide me to a onchain detective that can help to see what happened?

Also I read allot of bad thinks about freewallet.

That's not going to help you at all. You'll have to search your own files for clues. Knowing which wallet you used isn't going to help you if you don't have the wallet files, seed phrase or private keys.

Hello. Are you aware of how many wallet softwares exist? Including those that support altcoins, the list is very big and it's obvious that there isn't a list like that, at least not an "official" list. I mean, perhaps you can find a list that some person had written in the past somewhere on a blog or post, but you can't be sure that it includes all the wallets.

Anyway, even though I think it's not a good idea to search like that, let me add some possible wallets, you never know... We may get lucky. Please note that some of them, I didn't even know they existed. So I am certainly unaware whether they are good or reputable, or even if they are still operational.
