What do you learn from chatting with older people

Following the modernization of this generation the young people now find conversation very interesting when they discuss with their fellow young people who know what is in the modern world.
So does this mean that our grand parents are too old to chat with or we still have alot to learn from them or we have alot to teach them now. Our grand parents and other older people have very interesting parables at all times have your grandparents or parents ever told you a parable that sometimes you see things happening related to these parables for example, my dad will always call me sit me down whenever I tell him of what I intend doing and he will tell me, be foolish to be wise a man who talks like a woman is also a woman our grandparents say alot of mysterious words that later come to pass but do you think these words help you if you follow them or they are old ideas.

Today I went with my guy to visit his grandma while they where discussing though the discussion was not that interesting the guy took his phone to start operating the old woman said the problem with you young boys is this thing in your hand, the boy replied the phone? she said yes  the guy said but ma we are not saying anything important na the grandma said when you are in the present of your elders pay attention until you are done with them, actually we went there to relax but because of this we were not comfortable anymore so we didn't stay as expected.
So does the life style of the after people still have much to do in this modern generation, or it needs a mixup or better still do the modern day things and leave the old?.

I think that they aren’t just mere words but utterances from a place of experience. It is just proper that you listen to what an elderly person has to say to you because you do not know if the challenge you are facing today and looking for a solution is something their words of advice can enlighten you on.

I do not entirely understand some of the terms you used but it is really rude and disrespectful to be using your phone when someone is talking to you, let alone such elderly person.

When having conversation with elderly people,  thie words are so full of wisdom , this is one of the things you need to learn. Elderly people always talk from their own personal mistakes and it is worth learning . The words of old people is very full knowledge and it is important to always learn from older people when we have the opportunity of being close to them .

I think both the younger generation  and the older generation have something to learn from each other. The time has passed for our elders and most of their beliefs and traditions are old and outdated which might not be as applicable in the modern world. But there are a few things that have not changed in the world. I think there are still a lot from the older generation that we must value and cherish. They have lived a life and they can pass on some really good advices.

On the other hand, even though time has already passed for the older generation this does not mean they stop living. In contrast, they are trying to adapt and blend in. Which is where the younger generation comes in. The younger generation can teach and guide the elderly into the usage of technology and other developments to make sure that they can still somehow catch up to the modern world.

Whenever we do something, we follow old things, but sometimes it's a lot of work. Elderly people don't talk carelessly and their words are absolutely spoken with wisdom full with it, many elder people speak with parables because the wisdom in them are unimaginable. Technology make the young generation advanced and the technology has also made many of us very lazy to work, read and learn with practical, people uses AI to write examination on school (that's the cause of advancement makes people feel lazy to read and write). Those people live long enough to experience great (and not so great) things.  They may not achieve wonderful things in their life or get rich in their lifetime.  But for sure they have lots of experiences to share (and even failures that you can learn from).  As one of the saying: "The glory of young men is their strength, but the splendor of old men is their gray hair.  The glory of the young is their strength; the gray hair of experience is the splendor of the old.  Youth may be admired for vigor, but gray hair gives prestige to old age" They may not have the vigor of their youth but they have the wisdom because of their experiences.

Older people are the best people to have conversation with more especially those of them that are very sensible, if you keep calm and listen to theme attentively you will learn enormously, they knowledge impaction from this set of people is top notch, when my grandma was alive she always come to visit us or we visit her and she love me so much, I can't forget she always tell me something and that has helped me in this life and that's how to be economical in spending, she told me that a man or woman that spends recklessly can never be useful to himself or his family, he always mentioned the need for me to invest my money judiciously for the future, the thing is that there are very sensible people not only elderly or older people, this is natural.

The advise my parents gave to me in the past, really help me when I was mingle with wealthy friends in school those days and, I brought my self down like a fool before my friends hoping that I don't know what I was doing by learning all those things from them that is helping me now not to lack money.

Anyway, the wisdom of the old seem to have more meaning than the wisdom of the present people. And likewise the wisdom of those in the bible age. In fact, it appears like the older the generation the better their wisdom is appreciated and I believe the wisdom of today's people will be more valued and possibly preferred than those that will come in the future like the old is preferred than today. But however, things have changed and most continue to evolve.

Therefore, those who lived with their grandparents has one thing or the other that they reflect on that they can make reference to as what they learnt and are using usefully in their present reality. So, the older the wine, the sweeter it is.

I know that the older generation are more respective to the elders, their views and guidance unlike today's world and the reason can be attributed to modernity that has caused the family to lose her grip of the training of the children and has transferred it to other agents of socialization like school.

Once upon a time,  in a certain community. The young people of that very community decided that they do not want the old people again because they are not civilized. All the youths made an agreement that everyone of them should kill all the old people in their kindred. They all did kill the older people in that very community. But a certain wise son hid his father and pretended that he was dead. Live went on in the community.

One day something spectacular happened. Cow horn tied with palm leaves fell in the village's square. No one knows the significance of that. They decided to go hire an old man from another community to interpret the mystery for them, but no old man agreed to come for fear of not being killed. Calamities befell the land and everyone was going to die on the next market day. It was at the eleven hour that the wise son brought his father out to interpret the mystery and saved the community. The Father and Son became heros of the community.

Communication is not just about work, and actually for older people like parents and grandparents, they don't care too much about what you are doing, it's just a matter of whether you are stressed or happy with your current job and want to share with them or not.

I often talk to older people, share more health issues and also talk about daily food and living habits to have a healthy body and strong mind.

So don't make the mistake of thinking that we know the common social problems and take them for granted, because there are many things that actually come at some point when we pay attention and realize that there are many things in life.

IMO chatting with old people or elders will make you realize that we are missing out on something big which we may regret when we become old and that is spending time with our near and dear ones due to the technologies which has divided us, I had similar experience when I was at the dinner table and using mobile, though it was an important task and the elder of the family said when they were of our age they used to thank god for brining food to their plate and don't even used to talk with each other while having food as it's considered as disrespecting the blessing (food) which we have been blessed with wherein there are lot of people who struggle to get one time meal to their plate.

Most of their words are words of wisdom as they have lived more than us and they know what awaits for them at the end after all the wear and tear we do in the young age.

Actually, older persons who have sound mind are encyclopedias of historical data. They have passed through the heated crucibles of society and most often, they would not want the younger generation to sail through such horrendous part in life. So, whether technology or not, the younger ones still have a lot to learn from the older people. Firstly; the use of parables. These are description of events or ideas in a deeper form that it takes a sane mind to decode the meaning. It takes the form of a story of activities that transpired, and some persons gained and others lost. The causative factors are described.
Secondly; the use of adages. These are witty short sentences that express the attitude and intentions of the speaker. Certain tribes are noted for the use to educating their folks
Thirdly; the use of folklores/ tales. These are mythological narratives of events or activities played out by humans and celestial bodies which lay much emphasis on valiant trait of either party. Though, these narratives are considered as myth, it describes the realities of life engagements with seen and unseen forces that influence the fortunes and destiny of human being.

I enjoy discussing with elderly people because I learn a lot from them and the stories they tell, discussing with them will make you think wisely and also you will learn many things about life there are many advantages i gain while sitting with them my father will always tell that if I sit with foolish I will be foolish but if I sit with the wise am also a wise man
