Most investors keep off from altcoins because 99.99% of altcoins are shitcoins and/or scams.  Sure, you might get lucky and hit the jackpot with some odd altcoin, but the chances ain't in your favor. Finding those diamond-in-the-rough alts takes some serious time and effort, and even experts mess up and lose money.  Plus, even small investments can lead to big losses.  Just because you didn't put much money down don't mean the risk is tiny.  You could definitely end up losing everything.

Is true that some alts are not really worth that's if you trade them on dex but check those ones listed on Cex. Most might not give you what you want, but the Majority of them are really worth holding. I'll always say this check coins listed on Binance or Bitget or the latter mostly because they tend to list alts more often and you will see how these coins few days after they sky rock..

Yes I wouldn’t deny that good analysts most at times know to actually do research on some Altcoins and luckily for them they get to hit the jack pot but have you asked them how many times they have also hit the dust. Altcoin investment is somewhat like future trading to me, yes you will be good in the analysis and you can as well do it well but the market will definitely take it own shape and that’s what analysts experience too in Altcoins.

Many of the altcoin investors does that, they spot the seem to be a good one for them with small caps and wait until they start pumping. That's how they make money from it but they don't stay for too long as said, they're traders and investors and are there to make money.

The reason most investors stay away from altcoin is as reason of its volatility why because when you invest in altcoin there is every possibility to lose all that you invested, but with bitcoin investment you can still have that trust when bitcoin create new ATH you could get back what you have invested no matter what.

It was easy back then because many projects were good and had usage but now with scammers and hackers around the Crypto community, investors are losing a lot of money because so many projects are doing rug pull, exit scam and many of these are not gaining support.
Many projects are just trending because of hype and it's hard to analyze a project because we don't know the intention of these projects.
I also became a victim of these scam projects they made me believe that they were going to complete the roadmap only to find out that they did an exit scam and I was late to dump these coins.

How do you analyze altcoins today when many of these altcoins are just the result of hype and deceptive marketing like in the case of Meme coins, after the success of Shiba Inu to duplicate the success of Dogecoin we have a lot of new meme coins promoting themselves to be the next Shiba Inu, same with Pepe, there are a lot of Pepe coins now there is miner based Pepe, and there is AI-based meme. Even the best Crypto analysts will be misled by these hypes.

If you have thousands of dollars and want to invest in crypto I think I would suggest investing in Bitcoin, Ethereum or BNB. Just those 3 coins. It is the safest option and can give you good returns. Of course they don't give you huge returns like altcoins but I think most altcoin projects will die when their popularity declines. You can see from 2017 until now how many altcoins in the top 100 are still surviving? I think it's only about 10%. So if you are a good crypto observer, of course you will invest in Bitcoin, ETH or BNB. But if you are trying to speculate and gain big profits, you can try altcoins. But still move to Bitcoin when you have made a profit.

I don't agree with your statement that altcoins always guarantee you profits. That's for sure that if you hold the coin over and over years there will come a time that you might get profit but that's now always the case. People invest to get profits over some time not for over years and years. Yes they might invest for a long term but that investment is more in coins like BTC and ETH etc.

Altcoins are traded for short term profits and traders usually get out daily from the trade. Now here is a point that one should be a very good analyst to go for good profits otherwise the market is a little volatile when it comes to daily trade in altcoins and it might lead to losses.

yes you are right. there are no coins as good and better as Bitcoin and Ethereum. It is undeniable that these two coins can provide benefits if you invest there. Likewise with BNB, even though it is relatively new, it can position itself as a coin that is worthy of being used as a tool for long-term investment.
I have all three in my portfolio as fixed investments. but still looking for other altcoins for diversification and financial multipliers that are ultimately just for fun

the thing that I like from investing in altcoin in general is just basically you can be gaining 10x if you are investing in the right altcoin and the only worst scenario that we might come across is just losing our capital entirely but if we only invest using fraction of our capital it can give massive benefit if im being honest.
the thing that keeps people off probably because as you said, too much greed resulting in them being the worst analyst there is and therefore blaming altcoin.
the sole reason altcoin exists is to give that chance of speculation, if we know the fundamental of a good coin that might make it big we can easily spot coin that are gonna be rising.
for example is low market cap despite the team is solid and being backed by big venture capitals. its an easy dollar for me.
added with innovative technology, even if its L1 it just means its S tier investment in my opinion.
