Binance Referral Code Not Working in My Region

Casino bonus is not redeemable, I sent a friend my referral code to create a account on Binance. There is a small reward for this. However, when my friend tried it, they said that the referral code doesn't work in my region. I was so pissed. Why didn't the centralized exchange detect my region and remove the referral code rather than leaving it there when it doesn't work?

However, they didn't mention what regions or countries are not eligible.

Referral links are a type of promotion for a service. If the service is banned in that country, restricted, or Binance cannot make profits from it, it will definitely not pay you for the Referral Code. These regulations may change according to what the company wants to achieve in terms of promotional goals. support team sometimes gives answers that make you to get into more problems instead of finding solutions. Referral links cannot be at the same level for everyone, but the way the system works may not be available to everyone, so they give you general answers and every non-payment case is dealt with on a case by case basis.

Honestly, I have a feeling the agent I talked to just has no idea about it lol like what happened with my past talks to binance for the most part.

Yeah, there are other factors that may come into play on why a referral link may not work. However, I emphasized, I was only interested on region blocks alone which should be a general question just like how they can tell you a list of banned countries on their platform straight away.

Yes, same thing I noticed in their Terms and Conditions page.

Users in restricted regions are disqualified from participating in the Binance Referral Program as referrers or referred users.
I guess the users just have to find out themselves just like I did.

This is most likely the issue here, if you're from a region or country where Binance is prohibited then whether you've been trading and accessing them through a VPN with another country that's not restricted then they might have detected it. They'll still rely on your original country/region based on your address that has been sent through KYC since all Binance accounts are required to comply with KYC. Just use them and don't get into referrals anymore. You're probably still lucky that they're allowing you to access despite you're from a restricted area.

I suppose you are from Nigeria. It might have been the case that Binance didn't care to make the necessary update from their side. There was a time when referrals could be used in your region, right? But then your central bank's policies changed and Binance even suspended Naira transactions. And then things improved a bit and onboarded the Naira again. But then the platform's policy remains that "due to regulatory restrictions, Binance users residing in Nigeria or holding Nigerian nationality are disqualified from participating in the Binance Referral Program as a referrer or referred applicant."

Hey man, sorry for the slow response, it's been 5 days now and binance.com website isn't opening up on my device. I suspect is has something to do with the latest government crack down on Binance and other cryptocurrency exchange in my country. Forex Crisis: Binance, other crypto firms face ban in Nigeria

If Nigeria is on the list, then that is the reason why the referral links don't work.

@Davidvictorson, can't comment if binance messed on referrals for nigerian residents but they're not on the prohibited countries to say the least.

Nigeria remains one of the supported countries on: https://www.binance.com/en/country-region-selector and no official news from binance yet that says nigerian people are barred from their platform.

Yes, the app works fine although some days ago some Nigerian friends complained of it being inaccessible except using a VPN. I didn't encounter such issues. The only issue I had was the binance.com website not opening up..but it has been resolved.

In the several years I have used Binace Exchange, I have never done something like sending a referral link to other people I have contact with. I know that if I do that, I will be rewarded. But I was reluctant to do it because I didn't want other people to know my activities.

Regarding the referral code not being able or not functioning properly, there may be regional restrictions so that you cannot get a small prize from this activity.

Although it's good to hear that some problems are already resolved, it seems the situation in your country as regards Binance remains highly volatile. You're the one who's in there so you can properly gauge the gravity of the situation, but is it possible that Binance will stop serving Nigerians any moment from now? In which case, even using VPN might be futile.

It's unfortunate that your government, your central bank in particular, is pointing fingers at the wrong actors. I don't understand why the likes of Binance, Kraken, and Coinbase are to be blamed for the falling naira. Whatever happened to financial and economic management and policies? People choosing cryptocurrencies is the result of the Nigerian naira fast losing value; it can't be the cause.

I think what happened is that the government does not want citizens to use Binance and not the other way around, as the government has restricted access to Binance and some services. Here, using a VPN will solve the problem because the company has not officially banned users from Nigeria, and the Referral Code should work in this case.

The only case where the opposite happened was when Russian citizens were restricted by Binance, but this was under pressure from the governments of other countries.
