I see you added the figurine!!  Wink  Why not add your bitcoin miner painting in the background?? That would really depict Bitcoin and the miners...artwork all in one!

Working on it!  Grin

Personally, I like a lot this work and it describes coin in a professional way. Most of user here know the book/author...That's why I made this suggestion.

Cool, will add this book!

I think everything that is marked green fits very well

Another idea that might fit quite well... maybe you can draw a small window with a crowd of people staring in, because all eyes on BTCitcoin

Something like that ?

or

You could also just draw faces or just eyes staring through the window ? - everyone is waiting for the next work of art to be finished

and last but not least just my 2 cents - the coin/quantity in circulation is very important for collectors because it increases the value - everyone's wants but very few people can

I'm glad you think so many things fit already! If only I was that satisfied haha, I keep reworking things.

As for people looking in, I think that's one question for collectors:

Would you prefer having people gazing in, waiting and wanting and all that, or would you prefer to keep things secret?

Expect a new version to come in soon, I just need to work something out first...

Cheers!

I would rather people not looking in...better in the dark mysterious and secret...thats my two Satoshi on that subject.

Just like Satoshi is a mystery....so I would imagine I wanna be as a coin maker away from the public and the rest except for the very few in our circle when we get to meet.

I completely understand the constant quest for improvement! Your dedication to refining things is what makes your work exceptional.

Regarding the question for collectors, I believe a bit of mystery adds to the allure. A balance where some elements are open for public gaze while keeping certain aspects under wraps could create an intriguing dynamic. It's like offering a sneak peek into the artistic process while maintaining an air of exclusivity.

And hey, maybe you don't need a complete overhaul. You could lead or create a way for the crowd's eyes to connect everything together. Watching how he is creating collectibles could look really cool, directing everything toward the main thing.

Excited to see the new version when it's ready. Take your time to work things out!

Thanks for your thoughts.

I think I'll go with krogothmanhattan's argument about keeping this private for now.

But it's a good idea for some completely different artwork, maybe about people having an eye on Bitcoin from beginning and being very patronizing about it and later feeling sorry not to have taken it seriously.

Maybe as part of some other narrative.

Alright, update time.

A few things happened and I got ideas for a couple of changes.

First off, I participated in the Bitcoin Pie Baking contest (which I loved the idea of), not with a pie, but with a digital artwork.

Here's the thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5485091.0

And here's the artwork:

I talked with the author of the contest RickDeckard and he commissioned a canvas to be made for the winner. So that's one thing I'm also working on at the moment.

***

I continued work on our concept and added more details and reworked the composition yet again. These are the new changes:

* The front now takes up a bit more space and the minting in the back has shrunk.
I felt the industrial-like process is interesting, but maybe not that big part of what we are interested in.

* There is a mysterious figure standing in between back and front (mr.S.N. of course), kinda checking out what's going on, maybe helping out like handing you a bag of coins… haha

* Behind the monitor on the left is a copy of the new Bitcoin Pie contest artwork, which is part of an idea I had that I'll write more about below.

* Behind our Bitcollector is the Times front page, another screen showing BTC value and Bitcoin miner painting on the far top right.

* Collector in the front has some new details as well, holograms and stuff and the Physical coin encyclopedia book in the bottom left.

I feel like this is enough material for starters. Like I mentioned earlier, I have a new idea that I'd like to share that feels pretty exciting.

What if I, with your help, started an ongoing concept of artworks connected between themselves, similar to events in the Blockchain?

Let me explain with an example.

I produce a canvas from the sketch above. I add two types of referential markers in it. First are hints in the form of previous artworks (like in above case The Bitcoin Miner and The Bitcoin Pie Baking Contest). The second is (maybe) a code made from timestamp and participants and something else that would make it trackable? Like the "head" of each block in the Blockchain.

Then the next artwork would include the previous artwork in the form of a hint (maybe its thumbnail) + its code would somehow be added. These codes would preferably be visual somehow, but could also be done with symbols or letters and numbers, depends what we come up with. Now I'm pretty sure some of you are, or know some other, proper nerds that have the best ideas for this!  Cool

Another thing I'd add is participants of this concept group/project!
This can't be done without all of us collaborating and I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for aour mutual help and benefit in the past! So I'd want to integrate that by adding those members, most active or supportive in any way in the artworks. How exactly is up for debate, maybe including avatars (that could be transformed into symbols for easier reference-control later).

Then the artwork/s would be raffled, sold, somehow distributed to the right new owner/s. The Satoshis are distributed among the workforce that in the beginning might be mostly me, but hopefully some of you will integrate and help with some systems, maybe also printmaking, NFT's handling, who knows…) How exactly we'll do all that is again still debatable, but I'm certain this shouldn't be a problem to hack around here!

I have a feeling this could go very far and wide and get very exciting.

So, to wrap this up, I propose I begin work on a prototype canvas of Bitcollectors in the next couple of weeks. As I work on it and update you, we'll have enough time to figure out answers to above questions.

I'm super curious what you'll think about my propositions so please comment and be very direct if you're not ok with something. I want this to be a communal thing, to grow and connect and become some sort of an (Block)Artchain haha.

Cheers!

Stylistically, I think this latest version has a bit too much going on in terms of the contrast of the accuracy of the newspaper on the wall with the more watercolor-like collector. As such I think the Pie picture is better put together. I would try to remove the extra detail, instead keeping it vague as a 'mere suggestion' of the subject. Also, I would of course love to see a "coin book" in there, which I'm guessing is on the bottom left here!

Hey, thanks for your comment. It reminded me to emphasize that this is still a sketch and the detail and render level might be a bit scattered.

The final piece (on canvas) will have a uniform style much like the mentioned Pie artwork, so no worries!  Cool

I'm truly amazed by how much your art is evolving, it's fantastic to witness. Your approach of creating a connection with each artwork is simply brilliant, and it resonates with me on a personal level. In fact, I'm working on something similar myself, like my earth elements series. Only those who own all four elements will receive the fifth element, creating a meaningful connection between the pieces. It's like the beginning of a journey, once you have all four, a new chapter unfolds.

I'm a big fan of your artistry, keep sharing and creating, my friend. You're truly remarkable!  Wink

Weekly update #2

I unified the painterly style of the sketch and worked a bit on certain details.

More importantly, I worked on "coding" the Signature of the artwork.

I used a square as base, as its most practical in being positioned in most circumstances.

This is how the code is constructed from top to bottom in this demo:

BTC-TLK 001/1 (Bitcoin Talk, project 001 (this will be the first official artwork in this concept-series) and /1 meaning it is the single one or first of the series. Maybe a 1/1 (or 3/3, 19/19) would be clearer.)

1Dq Eld kro... (First three characters of members of the current artwork project. Everyone from Bitcollectors is listed in this one, in the future maybe merit or some other type of work proof would be needed)

Two thumbnail images in bottom left (Previous two artworks in the concept. For first one, I used the Pie artwork and BTCtalk's 10th Anniversary artwork)

Date of project/s beginning and end. (For this one it's pretty epic in its span of 4 and a half years)

Thumbnail version of current artwork in bottom right (used for reference in the next artwork)

I inserted the code in the center of our concept sketch, as I feel if this is the beginning of something grandous, let's make it obvious.

Talking about obvious, the position of the main BTC symbol still eludes me! There are two symbol right now - top right on the Bitcoin Miner painting, and the on on Satoshi character, but I'm certain it should be more prominent, right?

There. I'm probably starting painting on the canvas in the following days, but let's keep this debate going.

I'm especially interested in how you think the coding could be upgraded.

There is also the possibility to develop it artwork by artwork, but a good beginning feels important!

Later.

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

Thoughts take shape and form  Cool

IMO is the front section as good as finished.. the other half of the room now looks much smaller or compressed. . I don't know which is better

My personal opinion is: the first version with the guy in the background and the room looks bigger..

a direct comparison of details

If you manage to place the details on the left and right, the room would appear much larger and the production in the background would become visible..

Something that should definitely be changed is the depiction of Satoshi, who stands in the picture like a tree trunk... hmmm

The rest looks realy good and making a series only makes this project more interesting.. great to see you create something that many people have contributed

I see what you mean SN347!

I agree with your conclusion that the back of the "room" is now condensed to less space than before. I kinda intended for that to happen to a degree, but it must have been too much.

I think I'll go for some middle way on the canvas. Thanks for your comment.

As for Satoshi, I didn't want him doing anything particular there, just being there mostly.

Maybe he should be analyzing data from one of the monitors? I mean, what would HE be doing really haha.

I think this idea of Satoshi analyzing date / writing code on one of the monitors makes sense, and adds a dimension to the coin collector being a sort of archeologist, looking at the "physical artefacts" brought about by Satoshi's actions, and thus in a way reconnecting with/recalling the history of 'the creation of bitcoin' by looking at the coins that commemorate it.
As the light shines to reveal the coins, they allow the collector's mind to reveal the past. But in a roundabout way, maybe if Satoshi were peeking over his shoulder from the monitor, at the collector, satoshi would similarly be imagining a future where people are making coins to commemorate him, giving the work a sort of psycho-historical infinity loop. I would consider using the light in this way, firstly between collector and coins, and secondly between satoshi and monitor, creating a deep interplay also with physical and digital.

This double light - past and future - is a great idea and just in time as I'm starting this canvas.
I'll incorporate it by giving Satoshi a job on the monitor and maybe peeking on Bitcollector's work.

I love it how this is developing and can't wait to paint this!

Cheers!

I think this is an amazing project. I see so much bitcoin art that represents every facet of BTC other than physical. Which i consider to be one if not thee most important under appreciated Avenue of BTC. I think that eventually physical bitcoin will capture the world by storm and you will be the artist who represented it first. When im not working my fiat job i spent my extra time focused on physical bitcoin. Its nice to see my hobby represented.I would definitely be interested in an original piece but based on the quality I assume im in the market for a limited edition print. Thank you for your time and effort

Today I'm back with two exciting news.

First is, I joined this forum exactly 6 years ago!

I made my introductionary thread in Collectibles soon after and have been active here ever since.
In these 6 years I created art for you, I came to know a lot of you personally and always felt very welcome and at home.
And that's why I'm celebrating this day with my second news!

Below are first stages of our first Bitcointalk Collectibles Artwork Project artwork, »Bitcollector«, Acrylics on Canvas, 40x30cm 15,7˝x11,8˝.
As per usual, it's a bit of a different story painting on canvas, from digital artwork. So from first sessions on, things changed slightly, but so far nothing radical.

PHASE 1

Started with goldenish yellow. It'll serve as remainder and basis for everything glittering on the table.
And sets the tone for this artwork, project and Bitcoin in general – gold.
Basic composition is set in line.

PHASE 2

Shapes make their intro as well as the blueish tones all around engulfing the golden yellow.
Here I made the first change, tilting the table a bit, so it's more dynamic and we also got more space that way.
The wall in the back is also at a steeper angle now so there's more room in the back.
On the right paintings, on left monitors.

PHASE 3

I start painting in basic details, so I get the feel of how objects live in the composition.
More importantly, Satoshi makes his visit, busy facing the monitor but glancing toward the seated Bitcollector.
Also, on the bottom left is a empty square (next to the glass satoshi statue) that'll be filled with our Signature Code.
Everything is done a step further and this is how far we are at the moment.

I intend on steadily continuing work by myself but eagerly awaiting your input – comments, critique suggestions of all sorts.
Just remember, this the initial piece and more will follow.

Cheers!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

Time for a new update!

I got our painting to a new stage:

STAGE 4

I painted in most of discussed and suggested objects.
Satoshi and Bitcollector are further defined.
There are knifes, holograms, cards, all kinds of papers, coins, tools and stuff on the table.
I changed the back of the room with minting coins to a image on a big screen.
Overall the entire composition is now better defined tonally and color-wise.

I also defined some fun open areas for us to explore together as I've marked below.

* First off, I think the screen on the back could sport a huge BTC sign, as the painting is still defined by our world and probably should be discernable as such on first glance.

* The screens have a lot of undefined space. I can definitely go for BTC charts, but would love some spicy suggestions, especially for what Satoshi is working on.

* Likewise, the BTCtalk screen is open for discussion - what board or thread would be open? If nothing else I could paint in this thread, so we're self referential  Cool

* On the table, Casascius coins and which other collectibles? I'd love to put in project Icarus and I'll ask Cygan which set he'd like to have presented on the painting.

* The Bitcollector is a bit too old now, so I'd make him a bit younger. Any ideas for clothes?

+ any other ideas!

Alright, as before I'll try to work out as many things I can myself and continue work.

But It'll be super helpful getting your input in these final stages of our first collective artwork.

Cheers!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

Love the way this is coming around...reminds me of my man cave!

How about placing a bitcoin node on the table...I have that....the domed figurine just like what you placed...a bitcoin ticker......and would recommend placing the collectables section open...not sure if it should be one thread...but if it is...I wouldnt know what would be the best one!

Also place the latest coldcard Q wallet on the table as well....just like what I added recently  Wink

Good specific suggestions, just the way I like them, thank you sir!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

* On the table, Casascius coins and which other collectibles? I'd love to put in project Icarus and I'll ask Cygan which set he'd like to have presented on the painting.

you don't need to write to me about it Wink
i have read it, we are proud of it and we would be very happy to see our project on your painting/artwork Smiley

Alright, will paint it in asap and it will be part of my next update!

Meanwhile there's still these open areas to brainstorm:

* First off, I think the screen on the back could sport a huge BTC sign, as the painting is still defined by our world and probably should be discernable as such on first glance.

* The screens have a lot of undefined space. I can definitely go for BTC charts, but would love some spicy suggestions, especially for what Satoshi is working on.

* Likewise, the BTCtalk screen is open for discussion - what board or thread would be open? If nothing else I could paint in this thread, so we're self referential

* On the table, Casascius coins and which other collectibles? I'd love to put in project Icarus and I'll ask Cygan which set he'd like to have presented on the painting.

* The Bitcollector is a bit too old now, so I'd make him a bit younger. Any ideas for clothes?

Later.

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

STAGE 5

This is probably the last step before I go and finalize the painting.
So far, I was deliberately holding back my brush a bit, so anything could potentially still be discussed and changed.

At this point, I can say I'm pretty happy with how it's developing and can't wait to go into it's final step!

I also added tags to most objects that we want identifiable in the artwork (in the version below).

So for probably the last time on this piece - let me know what you think or if I'd forgotten something.

Any comment, critique and idea can still be applicable!

Cheers!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.
