STAGE 6

About half of the finishing part is done.

I added a lot more detail, it was especially fun painting in my own artworks like the Bitcoin Miner on top right!

Besides rendering work, there's still a couple of question open:

Ob the Bitcoin ticker on top, which number should be showing? Maybe the all time high, or the actual number as I finish the piece?

Maybe the most fun is which part of our forum the monitor would show?

I was thinking of again using real gold to paint a couple of details, like the coin in Bitcollector's hand, what do you think?

And if the shirt can become a statement as well, and ideas?

And here's one shot of my brush doing the heavy lifting  Grin

I expect to have this canvas finished in a week or two, so your comments here will be much appreciated.

Then the fun part of making this item a collectible will begin. We still need to settle on how and when.

But right now, let's finish this canvas, the first of its kind!

Cheers!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

Absolutely, this essentially is the focal point of the piece.

maybe just the BTC symbol as a pattern?

Yes gold leaf paint would be the way to go just as you did with my painting!

And if the shirt can become a statement as well, and ideas?

Hmm….A bitcoin shirt would be good as well…the question is what type?

Thanks for the comments!

Almost a consensus here, perfect.

I'd rather go with general "Collectibles" on the monitor, than only this thread, because that's Bitcollector's lair.  Cool

And for the shirt I'll go for a BTC motif and see where my brush spontaneously takes me!

I'll have a two day break now and that's more space for your input.

Later!

STAGE 7

Dear Art Project Collaborators, we're nearly there.

I believe I painted in everything except three details awaiting the final session:

* BTC ticker current value
* project code on bottom left (still open for optimization suggestions)
* artist's signature.

No explaining novels from me today, just a couple of fun shots Grin

Here's Satoshi peeking

..and a photo from our Bitcollector's angle

And two closeups of the newly gilded centerpiece coin.

Last call for any suggestions. I any case, I'll have this finished and properly photographed in a couple of days.

Have a great day everyone!

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

i would perhaps draw the block time in the ticker at which your artwork is completely finished

and finally i can recognize the Icarus cards Grin

Thanks guys!

Cygan, the Icarus cards were one of the last things I worked on today.

Krog, for code I meant this signature that will anchor the artwork in a unique system, similar to blockchain as explained here:

Weekly update #2

More importantly, I worked on "coding" the Signature of the artwork.

I used a square as base, as its most practical in being positioned in most circumstances.

This is how the code is constructed from top to bottom in this demo:

BTC-TLK 001/1 (Bitcoin Talk, project 001 (this will be the first official artwork in this concept-series) and /1 meaning it is the single one or first of the series. Maybe a 1/1 (or 3/3, 19/19) would be clearer.)

1Dq Eld kro... (First three characters of members of the current artwork project. Everyone from Bitcollectors is listed in this one, in the future maybe merit or some other type of work proof would be needed)

Two thumbnail images in bottom left (Previous two artworks in the concept. For first one, I used the Pie artwork and BTCtalk's 10th Anniversary artwork)

Date of project/s beginning and end. (For this one it's pretty epic in its span of 4 and a half years)

Thumbnail version of current artwork in bottom right (used for reference in the next artwork)

I inserted the code in the center of our concept sketch, as I feel if this is the beginning of something grandous, let's make it obvious.

I'm especially interested in how you think the coding could be upgraded.

I love Painting and I love Bitcoin.

Hello Everybody!

OUR FIRST COLLECTIVE ARTWORK IS
FINISHED!

I'm super proud to present to you

»Bitcollector«, 2024, Acrylics and Golden Leafs on Canvas, 40x30cm 15,7˝x11,8˝

This painting is our tribute to everything about BTC Collectibles and Collectors and among other familiar details you can find:

Casascius coins
Coldcard wallet
Icarus cards
1Dq original paintings
The Times article
Satoshi statue
Bitcoin ticker
Bitcoin node
Encyclopedia of Physical Bitcoins
...and a couple of Easter eggs

This is all thanks Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto, the igniter of it all. That's why he is also part of the painting and I believe our member elianite told it best:

I think this idea of Satoshi analyzing date / writing code on one of the monitors makes sense, and adds a dimension to the coin collector being a sort of archeologist, looking at the "physical artefacts" brought about by Satoshi's actions, and thus in a way reconnecting with/recalling the history of 'the creation of bitcoin' by looking at the coins that commemorate it.
As the light shines to reveal the coins, they allow the collector's mind to reveal the past. But in a roundabout way, maybe if Satoshi were peeking over his shoulder from the monitor, at the collector, satoshi would similarly be imagining a future where people are making coins to commemorate him, giving the work a sort of psycho-historical infinity loop. I would consider using the light in this way, firstly between collector and coins, and secondly between satoshi and monitor, creating a deep interplay also with physical and digital.

This artwork is also the first to have a unique CODE, that anchors it in time and space.

The CODE consists of (from top to bottom):
Serial number
First three letters of project collaborators
BTCblock it was finished in with date of execution
Bottom left has an icon of my previous artwork (Pie contest) and on right is this artwork in Icon form.

So this art piece is the first "block" in out own art blockchain!
The more successful we are, and the more collectible artworks we sell, the more valuable this and following pieces will be.

Here are some more photos of details:

And the canvas in two different outdoor settings

All in all I'm super happy with the result and I hope you are too  Grin

Now for the next step:

SELLING OF BITCOLLECTOR AND PRINTS

There are several ways we can do this as was discussed in posts above.

In any case I will start a new thread, presenting the artwork to new guests and potential buyers.
I didn't imagine framing the canvas for auction/selling, but it might be a interesting bit. As it's relatively small, the shipping costs won't be that much higher (For most of the world I expect it to be under 50€/$).
What do you think, should I frame or no?

I also plan on preparing a printable reproduction, probably via a professional scan, as the photos, although great, still aren't best suited for such a job.

For artist's fee, I propose that my work be calculated in hours spent working on the actual drawing and painting. All project management, post making, photographing and other stuff is free as a token of my pleasure of doing this with the community!
Therefore I'll make a calculation of the minimum I'd like to earn for my effort at this point. In case this project gets successful and I earn more, I'll be extra satisfied and it'll help me moving forward doing this!
I'll put my hourly price at a symbolic 10€/hour. I had around 20 hours of work on digital concepts and further 40 hours on the canvas. So in total I'd estimate my work on this artwork so far to be worth a minimum of 600€.
Transparent project, transparent finances!  Cool

As for the actual selling moment, we could either make an auction or a raffle for both the original painting and the prints.
We need to see what the interest is for both so I can create an auction with properly-defined prices.
Maybe as a raffle for a set number of prints (21?) with entrance ticket sum set somewhere around 50€.
Then maybe one participant picked randomly gets also the original artwork? Discount for participants of the project!
That could be fun, what do you think?

Is anyone interested in working on a NFT version? I can provide the reproduction and that could also be part of this project.
I'm not that interested in NFT's in general so I'd prefer if somebody else took care of that.

MOVING FORWARD WITH OUR PROJECT

Of course, first we need to see how well Bitcollector is received.
Then I'd probably be interested in repeating and upgrading the project, either digitally for future prints or a new canvas if there is demand.
We could of course try to go a step further and develop the content.

And then there's other concepts I'm interesting in exploring with you!
One I was recently thinking about is redoing the 10th anniversary artwork I did

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5205089.0

What if I made an upgraded canvas (or digital) version of it and make it available as a print?
There were A LOT of inquiries about prints for this one in the past, but I didn't have proper printing opportunities then.
I can imagine someone might take on the challenge of distributing them (especially in the US) for us?

This could be very interesting for members of the entire forum.
Which is something I was hoping to address as well – how to get the entire BTCtalk a chance in contributing?
Maybe Theymos and other admins can help out with a news bulletin or I open some other thread some place to invite people here?

But first things first – let's wrap this up by getting it on your wall!

Please let me know what you think on above questions.

Cheers!
