Thats cool but also not really surprising. these sport teams need funds and money to keep the team alive. sports are expensive and when you are professionally competing it would be even more expensive.
i think this gives proper exposure to both the team and bitcoin so its definitely a win-win situation here.
this reminds me of a f1 team, alpine, being sponsored by binance and is offering fan tokens
this shows how relevant crypto is and how it is being used widely by influential people in the world.
Why not surprising? Has any football club done this before? I think the ones that I saw are only being sponsored by a crypto gambling or crypto exchange. Also the one here can sell their shirt and other items using BTC as payment method, and yeah it's so cool. Don't worry about the funds because like I and OP said, they are having a business and then they might also accept donations.
For sure, a lot of BTC/crypto enthusiast are going to donate at them as they love their initiative, and what if one day they can also get a sponsorship? But I think, fame is not enough to get one but they also need to play better, if in case they don't yet.
I don`t sure, but as i remember - Watford wanted to make print BTC and sell shirts in 18-19 season. Today they have Stake.com as a sponsor
Benfica sold souvenirs for cryptocurrencies the same time, Miami Dolphins accepted LTC for payment, West Ham and some more teams created their fan tokens, etc.
So it is not new idea to get some more money from cryptocurrency users.
