They really are cracking down those people that are involved in trading or holding Bitcoin. I guess you guys really have to hide all of those crypto related apps if you go outside or use another device when you have to go outside and just leave that phone that has apps installed for your crypto trades and portfolio managing. You'll never know what the police or anyone will do to you upon knowing or accidentally seen that you're also into crypto investing/trading as they'd always have that mindset that someone who's in, has got a lot of money.

While it's true that the legal status of Bitcoin can vary in different countries, there are no widespread efforts to arrest or prosecute individuals for simply owning or trading Bitcoin. As for protecting your digital assets, using strong passwords and encryption can help maintain the security of your crypto apps.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

While physical security like separate devices for storage and daily use is crucial, it's just one piece of the puzzle.  Imagine losing your phone with your Bitcoin wallet app, regardless of whether you're a target of street harassment.

The anecdote about the police questioning individuals about their Bitcoin holdings raises additional concerns.  In many jurisdictions, police require warrants for phone searches.  Imagine being stopped and pressured into revealing your financial information without legal justification.  This underscores the importance of knowing your rights.

A holistic approach to Bitcoin security is essential.  Physical separation of devices, strong passwords, and awareness of cyber threats are all important.  Additionally, understanding your rights regarding phone searches and data privacy is crucial, especially in areas with uncertain legal frameworks around cryptocurrency.

Cryptos are legal in my country, and police don't just stop random people on the street and ask to see their phone apps, even though we literally have martial law, and they can do a lot of stuff. Phones are checked only if there's a reasonable suspicion that this person's working for the enemy and that there's proof of that on the phone. If someone just looks weird to police, they check ID and might ask a couple of questions, but that's it. Overall, there are no questions, no checks, and of course something like a Binance app wouldn't lead to any additional questions because nobody cares about that.
That being said, I have zero crypto apps on my phone, simply because I take my phone will me and I feel like it's safer to keep crypto stuff on PC which always stays home.
In my country when a person earns money without doing any government or private job that person is looked upon with suspicion by the people around him. And a lot of their violent attitude can be observed. It is also possible that someone who harbored hostility may have informed the police of his activities. In such a situation the police will definitely look at him suspiciously and may check the phone he is carrying.
We may not be able to work from home all the time as we need to go out. And since the phone is an easy method of transportation, even if we work outside the home it is not convenient to use all these cryptocurrency-related apps on a laptop.

Along the way going a black cap men stopped us and wanting to search us after which they asked to unlock our device and so luckily I already hide my important app as my instinct leads me, but people around me that entered same vehicle(taxi) with me didn't do that and I noticed they have similar app on their iPhone so the policemen called to asked them about the Binance and other apps in their phone when they opened it they started questioning them about the funds inside and how did they manage to raise those funds although those young men weren't able to speak boldly and to defend themselves correctly and that was how they asked us to leave took them to station for further questioning.

As trader or holder is bitcoin legal in your country how environmental friendly bitcoin is over there, this is for those country that are facing difficulty with bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large. While leaving at home it's advisable to set an important app hidden if you think trading bitcoin or having them will lead you to great danger especially within my country where they suspect lots of boys to be internet fraudster.

I will say this is misplaced priority by the policemen, they do even what there not suppose to do in their line of duty. Their work is to keep the country safe from criminals, anything that has to do with money that is been obtained or used illegally shouldn’t be their work to do but the work of the Economic and Financial Crime Commissions (EFCC) which they also gave to get a warrant before searching you. But since many don’t know their basic rights and are scared out of their pants of not wanting to be penalized for what they know nothing about, they allow them to search them and they end up paying for what is rightfully lawful for them to use or operate at anytime.

If you’re an holder of bitcoin or any cryptocurrency and you can confidently back up how you’ve made those money, I don’t think you should be sacred when approached by policemen on how you got those coins in your wallet. Sometime your boldness to them scare them off as they know you can’t be so bold to them and talk to their face directly on how you can cover for that source of money. We live in a place where there’s freedom of speech but no freedom after the speech. I don’t blame those that can’t speak up for themselves sometimes, because the repercussions sometimes is not nice to see. In whatever we do, we should take action wisely that will not implicate us further.

When someone can have an income without working for a government or private agency, of course now it has become commonplace because everyone will be able to earn income from the internet by creating content creators and many others and also in this forum we will also be able to have income when we take part in campaigns and can get paid and if there are still people who suspect something that is not good for us of course we don't have to think about that if we haven't committed any violations we have to stay focused on what we do and what we don't do. we need to think about people who think badly of us.
And I have never found someone who is able to work every day at home, of course this will make them bored and they will choose to leave the house and choose a comfortable place for us to work.

Nigeria police and their misdirected search. They won't go after the big politicians who launder money by pretending they're trading these cryptos or who've boys who trade them on their behalf and leave helpless and unconnected youths alone. Wasn't it during the #endears protest that we saw Kucoin app on the PC of a minister in Nigeria and he was even on VPN at a time Twitter and cryptos were banned in the country. What came out of that exposure, nothing. It was swept under the carpet. Anyway, my advice to the youth is for them to know how not to expose their trading apps. If they've more than a phone, they can convert one to crypto phone and kept at home.
I have not seen a situation whereby government attack traders in nigeria, theirs one popular Nigerian bitcoin trader called blord,  government have tried to severally to arrest B.lord and they could not arrest him, even when economic financial crimes commission  [Efcc] filed case against b.lord, the b.lord won them in court of law, nigeria government is not against whosoever that is into cryptocurrency trading, even some of the politicians is even saving their funds with cryptocurrency especially bitcoin

Is that true? Nigeria is too much for that kind of thing; imagine they are attacking crypto traders for that kind of thing. I don't see anything wrong with doing trading activity,
honestly speaking.

As a matter of fact, trading here in crypo or bitcoin is helpful because, of course, once the traders have a profit, their government will get them taxes for every prime commodity they buy,
and then they will do the same.

Really? Why are the youth harassed then for having crypto apps on their phones? The Anambra born BLord was arrested just like some other crypto OGs in Nigeria because there were allegations of fraud against them but those allegations couldn't be proved at the time. From the way it's looking now, it's obvious that the government is anetema to the growth of cryptos. Don't forget that anything that gets people independent of the government is seen as anti-government all over the world. It's not just a Nigeria thing. This is what cryptos do. There are so many Nigerians who depend solely on cryptos to earn a living and careless of whatever government does with unemployment. By the way, why is the Nigeria government asking Binance to release names of its Nigerian customers?

Its very interesting because I am living in a country where things are never been as government wants usually peoples give strong reaction about policies which prevent them from having benefits so in crypto case same things happening like they are not allowing trade and use of the crypto officially, but we have too much use with many are doing things openly and nothing wrong happening to them.
I personally know too many peoples those are having crypto specially bitcoin for their own stuff because this brings good changes into their lives which is good so they are having positive mindset about this and day by day we are increasing numbers of users in this crypto community which is also big success for this and peoples those are understanding and joining this all.

That is a popular case which got lots of attention and the individual in this case was able to afford a very good legal team. Many individuals who have been harrased by the authorities for their involvement in crypto related activities never actually made it to the internet.
This is for me very alarming if it will happen here in my country but as of this moment we are still having the best experiences hodling Bitcoin though the authorities are currently taking strict actions against unregistered foreign and local crypto exchanges. So far no harassment being committed here in my country since we are living in a crypto friendly country.

Maybe that attack was because of the government of Nigeria putting restrictions on p2p transactions or maybe blord violated the crypto ban but if he has no violation himself and then got harassed that is not fair

But this is currently what is happening in Nigeria:

Quote
the government could use the abundance of P2P traders in Nigeria as an asset and treat crypto stakeholders as allies to understand how to use crypto to the advantage of the nation’s economy.

Nigeria is currently the largest P2P crypto market in the world, which came about after the Central Bank of Nigeria banned institutions from buying and selling crypto in 2021. In December 2023, the Nigerian government lifted the 2021 crypto ban, enabling crypto exchanges to apply for licenses in Nigeria.

While leaving at home it's advisable to set an important app hidden if you think trading bitcoin or having them will lead you to great danger especially within my country where they suspect lots of boys to be internet fraudster.
It seems like what you feel is much more difficult and maybe your country has made Bitcoin an illegal act that people there should avoid. I am not faced with this problem because in our country bitcoin can still be used as an investment asset. The highly exaggerated suspicion of your country's government and internet fraud should not only involve people who are in bitcoin because there are many other people who will also commit similar fraud without being involved in bitcoin.

What i experience last night made me to raised this topic so we can learn to secure our investment or be very mindful while moving with our smartphone at night it's very risky to lose one valuable asset at this point.
If that's what it sounds like then I think you and anyone else out there should be more careful about hiding investments in bitcoin. Because security is much more important than talking about investment in your country. I want to know what is meant by the risk of losing bitcoin assets, is it related to hacking or were we arrested and then the assets were taken over by the security forces there?

As trader or holder is bitcoin legal in your country how environmental friendly bitcoin is over there, this is for those country that are facing difficulty with bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large. While leaving at home it's advisable to set an important app hidden if you think trading bitcoin or having them will lead you to great danger especially within my country where they suspect lots of boys to be internet fraudster.

What i experience last night made me to raised this topic so we can learn to secure our investment or be very mindful while moving with our smartphone at night it's very risky to lose one valuable asset at this point.
It is difficult indeed when a country that does not really expect crypto, especially bitcoin, exists then it is certain that it will be sought because after all it is like violating the regulations they enforce so that it will be considered an irregularity so caution is clearly very important in this case.

Fortunately in my country it is still quite comfortable even though until now bitcoin is still considered a commodity but no bans have occurred and even the government is currently starting to facilitate traders or investors in bitcoin which shows that my country is still welcoming this.
But indeed caution is very necessary because after all we do not know the dangers that will occur around us so that a simple way by hiding applications or those related to your assets can be a good way to make yourself comfortable.

True, even in my country government doesn't have a say or movement towards crypto currency or bitcoin but of course they dont also have a plan on adopting this stuff, even we are free from trading or holding crypto currency assets we also doesn't have a clear view thta in my country where I reside where going to adopt crypto currency, sad but its better than those country who treat crypto currency as illegal that its people needs to hide their activity that they are doing in crypto currency spcae, it is uncomfortable for an investor to invest illegally but they have no cho8ce but to stay hidden and lowkey to avoid those authority who might sanction them. So for us who is free to do so should be thankful that we are in a free country and we have our own freedom in terms of financial.

Does your country never aware of the rising demand in work from home set up and remote jobs? I mean companies around the world are practicing the kind of set up because they can actually benefit from it by cutting budgets from any office and in-house expenses. I think that is gonna be a huge advantage for you and your people who have engaged into cryptocurrency, because when the authority check on you for any suspicious activity, you will be able to protect yourself by showing them you're working remotely with a company who practices remote job.
I mean, there are already a lot of job seeker platform in the internet you can show them that. Most importantly, you need to learn how to secure and hide your cryto related apps.

Luckily, in my country, the government here provides the widest possible access for people to be able to trade Bitcoin and Altcoins, but with the caveat that traders trade on official exchanges that have been verified by the government, apart from these exchanges, people cannot trade cryptocurrency. But even if there are people trading outside regulated exchanges, the police cannot take action against them because personal devices are a person's privacy, and the police cannot conduct searches unless prosecutors ask them to.
So it is very sad to see how your country treats ordinary citizens who are involved in cryptocurrency trading, because it is their freedom to trade crypto or not, and police actions like that clearly violate human rights.

Everyone should be able to trade cryptocurrencies freely. Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are assets that people invest in and can hold for the long term. No one should prevent this. People should be free to choose what and how to invest.

For example, in my country, Bitcoin trading is not legally regulated, but crypto trading is allowed on exchanges.

I guess keeping important apps and accounts protected with strong passwords and other security measures should be taken when dealing with keeping hard earned money safe. While surely there are governments which are not friendly to crypto, I guess it would be better to follow what the government is imposing for the time being for own safety, for like those people, if they managed to earn that money by working hard and then converted it to crypto, they should have good answers about the sources, if they can't give proper answers, that does indicate the chances of them being fraud. I guess for normal people too, it is better to wait and pray that government recognizes crypto then trade or hold rather than buying and then hiding it. Grin
but for my country crypto is fully supported by the government because they know crypto is a digital asset for the future which is very good for investing, even though it cannot be used as a legal means of payment yet, the government has fully supported crypto users and has made the best possible regulations so that It is not easy to commit fraud, of course this is something every citizen and state apparatus must be aware of.

Likewise, in my country there is still no official regulation of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies so people can freely use and trade. But the lack of regulation also has certain obstacles, if we get scammed involving cryptocurrency, law enforcement agencies will not come to our defense.

Also, I would like to know which countries are legalizing bitcoin and allowing people to use it legally. Do bitcoin investors voluntarily pay taxes or will they take advantage of bitcoin to avoid taxes? And that may also be one of the reasons why some governments do not legalize bitcoin.

For example, in my country, Bitcoin trading is not legally regulated, but crypto trading is allowed on exchanges.

everyone hopes it's like that, but unfortunately it's not. the government has the authority to restrict people from accessing and trading bitcoin, for example in china, bangladesh and several other countries, the government there prohibits its citizens from being able to own and trade bitcoin and citizens have no choice but to comply with this.

this is quite sad, considering that everyone should have the same opportunity to access cryptocurrency. however, for economic reasons and to maintain fiat stability, the government can prohibit people from accessing it. hopefully in the future more governments will be aware of this problem and immediately allow bitcoin trading in their countries.

Generally, the place of security and safety is a very serious factor we've not taken seriously to a very large extent. If you're living in a country where every youth that's seen living an expensive lifestyle or seen with a huge amount of money in his wallet or bank app is termed a criminal, it becomes hard to even go out with your bank app or wallet actively visible in your device.

In a sane society, as long as you know that you can defend the source of your fund, it would have been easier to carry your phone anywhere and anyhow you want to but that's not  the reality of things, even when your source of income is legit, they will still want to extort money from you and that's one reason it's necessary to lay safe and freeze all your apps so you don't end up not explaining and paying for things you ought not to.

As a fast rising digital currency and the number one most cherished and valuable coin people within it's environment has been using it greatly to help spread the max adoption which many people goes into trading, holding or investment. We have to also understand that our device aren't safe while moving with either our phone or laptop.
Not only while on the move, but also while in your home, these devices (and the information in them) can't be 100% safe, therefore, precautions should be taken to make it very difficult for unauthorized persons (whoever they may be) to gain access.

It all happened yester-night; this happened yesterday night while going back to a place of work with my device as I was leaving something in me keeps telling me to freeze my important apps which includes my Binance app, Okx app, Electrum app and other digital asset app within my device was freezed and removed from my phone menu.
Was it enough in your case to simply remove application shortcuts on the desktop? On the street, conducting a deep analysis of applications installed on the phone is very inconvenient.

Unlocking and subsequent searches of phones were clearly not legal in this case, because what legal grounds could there be if this is applied to random people they meet on the street. Of course, the level of “legality” of law enforcement actions varies greatly from country to country, but one should have stood up for one’s rights.

Once your cryptoassets are taken away from you, you will not think about the legality status of the bitcoin. Therefore, it is better not for anyone to know about this.

What i experience last night made me to raised this topic so we can learn to secure our investment or be very mindful while moving with our smartphone at night it's very risky to lose one valuable asset at this point.
A smartphone is an easily lost and taken away device, therefore, you should only store information on this device that you are willing to lose.

Sometimes it depends on the country as a police officer they always leave their duty to search on young people device especially those with a smart device such Iphone and Samsung, they always felt anyone with such device is always classified as an internet fraudster which they suspect anyone using such expensive phone.

For about devices I will suggest people have external drive to store their important things inside it, or they could have them printed to avoid losing their asset and device completely then they store it a safe place where only them can access to it.
