the fact that this team accepts bitcoin as a payment method, just shows how bitcoin is evolving in that country, I hope that this team is not breaking the country's laws, because there are many countries in which no matter how much the government of that country accepts bitcoin, it allows that people buy, sell and trade bitcoin, but when they are in front of a popular company, or in this case a popular football team, that has a lot of fans, then the government starts to prohibit these large companies in the country from publicizing that accept bitcoin. I hope that's not the case with this team. Since the US SEC approved bitcoin, even my country's central bank encouraged people in my country to invest in bitcoin

So, as I don't know the laws of this country, I hope that we are also faced with a case in which the government does not create problems in accepting bitcoin. I'm also wondering how many fans of this team will buy tickets using bitcoin mainly because bitcoin is increasing in price a lot and with that people will tend to do hodl and not spend bitcoin to make payments. people will no doubt think why they would take 50 euros in bitcoin to buy a shirt from that team knowing that if they hodl 50 euros in bitcoin, in the future that money could be a decent amount of money

By this I mean that the idea of adding bitcoin as a payment method is a very good idea, but in practice few people will be using bitcoin for payments at the moment and the price of bitcoin is increasing a lot, it makes more sense to use fiat at this moment to pay for everything and use bitcoin to hodl and reap the profits in a few years. If this team probably receives any payment in bitcoin, it would be good if they kept the bitcoin for some time until they sold it for a very high price and that way they would make more profit

Botev is one of the few professional football clubs that have bitcoin logo on their shirt, so I think this could be interesting gift to someone and it is not that expensive.

This is not recent news, they adopted bitcoin in the 3rd quarter of last year and have stuck at it since then up until now. I hope they got some bitcoins in their stockpile and are benefiting from the current increase in price.

I think that maybe in lack of a better sponsor, they chose this creative way to fund their team for this year.

It's likely that local sponsor market isn't that ambitious especially when it comes for a team that's 8th in the standings. Surely with better funding they could do better things because transfers and better coaches really can uplift a team a lot.

The issue is that when it comes to doing something like this, unless they attract a more reliable sponsor like a big crypto-based casino (which is likely what they're hoping for in the long run for sponsorships), probably they won't get that much money from crypto users.  That's because oddly enough people don't like spending their crypto that much. If I told you to pay for a jersey in company stock from one of your investments, would you go in that trouble? Probably not. I think of it like in this analogy.

Oh great, I am loving this! Football is the biggest sport in the world, and if they advertise Bitcoin, that would be a really good thing for worldwide Bitcoin adoption! Good on Bulgaria for this idea!

That's so cool, when it comes to seniority, the first thing that I almost always think about when it comes to bitcoin adoption is that the oldest one is going to be the one that's going to adopt bitcoin the last but Botev seems to be a norm breaker for me because they're the oldest and they've already adopted bitcoin for awhile now, if I recall that block height isn't any of the recent years right? If so then that means that they've been a believer to what bitcoin is, it's also really good for the FC's finance too right? i think this gives proper exposure to both the team and bitcoin so its definitely a win-win situation here.

Yes, I welcome all this kind of news, in that it seems to be good publicity for the team and also for bitcoin, but limited. The biggest teams in Europe don't seem to be carrying the bitcoin logo on their jerseys in the near future because they have too many sponsors available. It would be a dream to see teams like Real Madrid wear a bitcoin logo on their jersey.

I am not surprised about this, it all depends on the management of the establishment we are talking about. If the people behind the management can be such that follow and reason positively about Bitcoin then a thing like this can't be surprising.

I expect more to follow suit because Bitcoin has entered the mainstream of the financial market and payment system already, there is no hiding or fear about it anymore, so more companies will join soon.

Not to mention the investment around Bitcoin, though the Bulgaria football club may still have a partnership with some companies dealing with Bitcoins for easy exchange, notwithstanding, it's a very good development. Are Russians still allowed to own clubs in Europe? That's interesting in itself. I thought owning assets in EU as a Russian, especially after the Special Military Operation by Russians was either frozen or confiscated. That being said, it is interesting that a top flight team in Bulgaria is completely relying on Bitcoin for their merchandising. Their website is very slow for me and I'm unable to view their "why Bitcoin?" page. With recent upswing in BTC price, they might be in decent profits for this year at least.

This information made me to do a quick search which I just find out that Botev Plovdiv is one of the oldest football club in Bulgaria and it is also the first football club to adopt Bitcoin payment for their services. You are correct. We all know everyone organisation and individual wants more money so I would not be surprised if that is their intentions and if that is a strategy for them to get more money it is left for them as I have no idea what they are up to but I only see it as a good publicity and awareness campaign they have put up for their fans to know more about Bitcoin which is very much encouraging and applaudable.

I don't think there is any conflict of interest for posting it on Gambling board. After all the club is promoting Bitcoin and a club means there will be sports and sports means gambling.
