There is a psychology that says, there people who depends on your success to succeed in life.

This statement applies to gambling addiction, if one becomes addicted to gambling to the extent that he or she couldn't make a living, it's certain that at people whom if he was successful would have become successful too through him may not be successful any more psychologically but it can also be falsifiable.

Imagine that of you make it in life and open a company, and you have 1000 workers depending on the salary you pay them just, imagine that you failed to be successful because of gambling addiction you have indirectly caused a 1000 people to be jobless at some point and at the same time some of the can even become poor and broke forever because you failed go do right by yourself. its just a little truth.

My mentor used to say that a human soul starts to live the moment he depends on himself, don't let others be the driver of your future success he said, if you fail it's your failure, at least you believe in yourself, if you believe in other and the other failed, you don't become stronger, the other just did, because the other person is the one that made the wrong choice, you become nothing.
This is why some people run away from others when they noticed that they are into gambling, they run because they believe that gamblers always drag down everyone around them, they make stupid decisions that will affect everyone around them, so they run away from them to avoid all this.

I don't like my life decisions hanging on the neck of a fellow human being like me, this is why I don't like relying on a single decision, anything could make it not to work, so I plan other ways too, if one doesn't work another will, and relying on a gambler or someone who is into gambling is not a good idea, we are not even promised tomorrow.

If you live with a gambling addict and you have no way to move to other place, it's better to create an agreement letter that the family or people who live in your house didn't responsible with the gambling addict debts, so in case he's in debts, you don't need to worry.

With gambling addictions, a person will become addicted to gambling by watching gambling every day better to leave gambling companions and stop going anywhere related to gambling. Play is a fun thing but not all games are fun. such as gambling. Although gambling is played in the name of gambling it is essentially something different from playing. I have a similar problem with a family friend that I call a brother, he is addicted to gambling and I keep telling him to stop but he won't, I tried teaching him how to be a responsible gambler but he can't help it.

Now I warned him about dragging others into his mess, if he plans to be irresponsible about gambling he should face it like a man and go down alone without dragging others around him into the mess.

This is my own way of living, if I am to go down I go down alone, I take risks that I only can handle, in my own world no one cares about me but myself, and I apply this fact to my life, I learn to clean up my shit by myself.

Yeah it seems like this problem is already become a norm right now because anyone can gamble using a cellphone even it's the cheap one. It's really sad to see the hard workers in a family only live from paycheck to paycheck because the money is used to buy monthly needs and they can't save the money because the gambling addict will steal the money.

It seems quite clear that everything you have written represents all the bad effects of addiction because the most important thing is the family, relatives, people around you and the future of the addict.
If we talk about anyone who will be affected by the bad effects of this addiction, there will definitely be no end to it because it includes most of the people closest to them who will definitely experience this badness.

I've seen people who are addicted and I know him but not very closely and what he did was he indulged in his addiction to the point that he had to sell his house even though his wife had sold all the things she owned until her children couldn't go to school because her husband used the money for gambling and in the end his wife asked to separate and now the person is depressed because of his own addiction losing his home, wife and children.

In response to the op, it is commonly said that a tree does not make a forest, and there is a reason for that, and that reason is that, one tree is not strong enough, and can not give the type of shade a forest needs to be called or referred to as a forest.

What am I saying, families are like a forest and same way a tree does not make a forest, same way a person does not make a family, and as a family, what affect one should affect others, this is why it's called family.
In a family where one person is addicted to gambling, and the rest of the family members feel comfortable like nothing is happening, then it simply means that such family is not united as one, for if one person is having financial difficulties, it is the responsibility of the other family members to help that one out.

Yes, that is the worst stage in gambling when someone really can't keep their involvement well, none other than because the impact is as you said that it is very bad, there will be a lot of problems that occur when someone enters the addiction phase, they will lose everything they have, especially the valuables they have and for financial problems it is clear that they will have a concerning financial situation that sometimes they even have difficulty meeting needs such as food costs, and when someone who is married has financial problems due to gambling addiction then obviously the next problem will spread to family relationships which in the end there will be no harmonious words anymore and can even end up with separation.

Most responses in this thread focused on the indirect effect of gambling on close relations. But the society also suffers indirectly. Gambling addiction can lead to people engaging in criminal activities just to raise money to satisfy the uncontrollable desire to gamble. Some people have engaged in illegal activities like robbery, kidnappings,  scams, etc, just because they want to get money to finance gambling. It is the community that suffers these indirect consequences because the area will become insecure for the inhabitants.

The organization in which the gambler works also suffers from the gambling addiction of employees. Gamble addicts might not give their best on the job because they are more concerned about gambling. With a lack of commitment to work, the productivity of such staff will reduce leading to the loss of human resources. Addicts might even engage in sharp practices in their workplace because they want to feed their hunger for betting.

Totally agree with all what's written in the OP, but there is one basic rule about gambling that will prevent one from going to this length,and it's called " gambling with money you can afford to lose!"
The main reason this is said to everyone is to ensure you don't have any regrets that can spill over to broken relationships with family and friends, suicides, debt etc But then again, sometimes I think society can be to judgemental such that a person that needs help with their addiction will shy away from getting it because gambling is something that is sometimes frowned upon depending on where you come from.

Employers can also be indirect victims of the problems that a gambling addict brings. I remember a long time ago when I once qhad a gambling addict working for me who I felt I could control, and then I gave him money to go get materials for work for me but he ended up using up all the money for gambling, playing virtual games and squandering it all.

Employers and employees can both be victims of gambling addiction, gambling addicts aren't the best set of individuals to work for or to work with. They're annoying and also very lazy workers, they can be late to work or fail to finish a work on time as all they care about me is how they can finish what they're doing and go back to gambling. Gambling addicts only cares about gambling and they can use money meant for the company business to gamble and delay what the money was supposed to do.

Every individual that's associated with a gambling addict is a victim in one way or the other.    Infact there is more to it, some gamblers don't really care about their lose anytime they loss there money in games they stake, mostly some of them don't seems to know that they more they gamble the more they also get addicted to it.

You would really be losing it all if you cant be able to control up yourself on doing gambling or having that control or moderation because once you do get addicted,.then you arent just risking the bank account you do have and money with it but also in other posessions that you do have which might be ended up on getting loaned or being the ones who you would really be able to bet on. Plus sometimes the act can actually rub off the person who doesn't know anything about gambling but seems to be comfortable with the addict himself playing these games and that's why some people tend to labels these friends as gamblers themselves because I know one thing for and thats the fact that you can't be hanging out with a gambler everything and actually not get influence to get involved in the act yourself especially when the gambler always tell you about his winning and never release the loses that he faces.

Like with any addict you can't help him if he doesn't want that help. You can't move in with a n alcoholic to keep watch over him 24/7 and it's the same with your friend. You think you teach him how to be responsible, but he listens with one ear and lets it out with the other. He'll have to land at the bottom to learn his lesson.
