Hi all.

Tomorrow, I am celebrating my 1 year anniversary in the forum. I have big plans for tonight, so I will probably not manage to post this tomorrow.

So here I am today, to express my gratitude to each and everyone of you! All of you have been my guiding light towards my final destination, which is no other than to fully understand Bitcoin as a tool and to use it daily to improve my financial life.

I will use this post, to gather a set of tools and tutorials that I have been able to implement during my first year in the forum. Of course, the knowledge that I have gathered for the following list wouldn't have been possible without you.

This list, will be constantly updated. I can promise that as long as I am around in the forum, I won't stop learning and coding.

TOOLS
BASH21 - A simple BASH paper wallet generator
BRAIN21 - A simple Brain Wallet generator in BASH
PY21 - A simple BIP39 mnemonic generator in PYTHON

TUTORIALS
[BitcoinTalk Node Tutorial #1] Running Bitcoin Core on Raspbian Lite (GUI-less)
[BitcoinTalk Node Tutorial #2] Installing Electrs from source
[BitcoinTalk Node Tutorial #3] Sparrow terminal / infinite Whirlpool mixes
[BitcoinTalk Node Tutorial #4] Connecting BISQ to our node
[BitcoinTalk Node Tutorial #5] Hosting a Monero node on the same machine

I'm the first one to advance congratulate you for your 1st anniversary on this forum. I wish you best of luck, I hope you'll continue making such great tutorials which may help users of the forum.

Hi all.

Tomorrow, I am celebrating my 1 year anniversary in the forum. I have big plans for tonight, so I will probably not manage to post this tomorrow.

Congratulations on your achievements in the forum. I think the many merits you have prove that you are a quality member of the forum and of course have broad insight. It is very difficult to understand Bitcoin in depth in one year unless you have coding skills and look for a lot of information on forums or outside forums.

You also use a legendary avatar that is only used by certain members who are famous on the forum, that is a real proof of the quality you have. Maybe Miss Foxpup chose you because she saw something special in you.  Awesome Vile Vixen

You are a humble person, I hope you can become a nine-tailed fox. It's a great character in the Naruto manga series, I don't know if you've read it or not, but it's one of the best manga after One Piece.

It seems like this thread has gone quite far, from meta ~ off topic ~ to Development & Technical Discussion. Lol  Cheesy

You remind me myself when my account was just one year old. I suppose that you're now addicted to this forum, just like I was!

You've grown at a rapid rate, and I hope you continue sharing your insights. I admire your humbleness and eagerness for learning. I can see that you've studied computers and have learned to produce knowledge (and pass it on to others). You're a valuable member for this place, no doubt.

I hope you have an even more constructive year ahead. I believe you can recognize that Bitcoin is a rabbit hole. Buckle up, and enjoy the deep plunge.  Smiley

Sadness and sorrow is one of my favourite melodies of all time. Haha let's not derail the conversation any longer, but yeah I have seen both.

This place is better because my tutorials are bitcoin specific.

Apogio is a nice upcoming forum programmer his guides I really really nice I must say. Because of most of his post especially those easy scripts and codes I actually decided to venture programming although I had it in mind before I joined this forum , apogio plus many other decent members have actually made me venture it already.

I admire your decision to learn how to code, Mia Chloe. Keep it up too!

You have made me blush, simply because Leo IS one of the most technically savvy people I have ever engaged with.
Leo sent me a DM once. I will not post it here, because I value his privacy very much. The only thing I will say, is that he seemed to trust me and my eagerness to learn about Bitcoin. This was one of the biggest satisfaction moments I could have ever wished for.

Definitely Leo was just too good he was a gem on this forum who left us sadly may his soul rest in peace  Embarrassed
Actually I always liked codes and stuff but the problem was more of time related stuff because I never really had much time to spare for it and obviously coding requires a great deal of time consistency and dedication. Though I understood and was able to write simple html and css , I really wanted something more practical and kind of intense. So I picked phyton also because I discovered it's widely used especially on this forum too.
Has been quite nice though.

Hey apogio, is there any plan to add a brain wallet generator to your tools list?

I have done one in the past, but i was a mix with Bash and Python, it would be nice to see a tool like that generated only with Bash Script.

It would be nice to have a code that runs with:

Code:
sh brainwallet.sh "List of the words for the brain wallet"

If you have some free time to create a tool like this, i would love it, if not, there is no problem at all, thanks for the current tools that you already shared with the community.

I can do it, certainly. In fact it is very easy, the only thing that changes is the entropy generation. Instead of getting the entropy from dev/urandom, it will take it from standard input.

I will do it and let you know.

Edit: just a friendly reminder though. Our brains are not a good entropy source. So I ll implement it just for fun. Don't use it  Smiley

To use it for testing and playing around with, sure. But it should never be advertised as a way to generate your keys. Brain wallets aren't safe. And we humans are bad at randomly picking anything. Such a wallet would be less safe than one created from random sources of entropy. It could lead to loss of funds if you were to deposit bitcoin into a wallet created that way that would then get brute forced by someone.

I have also edited my post above to say this.
I am sceptical now, whether I should implement it or not.
Perhaps I shouldn't, because I know that seoincorporation is aware he shouldn't use it, but I can't be sure for other people too.

Do whatever you like. Don't let what I said stop you from developing what you like and creating your own tools. However, I would make sure that I place a visible warning for the brain wallet generator in a way so that anyone who wants to use it sees the notification. That should stop people creating such wallets and funding them. With such a warning, you have done your part of informing people about the dangers. It's their job to take it seriously.

Haven’t to see someone like yourself who only joined up a year to this time (although it might seem like a long time) but considering how far the forum has come and the fact that, you’ve come this far to the point of creating simple tutorials to help other users push through even as you learn as well is very inspiring. It tells the magnitude of work that is been put in this forum and what one could archive with some focus.

Just a quick look at your tutorials, I find some of it to come with series and quite self explanatory in simple, logical and some have pictorial representations of steps, that’s cool. Hope this is up more than before for more exposure.

It might be days after but, one year is some time to not say,
Happy anniversary apogio!
