I have some random small accounts, I am quoted $100 to move my tokens from their wallet/contract.

I don't have the eth there, and its only $150 worth anyway, which then i have to send from my wallet (so another massive gas bill)
to another exchange as they removed the coin from trading, even though it is still an active ongoing project and still is trading elsewhere.

Also, it's impossible to consolidate a few small amounts of eth into one account.. i tried to send $10 eth and was quoted $120 gas bill..

This is pure madness.. Ethereum at this point is unviable due to scalability.

Does anyone know how i can get my tokens off dex cheaper? and how to send $10 worth of eth? Crypto ain't what it useda be. Everything is scammy.

AFAIK, there's this Dencun upgrade that has happened for Ethereum lately. And that is about the decreasing of fees. I don't know why you've been asked for a $120 by that wallet of yours for a $10 worth of ETH to transfer. Gwei(gas fee) right now is around 47 and it's likely $1 but if this is a wallet that's from a dex then it's about the commission that they're getting. One thing that you can do is to always monitor the gas fees and check it out if the fees are acceptable to you to do the transfer.

Not a scam! While there are scams in crypto, the high gas fees are a real technical hurdle, not a scam. The community is working on solutions. I know this has been a long-standing challenge on the Ethereum network, but we've managed to cope somewhat. One workaround is to wait for periods when connection congestion is lower to execute transactions. If you're not in a hurry, consider sending them at midnight on weekends and around midday each day.

Maybe the gas limit is very high?

I stopped using Ethereum years ago. At the time when the gas fees were too high. It only favored those with big amounts of Ethereum or tokens to transfer, and not small accounts. Instead of having headache trading ERC20 tokens on Ethereum chain. Try alternative cheaper chains like BSC and Solana (which has become quite popular lately)

You need to use any L2 network or you need to pay the gas fees. There isn't any way around it. I put some tokens in a staking contract one year ago on the ETH network when the gas price was low. Low when i am trying to claim my reward the gas price is greater than the reward value. I think this will continue for a long time, and similar things will happen before the last bull run as well. That time i can still remember when the ETH gas price rose to $400$ in terms of USD value. This is an indication of the bull run.

OP, You should use changeNow to fund your ETH account with gas (native eth) then try to move your tokens when gas prices are low. It was around 54 gwei today and usually around 40 gwei on weekends as things are slow during the weekend and most folks are busy with families and stuffs. That's the best way to use ethereum now. It's crazy how the small players on ethereum Mainnet have all been driven away. Even ethereum transaction costs far exceeds that of Bitcoin. BTC

So to recap:
  • Do a change now swap. Send a token with cheap tx cost like sol and receive ETH on Mainnet to your address (via changeNow
  • Finally, use the Mainnet eth to pay for gas. Be sure to monitor gwei prices and execute when gwei is low.

Thanks, noted the info. But, my token stuck on dex i cant trade there is worth like 150 , quotes me around 0.008 - 0.01 eth to move it at 67 - 70 gwei.
It's stuck on idex ethereum 1 chain, it's been there a while.. so then, i can swap it with metamask or uniswap, but how much will the gas be on that?
Seems i will have to spend $100+ on gas, and end up 50 infront, but its not really as the tokens initially cost about 600 usd.

I have not yet moved my ETH from blast farming page to the main net and the fees kills me too. Been waiting for several days and the gas fees keep stagnant and it's likely you will not able to withdraw your funds without even adding more gas fees to pay the fees. If token is still having higher value than the transaction fees cost and it's still worth to add some ethers to get back your token. Can you name what token is it? Has token supported other blockchain too? several tokens can be traded in the multiple blockchain. Maybe bridging your token is costing less than what L1 dex charged you.

Dencun is focusing on L2 transactions. it's not increasing the scalability of ethereum transcations. The fees is still remain the same but when you were interacting with L2 blockchain and it will cost you smaller fees compared before dencun implemented on ETH network.

Dencum upgrade has nothing to do with layer 1. It has to do with layer 2 wherein now the data will be stored in blobs, which will reduce the fees in layer 2. The current high fees in layer 1 constitute for various reasons as we know and nothing can be done about it. All we can do is wait patiently for the fees to come down and that will take some time. This is the reason why a lot of traders are not longer using Ethereum DEX and are migrating to other blockchains where the fees are less.

What wallet are you using? I understand if it's contract withdrawals, but you shouldn't be paying upwards of $100 for just ETH transfers.

But yea, as usage and price increases, expect higher fees on the Ethereum base chain.

AFAIK, there's this Dencun upgrade that has happened for Ethereum lately. And that is about the decreasing of fees.
Anyone?

I guess eth is dead, even the next upgrade isn't sustainable.
The Dencun blobs upgrade is to improve fees on Ethereum Layer-2s, not the base Ethereum chain itself.

Yes dencun upgrade is completed however its purpose is to scale L2 thats why you will noticed that the gas fee like zksync, starknet, linea and many more has been reduced since the upgrade.

I think OPs case is unfortunate even though he has tokens worth like that we really need to spend a lot on gas on eth just to use send or trade that tokens. Not advisable to use eth for low transactions now its gonna be a big waste.

you can honestly always modify the gwei that you set using metamask its available when you try to execute a swap and then you can change the fee I guess using the advanced features but you're risking your transaction not confirmed for so long that it might be detrimental towards yout trade as well as speeding up later when turns out the transaction is taking a while and you have no patience gonna be pain in the ass because its gonna be charging you even higher fee overall.
there's quite literally nothing you can do here, the only way is to wait it out until the gwei is decreasing you can see the chart of when fee decreasing in various sites out there and then do the transaction around that time there's even bot that can help giving alert when the latest block fee is relatively cheap.
but its not really too reliable solution overall, the fee always varies between each block so there's that.
people in the eth blockchain really eager to pay some humongous fee from the most abstract thing it seems indeed.
