E.g. 1 bar is build of 100, 1000 etc ticks. I've tried Tiger.Trade, ATAS and Quantower: all of them have this same shameful problem. Tick bars (range, renko and so on) are calculated stricktly within a day, so when the day ends and the new one begins, calculation of a non-time bar interrupts, cropped bar is drawn and a new bar appears. So the final chart is full of such cropped bars, it is a random mess of correct and incorrect non-time bars. Do you know any platform, which does it the right way? It should proceed bar calculation no matter what time it will take untill the bar building condition occur.

This should be some very old bug in the non-time charts building algorythm, which has migrated into different platforms.

Honestly, my first time knowing about non-time charts

How about Tradingview. Have you tried to check out their so many publically available scripts like this one - https://www.tradingview.com/script/ygNO2G1V-Tick-Chart/ (tick chart)? Does it have a similar "bug" you described?

There is a huge problem with TV, which makes it almost useless for this purpose: it does not operate ticks as it should do. So it is just worthless if you try to build precise charts from ticks. Least frame they basicaly use is 1 second, while range bars are even built from 1 minute chart. Their custom tick indicators only work with those ticks which you where able to collect while TV was running. 1 hour of work and you have just 1 hour tick data and not a tick more. Connection lost and you have a gap in data, you close the program and all that data is gone, you do not have an access to a native tick history. The only way there is to collect tick data for your own, but this a very seriuos technical problem for a single trader, which includes a nice server with 99.99% uptime and masterpiece in writing code or hiring programmers.

I was googling, have found an Exocharts software, never heard of it before. Just same f problem. Is there a conspiracy for not to make proper non-time based charts?

Have to say, that's my first time hearing about tick based charts and I thought I'd seem all of them.

Only non time based I know and tried to use before was volume based (during my forex days). Even then, I never used it seriously except on particular no news days. TV had a script for it but this tick-based new to me.

Very interesting problem and I might try to look around myself, hope some forum trading guy can answer in the meanwhile.

Volume bars have just the same problem within that software that I've mentioned, their calculation is limited to the end of a day. This is a common problem in the algorythm of generating non-time based bars, no matter what basis is used for them: ticks, pips, volume.

TV is as popular as lame, just take a look at their range bars chart, it is full of false gaps because they use 1 minute data to build ranges. Not ticks, not even seconds, but minutes! This is such a shame.

Hey OP, I've just talked to someone I really like. He makes trading education series like as in purely all about trading, not about making money or signals or anything like that, and trades of course.

He uses Exo and he says he doesn't see the problem you have. He thinks that maybe, your issue is you don't set a long enough timeframe.

Exocharts, you said you've tried it? Just choose settings, set to ticks, and set to 180+ days, that should solve the issue. I saw some screenshots from him, and it looked fine to me.

I've already deleted Exo, now had to install it back to show the problem. It seems that educational dude didn't even understand the problem I've described. Take a look at screenshot, do you see those strong drops on the volyme hystogram? Why do you think they match violet lines? Those lines are daily delimiters, and those gaps appear because last bar calculation on tick chart is interrupted at every end of the day and starts from a new starting point. So this is not a continuous process, as it should be, it has a sctrict time frame to calculate - 1 day. Algorythm does not care that bar calculation condition (in ticks or range) is not achieved, so some bars are fine and those at the end of the day are not. The result is a mess of correct and incorrect bars.

Tick chart
https://clip2net.com/clip/m0/5379f-clip-284kb.png
Range chart, does is look like all bars have fixed size, as they should according to range chart definition? It surely doesn't.
https://clip2net.com/clip/m0/3df35-clip-243kb.png

And this is not only exocharts problem, every software I was able to try has it: tiger, atas, quantower, multicharts, exo, volfix and something else, which I can not remind for now. All of them have this bug and do not give a damn on it for years. But why don't their users ask questions? This is so weird.

Thanks for those screenshots, yeah I think even I don't really understand but tomorrow I'll go check with him again.

It's bugging me that it's bugging you, and you bet he's also bugged he doesn't see it but this should help a lot.

It doesn't make sense to me like you said this issue that is old and no one fixed, so maybe, maybe there is a gap of me understanding here.

Check back in a few days Smiley

I know for sure that it works the wrong way, because there is a software which does it another way, they right way, and the result is continuous chart with a fixed range, if we talk about ranges. This software, however, was not made for crypto, it was made for retail forex, so you can not just take and use it, it needs some fixes and connectors to work with crypto exchanges data, and this is a problem. TV constructs ranges the right way too, but their ranges made from M1 chart are very poor - they have to be made from ticks or at least seconds.

And yes, I have no idea why a bunch of independent software developers can not fix this problem for a long time, this is strange. Guess they have more important tasks on some modern and fancy analysis stuff.

Sorry it took a while to respond, but anyway, my trader friend says he's still not really sure why your issue is problematic. The session resets, he thinks, could be coincidental, an issue with bots/algo close resets.

You probably answered yourself Wink

But here is one solution he suggests which is to go on Discord for Exo charts server, and tag Veran + luckshury in Bug Report channel. Veran is the creator and developer of Exo Smiley So if he doesn't know how to do it no one will.

Range bars chart is (should be) something like fence built from boards of a strictly fixed height. What do they build instead? A fence made from boards of a random height. It is definetily a problem when you do not want this, when you need a flat smooth fence, but not this crooked s..t.

I've already tried to talk with some developers. They say like yeah, this may be a slight problem, we'll surely solve it, but not today - someday, thank you and blabla. For now it looks more real to hire a coder and solve it on my own. Anyway, thanks for you tip.

Hehe, ya true, that's the problem with these software, if it's not critical bug or not very popular it's going to be low on priority, but I'm happy at least you got to speak to the dev, and maybe who knows they fix it and credit you in the next update right?

If you solve it yourself you can even contribute to the next build Wink

Good luck with your trading and charting fren!!
