Italian main topic on bitcoin - why we have so much OFF TOPIC?

The historical thread related bitcoin in Italian section (bitcoin pump = Thread dedicated to news and considerations on market value) is a continue and constant off-topic.

Pages and pages that are not related (even remotely) to this argument.
Yes, I am not talking about few posts but literally 98% normally is not related to bitcoin.
Likewise discussion on generic laws in Italy related thiefs, or pages related house investing and everything you can think is there…

Open a random page of the last years and try to use translate you will be shocked that in a BITCOIN FORUM, in a topic related BITCOIN you can’t find ANYTHING about this.


Since yesterday, but also other times in the past years, I have been trying to explain to my "compatriots" / speakers of the same language, how important it is to talk about bitcoin in bitcoin forums in the topic dedicated to bitcoin.


Ok forum is not moderated but I cannot understand why the MAIN topic of my board is not on topic.

Many many users have left this board since it's impossible talk about bitcoin.
We are just 55 people writing (last update made by merit source) in a country of … 60 million inhabitants. Tons of people have just left since there is no chance to talk about bitcoin anymore 



What we can do to have the main thread on topic?

Maybe you should try reporting those posts that you think are off-topic to the mods. If the moderators keep deleting off-topic posts. The spammers will give up and stop going off-topic. I don't know if your local moderator is active.

Alternatively, you can vote as a community to request admin to disable signature display in the megathread or just lock it and start a new one that is self-moderated.

What we can do to have the main thread on topic?

I would send private message to a few good posters of that board and tell them to talk related to Bitcoin on that main thread. I would try my best to approach each member via a private message and tell all of them to somehow understand that the topic was about Bitcoin and posting off-topic things and irrelevant stuff would destroy the main purpose of that thread.

What we can do to talk about bitcoin in a topic related bitcoin in a forum related bitcoin? 


One possible scenario is to reply to all those off-topic members and share your opinion about Bitcoin and try to add Bitcoin in each of your post in that thread. A few of them when get such mentions will try to at least add Bitcoin in their posts as well, and then you should continue with that approach, and whenever you see someone saying something irrelevant and off-topic try to mention that person and move his/her attention towards Bitcoin. That way most posters at that thread will understand that the thread was created with Bitcoin theme and should only get posts about Bitcoin.

the problem is not related to signatures. some of these users are even not enrolled so this is not the issue.

relating "report to moderator" it has been more or less tolerated by all of us, but now it has reached frightening proportions.
Since yesterday I have basically been alone explaining to all users that it makes no sense to talk about economic concepts not related to bitcoin in a bitcoin forum, in a historical thread dedicated to bitcoin.
even though there are also other threads where they explain their "analysis" of the global economy...

I don't want this will be locked it because it's one of the oldest and active thread.
Some users have just said "You'll have to kill me if you don't want me to write anymore" ( there are no words for an idiot comment like this but it made by laughs)....

I think that the proportions of where we are and what we are doing here are really lost...
Unfortunately other legendaries are cleverly not caring and have decided not to take sides... which is why I ask you in the international section of the forum....

Yeah, that's the main issue, if they don't want to post then you can't do anything alone. If majority of members are speaking about off-topics in that thread then they won't listen to anyone. I guess only good solution to stop them is by locking that thread. Once the thread gets locked then they won't be able to continue their off topic conversation on that thread.

Alot of threads have been deviated... It looks to me like it's just the usual thing that happens on almost every LB; I'm just wondering how accurate that analysis you made is - 98% of the post is literally crap post that has nothing to do with Bitcoin? That's surprising!
The incessant posting habit is becoming like a wild spread of viral disease, thereby causing a huge degredation in learning and operational skills... I wouldn't wanna look too much into this but I sometimes ask myself questions like - what will the newly registered people learn from? From a pile of crap post that don't even align with the topic? I got registered in here and at the time, I did alot of reading which is very preferential to any new member...

just count how many ENTIRE pages talk about things not related to bitcoin. 90%? 95%? 98%?
In short, it is meaningless proportions of content not related to bitcoin. Sometimes you can read pages and pages and you can't find NOTHING on bitcoin.  I agree that bitcoin is something complex but sometimes there are discussion completely not related, far away from this world.

If locking the thread is not possible for the reasons you may have, I could only think of a solution is to report all of them over and over again to make them feel how off topic and irrelevant their posts are. Or else that thread will be completely off topic in the next few weeks.

What about leaving things as they are and that's it? From what I see it has become a kind of WO thread, maybe what we should do is to implement it like this: not displaying signatures in the thread and at the same time allowing off-topic. On top of that, I see that it has in common with the WO the title is precisely that, an observation and discussion of the price, but it ends up being like the bar where people initially go to have a few beers and talk about the price, but end up talking about anything.

I would say also this. But it has becoming pretty normal having hundreds post of spam completely un-reletad and something wrong having some on topic related bitcoin! 
Likewise you need to read some pages before you find some that is bitcoin related.
Of course it's impossible having a discussion with anyone since everyone is just posting related off topic.
I am here to talk about bitcoin. People are here for bitcoin. Not for taking beers ( I am abstemious ).

If you believe a post violates forum rules, you can send a report to a moderator. Yes, your moderator is not very active, the last time he was on the forum was two weeks ago, but believe me, your reports will not go unheeded. As it was said above, as an option, you can open a self-moderated topic, but this option is so-so, because according to my observations forum users are not very fond of writing in self-moderated topics.

Well, some replies are clearly and completely off topic and I have just reported.
This is the main topic of our board with 1301 pages! We are in a bitcoin forum, the main forum on this argument.
It's absurd that people interested in bitcoin must move in another topic....
meanwhile it seems there is "systematic" interest to derail the discussion and read wall of text NOT RELATED to bitcoin... if you talk about bitcoin, some one will "reply" to your post talking about "real estates" LOL...  I am tired of this since it's clear that these kind of users have no interest at all in bitcoin.

@Xal0lex I didn't remember if you were global mod, but can you have please a look of post reported?
More over if other MODS are reading, can you please take a look on this?

These posts have no value. These are replies that are not talking about the thread (completely unconnected) and are not interesting since these are not related to the main argument of the thread.

2. No off-topic posts.
These posts are clearly off topic. If we are talking about "what's next in bitcoin" and some one explain how it works real estate... it's impossible have a discussion with anybody and there is a clear intention to derail continuously the thread. (I don't understand why there is such interest to write off topics in this thread...)

3. No trolling.
This is a clear trolling approach. Same users have agreed to discuss about the topic of thread but less than 24 hours they are starting again talking about non-sense in this thread.... it's becoming "frustrating" to follow a bitcoin thread, in a bitcoin forum... where it's somewhat impossible talking about bitcoin....

Well these posts are not relevant since are replies unconnected with main thread argument and even are far away from messages quoted.

No, I've never been a global moderator. I repeat, if you want to make sure you are right and get a reaction from moderators, send some reports on posts that you think violate forum rules and if you get "bad" on those reports, then you are wrong.

maybe you could retitled the Italian thread to "The Italian style Wo thread."

Basically nothing, if your local moderator doesn't think that there is nothing wrong with offtopic there, and if majoriy of members don't agree with your view of the situation (whihc I guess they don't since you came here).

Open a new self moderated topic that is purely focused on bitcoin discussion. I know its not the real situtaion of the problem, but not many things that you can do.

It's something curious that in a bitcoin forum in a thread related to bitcoin you have to read all posts that are not related to bitcoin and "this is fine" it's pretty normal. Even the merit source is sharing merit to people that are posting non-sense or off topic.
Ok the message is pretty clear. Our moderator is not online since a while... that's ok.  

@philipma1957 in this topic you can find pages and pages regarding NASDAQ, NIKKEI, Real estates investments, laws made in california, long economic and unwanted analysys and more and more.
Sometimes someone is sharing something related bitcoin but is immediately shut down. that's ok. it's a mistake talk about bitcoin and the only topic still active in our subforum is full of trolls and... that's fine, just stop writing or move to other places

@Rifakip I hope that this doesn't happens even with the whole forum according your statement "majoriy of members don't agree with your view of the situation"...
