I used to be paranoid when I came to this industry, still I'm till now, thinking of what those criminal elements could do to me if I mistakenly flipped. Lol, it's funny that I actually do the same most of the time. 

In the past, when I was new in this industry, I used to entertain scammers because I didn't know much, even though I never got scammed by someone approaching me directly, many attempted it, and I used to fall for their traps most of the times but then realized it's a scam at the end. Nowadays, I always know it's a scam when someone approaches me. They keep trying to pull it off, and I keep playing along until, at the end, I tell them that I don't have any money to invest. 

Scammers in Telegram are generally pretty sharp, especially for those who are new. I remember I was once approached by an impersonator. I was working with an agency as a community manager, and the scammer was impersonating our supervisor. He had created an exactly similar account, with the same display picture. He asked me to lend him some money and he will return it after a couple of days. I almost fell for it, until the end, I realized that I already had a conversation with the guy, so how come this chat started froms scratch. That's what saved me.

Their target will not realize and just follow what the scammers and hackers want until they lose all they have.
