If you want to run a bitcoin full node, you should read this article from bitcoin.org which are the minimum requirements to run a node https://bitcoin.org/en/full-node#what-is-a-full-node

Then you will need to check if your computer will be able to run bitcoin full node.

Having a Bitcoin node doesn't make you profit the only benefit of having a full node is privacy unless you are planning to run a lightning node you can earn in lightning but it's not worth it.

About your system specs yes you can run a full node with your laptop except if you have limited hard disk space.

But you need 1TB of free space and at least 4GB of RAM to run full node without any issues.

The cost is your electricity and the data you used, you won't get any profit for doing that.

1. All i7 processor (even old ones) have at least 2 cores, which should be enough to run full node.
2. You need at least almost 600GB free storage space, unless you don't run pruned mode (which store only recently mined blocks).
3. I agree with other member that your laptop should have at least 4GB, although having more would be better.
4. The cost mainly depends on your laptop's electircity usage. If your internet package have limited data usage, running full node might make you pay more for internet due to over usage.
5. There is no financial profit by running Bitcoin full node.

I am sure you can run your Bitcoin Node on any PC with 1 TB of storage. About profits, the chances are very low that you will make profit from running your own node with this specification. ASIC Miners are being used by the miners if you want to properly invest and earn from Bitcoin Mining, running a single node won't be profitable at all even in the long run. So, If you were going to do it for profit, you should just stop right here.

Yes, there is no reason why it can't as that seems to imply you're running with at least 4GB of ram. Although if you ask me it sounds like it's closer to 8GB.

You can also run in pruned mode to avoid needing to have a large enough disk, since there is a chance that you could be running with a 512GB or even a 256GB hard disk. It is common with older systems, and newer systems with SSDs.

If OP's laptop lacks of free space he can use the external drive ( preferably SSD-type) to store the copy of blockchain.

In this case bitcoin.conf file should have an entry which specifies the directory with relevant data : datadir=<Path to folder on external drive  where Bitcoin Core stores blockchain data>

P.S. I always prefer to the blockchain copy on external drive as such approach facilitates the change of device on which node is  running.

Its important that you first consider the space needed to download the blockchain which will contain of about 500gb space from the storage of your laptop, i think the system specification for corei7 Intel Hp laptop should have nothing lesser than 1tb if am not mistaking, which i think you shouldn't have an issue on that, then you may have to follow up with other recommended links on learning how to run a bitcoin full node.

The cost is the technical knowledge required in running it and the profit you stand to gain is higher security and privacy.

As per the minimum requirement for running a node, I believe your spec will get the job done perfectly, but it depends on where you are from, the situations of things like electricity matters.

I don't run Bitcoin node but I do run node for other projects, and because of the electricity bill here I needed something that doesn't take much energy from the wall, then I found powerful cups that takes nothing more than 30 watts from the wall.

The minisforum Pcs are very good for this type of things, because they are small PC that can fit into your pocket and they also have component that takes very small power to run, small but powerful.

Mine came with Ryzen 7 7840U with TDP of 25W and the max of 30W, and if GPU is needed it has a mobile 780M graphics, I run nodes non-stop, easy.

It all depends what generation of Intel i7 processor you have, it's not the same if you use i7 from 2008 or from today, and you also need to have enough RAM memory.
You won't have any profit running bitcoin node, so forget about that, but you won't have to depend on third party nodes for your transactions.

Definitely am stoping right here. Now I understand what it really means to run a node. If running a node makes one not to depend on theirs party , it seems to be really good but it's resources consuming.

It is not very consuming to be honest and it does really worth what you pay as an electricity bill you are getting the benefits like being independent from third-party servers to validate your transaction details and you can hide your IP too by running via TOR.

But there are no financial benefits like miners while running a node.

Personally, from what Ive leant and know so far about running full bitcoin node, majorly any computer can run it, where there is always a challenge is in disk size, as well as the size of RAM as well, but majorly, it's the disk size, as the computer have to have much more than enough disk space the download the entire bitcoin blockchain.

And another area of challenge is in making sure one has a really fast and reliable internet services, because downloading the entire bitcoin blockchain is very long a process and will require a great deal of time, as well as data, and you also have to have to reliable power source because your computer will have to be on all through the download process.

And there is no profit for running the bitcoin full node, aside from the fact that you can confirm some of your own bitcoin transactions, you won't need miners to do that for you all the time again.
So, this is means that, it puts you in full and total control of your bitcoin.
