Gervonta Davis - Frank Martin WBA Lightweight Title Date to be announce

I need not create a poll here obviously Gervonta Tank Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) will be a heavy favorite against Frank Martin  (18-0, 12 KOs) this is for the WBA lightweight title.

Frank Martin was supposed to fight Shakur Stevenson but he turned down that fight and now he is in a bigger fight against Gervonta

Although Frank Martin is a heavy underdog in this fight he has a good resume, he beat tough opponents so he has a chance to upset Gervonta if Gervonta shows carelessness and underestimate Frank Martin

Davis is a former titleholder at 130 pounds who also owns wins over Mario Barrios (at 140 pounds), Leo Santa Cruz (2020 KO of the Year) and Rolly Romero. Davis also scored a ninth-round TKO victory over Hector Luis Garcia last January.

Gervonta Davis and Frank Martin have struck a deal to fight for Davis' WBA lightweight title in late spring/early summer, sources tell ESPN.
The matchup will headline a PBC on Prime Video pay-per-view.

Davis (29-0, 27 KOs) is ESPN's No. 2 lightweight and No. 8 pound-for-pound boxer. The power-punching southpaw held the WBA's secondary version of its lightweight title, but Davis was elevated after undisputed champion Devin Haney vacated his four titles to move up to 140 pounds.

Yes, I did mentioned this fight in this thread. I'm also seeing Tank Davis will be the favorite here and beating Frank Martin by knockout.

He was probably advise not to fight Shakur that time and wait for this bigger fight and obviously the paycheck that will come with it. Tank Davis though is taking the time to clean up this division, he is part of the supposedly 4 kings of this division, however 3 of them have gone up already to 140 lbs and 2 of  them have become a champion already. So Tank needs to aggressively fight the best hear and unify the belt and not just protect his record.

Though it looks like a cherry-picked fight it's still worth it as a tune fight or a step-up fight, he and Shakur can make a deal to see who is the real king of the Lightweight division now that Haney is gone, Shakur has announced that he is retired but made a comeback announcement so I'm sure they are eyeing each other in this division, Frank Martin can give a good fight but he lacks the power and the ring generalship to back up against a complete fighter like Gervonta but his is still worth watching, every Gervonta fight is worth watching even if it's a cherry-picked fight.

^^ Hard to say that this is a cherry pick or a tune up fight for Davis. This is still a big test for him as Frank Martin is a good technical boxer. Martin is rank #2 in the WBA and is also undefeated boxer. So for me it's more on Tank proving himself in this division.

Highlights of Martin against Artem Harutyunyan. Martin won, but it was a very close fight. And that is the title eliminator and that's why we will see him against Tank Davis now.

Tentative date for this fight is June as reported.

And it will be Derrick James who's going to train Frank Martin here. Kudos to him, he had 2 big profile fights, training Ryan Garcia as well.

Nevertheless, both of his fighters are the underdogs, and it will take a lot from James to proved his title to be trainer of the year as he has been in bad state lately as his fighters losing in the likes of Charlo and then one of the biggest fight last year in Errol Spence. He no longer trains AJ, who has a fight as well against Francis Ngannou.
