What you narrated was just a typical example of small mindedness and a person who hasn't been able to face the harsh realities of life. That's all there is to it. This person is on his way to making bad decisions and having a wrecked life.
If you're contented with where you are, there's no wah for you to improve or develop.
Comfort zones are the bane of development and progress.
That guy is going to get hurt.
My principle about life is to work hard and try in all conditions that I find myself to be stronger in my affairs, in my struggle, in my decision-making, and when you fail you should try as much as possible to fail forward. Having this singular mindset has helped me to manage all the downfalls that are attached to failure in life. Failing in life is constant just as it is for you to be successful. No matter how poor you are, no matter how dull you are in deliverables and accomplishments, you will have some recorded successes. And no matter how efficient you are and result-driven you are, you equally record failures.
Having to understand this basic aspect of life makes one to be more optimistic whenever you fail and to move out of your comfort zone because you know that all the battles, the roadblocks, the bottlenecks that you have ahead of you, you are likely to fail in the process. And when you fail, the best way to go about it is to fail forward, thereby ensuring that you leverage on whatever it takes, ensuring that you leverage all the opportunities you have to counteract the failure that you'll be encountering in your end of force.
So, the young man needs to expand his horizon and firstly accept failures, then to also look at how they can fail forward so that they can learn from their mistakes and be stronger in decision-making. Staying in one's comfort zone will only allow you to be bane and the only way you can counteract that poor mindset is by moving out of the comfort zone and that would be the antidote for the problem.
