We have heard the story of everyone and I think instead of dividing or thinking  of separation we should think of restructuring. Let's restructure Nigeria to 3 independent state. Let every state be independent under one umbrella. This might be the best way to go in Nigeria, we hope to see the new Nigeria some day. Different people, one nation. Restructuring will help boost the countries economy as each state will work on improving their state and that will definitely set up competition among them that will trigger standard living and improve governance.

Confederation is good, e be like na the thing wey you dey try talk but how viable e dey for this country now be the thing. Na how many states go gree come together again to form the three big states wey you dey talk about. The middle belt go everly want to stay their own and moreover inside the middle belt some go still want dey away. So my brother, e choke.

Again, as e be say dem don carry pipe line take cross all the regions, na how dem go still do that part? Some region don dey dependent on oil even though they don't produce it, the matter plenty to discuss for Nigeria to stay as a confederation.

Because of greed the top politicians in government will not accept restructuring because it will deprive them from stealing but the truth is that this is the only way to make the country better. Nigeria is too big for the federal government to be in charge of every state.  If state can have power over their resources and security their will be a better transformation for the country,  this is the same system most developed nations are applying,  but our leaders are not ready for transformation.

Nigeria is has gone beyond that level, and that was done in1960 after independence. Nigeria was divided into three regions, which are the West, East and North. It was from there that in 1963, it was divided into four, and so on till finally we are now have 36 states. Then the population of Nigeria was not as much as we are today, and they were able to manage the natural resources that the country has, and the economy was good.

It will be impossible for us to have only three again because who will go back into the olden days pattern of live when he has been civilized. The country is bigger than one man to control especially an old sick man, that cannot think well. The problem of Nigeria is bigger than a vibrant young man of 45yrs old to handle, talk more of an old aged man. Nigeria will remain sick, until they stop imposing old and sick candidates as our president.

For me the easy way to do that is by Dividing the country into 3 earthnic group being Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Let each earthnic group becomes a country of its own just like Nnadi kalu is proposing that Nigeria can not be one except they seperate. It might be like he doesn't know what he is saying to some people, but I see reasons to what that man has been saying. I know that it wount stop corruption but it will take a long time before crisis will arise in the nation. I know many people will say that is it not same bad politicians that will still rule If they divide the country? But it believe each earthnic group as a new country will try to protect their dignity when they divide the country in other not for people to see reasons to why they divide and new goals will be set and a better governance will be put in place.

Again, as e be say dem don carry pipe line take cross all the regions, na how dem go still do that part? Some region don dey dependent on oil even though they don't produce it, the matter plenty to discuss for Nigeria to stay as a confederation.
All those popline that has passed across the new divided country, for me those popline that cross each of the new country will be use as means of survival to country that don't have oil. Those that has the oil will have no option than to pay a tuition or annual fee or monthly, depending on how they agreed on. because that will only be there source of lively hood since they can not produce oil, and the country is also divided. So "the left hand will wash the right while the right will wash the left".

The  formation of the Nigerian state ( country) was crafted by the British colonial authorities under the supervision of the Western imperialists. There had never been an indigenous state crafted by the Nigerian elites, except the various constitutions. It was later translated into a Neocolonial state that is structured to promote and protect the interests of the Western imperialists.
Thus, the concept Restructuring is deeper than what some persons would think. A new trajectory has to be constructed by indigenous elites of the nation. Therefore, three major steps have to be taken into cognisance and seriousness. These are imperative.
Firstly, a Sovereign National Conference ( SNC)  has to be convened where the national questions would be properly handled, discussed and resolved amicably. This attempt is intended to demolish the Neocolonial trajectory in bid to reconstructing an indigenous and truly independent state.
Secondly, sequel to the first argument, the next step should be on the resurrecting the comatose economy to make it autocentric. An economy that have the capacity to provide the basic needs of the people at best.
Thirdly, the exclusive legislative list of the Centre (Federal Govt) should be decongested and the Residual legislative list of the constituent units ( state Govts) should be increased to enable them compete among themselves to enhance relative development.

I don't crave for separation but if the speration would do is all good then we don't need to deny it, why holding a clan that doesn't want to stay with you on a captive?
Don't you think letting those that want to be on their own would reduce populations which can be minimally manageable in the country? That would also set up competitions to facilitate on advanced developments with the priorities of considering humans welfares.

On a serious note OP, restructuring is not the keen and the bone of contentions here, after restructuring with a high productive esteem and we still have our leaders with their dirty and conscienceless minds of taking advantages and the embezzling of the public funds, the structures would be meaningless.
So, if we want a way forward in the country, let's look up to the governance system of the governments.
So, I am to say our governments are the keen stone holding the faith of our way forward before we could consider restructuring.

You can believe me that if our government happen to handle the Americans governments with its recommendable and commendable system of governance and advanced developments, surely the Nigerian governments in replacement would jeopardize and crash the system in no time.
The most problem we encounters in this country is the corruptible manners in our governments.

We have heard the story of everyone and I think instead of dividing or thinking  of separation we should think of restructuring.

Either by the way of restructuring or by separation, something must be done and we cannot continue in watching the way things are being done at the expense of the masses, but we should never forget that we have our induvial right on the expression of interest to what we see or want, but are we not afraid to voice out and are we not part of the restructuring that we are talking about that needs to change for good.

Let's restructure Nigeria to 3 independent state. Let every state be independent under one umbrella. This might be the best way to go in Nigeria, we hope to see the new Nigeria some day.

I hope you know that this cannot be done by just mouth, we need much enforcement to help make this come a reality and at the cause, many will go by it because you cant take freedom without the application of force and if you're using force, expect people to die along the cause, but will that be the end or solution to all human kind challenges in life and the country be at peace more than ever before or the people may just suffer at the end without having any achievement regarding this.

In as much i am never in support for division the quest of Nigeria pivoting as a leading country has failed, the economical and political trajectory has nosedive. strategic initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable growth or development  or good governance has failed due to incompetent leaders at the top of it affairs.

Corruption itself is a serious issue that has eating deep into nigerians blood due to the system of government we operate. The vision of the country to be a the giant of Africa has failed with its many challenges.

The strive for Confederation system of government brought about the civil war, The British purposely didn't want that to happen because they knew very well that they could easily loose their stakes in the country, and they instigated it, they know very well that it was the solution to effective government in Nigeria. The country's dependence on oil is excessive and other great mineral resources are either abandoned, or exploited underground by these colonial masters till date and these go unnoticed.

I'm one of the advocates of the oil reserves in Nigeria being used up, I dey pray for the oil to finish kpatakpata. na then our eyes go open to the kind of slavery we dey as Nigerians. The day the oil go finish, most people go wake up to the abundance of resources this country has and make room for diversification of concerns. That time ghost workers no go dey again as the blood money don cease, Each parastatal will take full responsibility of its productivity. I've been researching recently on the plenty natural resources wey the country get, yet they say the country dey poor. make una just shook eye for this collection and their locations here.

These ones above na less, E get one mineral resource for Nigeria wey dey hidden from the media, the name na Carlifornium, its found in Borno state and each gram of it is worth $27 million and it is mined till date. Just do your research and see the level of exploitation that we are under as a country.

Confederation system is surely the best because it will give the regions the full power to exploit their abundances, harness it well and give returns to the central. Federation had kept a lot of things in bondage and for personal interests of the federal power.

It's no news that the current system of government in Nigeria is not working, but, unfortunately, the government in power doesn't care about it since they want absolute power. Their absolute power is rather killing the nation the more, which is why people are clamouring for restructuring among others.

However, for me, restructuring is just the first option, at least, an option that will help us bring competition and seriousness among regions provided the regional government kind of restructuring is the one that is voted for. The ways of restructuring are many, there could be a mere parliamentary system of government, the one where it is the state that would control its resources, the one where regions would have their autonomy and many more. Secession is another viable option that we should not take for granted. Take a look at Nigeria, do you see any seriousness in the formation? The formation is even causing issues. But when it is disintegrated into small units where people understand themselves better and are closer to themselves with the drive that they do not want the close neighbour to be better than them, then we will be reaching somewhere better.

If you read history, they should have left it to Southern and Northern Nigeria, it would have been better managed that way. According to history, Nigeria was a deceit, a country set up by foreigners for their selfish goals and resources management. They just forced it upon us and left it due to independence without disintegrating back as they met it. That's part of our issues. The so-called amalgamation of 1914 where they believe that one region's resources can be used to better another region is a cheat. Is it applicable in their small rich countries to bring the poor states so that they do not suffer or clear deficits? Needless to say, the agreement of the union is just 100 years to decide if they would continue or not. Is 100 years after 1914 not passed?

I prefer the restructuring, but the way people are now getting angrier and calling for secession, it is not out of the option if it gets uglier than this.
