S-starting mini private key sweep

I'm trying to sweep an S-starting 30-long character mini private key into Electrum. User guide/documentation says mini private keys are supported but the button stays gray. Any advice? I read something about converting it to a WIF address by using SHA256 but this seemed to be very complicated.

You do not need to convert the mini private key to another format. Just click on 'import bitcoin addresses or private keys keys' on Electrum and paste the private key. If it is valid, you will be able to click on next and successfully import it.

I have just tried both 22 and 30 character mini private keys and I was able to import both successfully on Electrum.

If you sweep using the the mini private key the button is grayed out it doesn't work.

You can try to import the mini private key as a new wallet check the image below.


Paste the mini key and the button should not be grayed out then next and then make sure to transfer it to your new wallet for safety purposes. I tried this with a mini private key from Cassasius coin and it works just fine. The sweep option does not work to me the button is greyed out.

I just tried to sweep a 30 character mini private key into electrum and the "sweep" button was clickable. You probably did something wrong.
OP can either sweep his/her mini private key into an existing wallet or create a new wallet with importing the mini private key.

Well, mine does not work. What Electrum version do you use? I'm currently using 4.5.2 I tried to sweep but it does not work that is why I tried to import my mini private key on restore option and it works just fine.

Edit: weird it is now working I think maybe I pasted something with an extra character which is why the button in sweeping is greyed out.

Thanks for the replies. This is a denarium coin, the text on the sticker is quite small but with a magnifying glass I got it right, the button is still gray. Electrum version is 4.5.3.

That is one expensive ticker...it has a tiny QR code on it, how do I use it? "Read QR code from screen", what does that mean? Thanks again.

Check the characters you type and maybe one or more characters you think is right might be different.
If it still does not work I have another solution to convert it into a WIF format in an easy way but you need to run your device in offline mode for safety purposes

Do you have an Android phone?
Here's what I think will work you can use Mycelium wallet and just scan the QR code and manually send BTC to your Electrum wallet or if you just want to convert the private key into Wif format do this guide below.

- Download a Mycelium wallet
- turn off your wifi.
- Open Mycelium and scan the QR code
- Once it is successfully imported to the Mycelium tap the account and tap 3 dots> export account keys.
- The warning will pop just tap yes
- From the public key slide it to the right
- There's a warning again tap and hold anywhere near the warning and it should show the private key in WIF format.
- Copy the private key and paste it to Electrum or type it manually.

Electrum allows you to scan QR codes if you go to Create New Wallet > Import keys or addresses. You will then notice a camera icon on the bottom right. Click on that to activate your camera and bring the QR code in position to try to scan it. That's how it is on the desktop version.

For Electrum mobile, it works in a similar fashion. Create a new wallet > add new addresses and keys, and you will see a QR code icon on the right.
The question now is, will it recognize the format of the key you have? Tried it and see.

Seems the method I provided above will not work. I have another option if you have a PC you can convert the mini private key into WIF using bitaddress.org but make sure to download the page and run it offline for safety and do not forget to transfer it right away to a new wallet.

Just edit this I hope we can see some update here with the @OP if this is Electrum in your iPhone you might be using a fake Electrum wallet.
Electrum doesn't support iPhones yet except for Macbooks so maybe you are using a fake Electrum wallet be careful I hope once you have access to your wallet transfer it right away and be careful Electrum is not supported in IOS.

I downloaded coinomi and tried it, "unknown private key format", although it said they support mini keys. Code should be ok, starts with S and has 30 characters, iphone camera QR finds the same key characters and I even checked it with a magnifying glass.

Coinomi is far from the safest software wallet, and besides, I don't think it can connect and sync anymore to many networks. Perhaps, it's no longer working with Bitcoin either. If you have a good camera, you could try taking a picture of the QR code up close. Make sure it stabilizes and isn't blurry. After that, try to scan the QR code from the picture you took on your phone using the desktop version of Electrum. Check the settings and see if there is an option somewhere in the wallet to lower the density of the QR code to low. It might help.
