Too much emotions without any rational thinking. So many fans have gone from mild to extreme club fanaticism which is where arguments, fights and misunderstanding ensues.

Same the kind of tension when it comes to expressing their sides in politics. It always does happen even in a peaceful family. There is always tension when one expresses something that others don't like. Too passionate about the teams they support I guess if you are a fan, you can debate who's who.

But this is just sports, politics is the worse as it really breaks families apart especially when the in-laws step in.

I do have a brother from another father who is just like this, since he is the older one we used to visit his place for Christmas, whenever Arsenal is playing football, if you know what's good for you, do not talk against Arsenal or laugh when Arsenal lose the match.

Whenever Arsenal loses a match it's always going to be a bad week for us all, and I thought he would change, this was one of the few reasons why I don't visit his place for holidays anymore, he simply takes football too seriously and I don't like it.

It would have been better if he wasn't taking it out on others around him, this habit makes me get pissed, to the extent that I don't want to get closer to him anymore, it sucks when you let your emotions get the best of you, do not let sports breaks your family, this brother isnt even betting money on these games, yet he took things too serious.

such tension are just momentary and doesn't last long after the match.  It always intense at the stadium and less intense for those watching from home. Club matches don't always come with such emotions that can possibly result in fights and dispute most expeciall to love ones. What has always resulted in long term sentiment and in some cases fighting is country or communal matches where everyone would normally wish there country to win and it's just mostly aggressive at the stadium for those coming into the host territory. I think recently a thread was created about some fans being killed when they were showing off themselves too much during a particular game in an opponents camp. Football normally comes with tension so to be on a safer side, when watching, do it from the comfort of your room and if you must visit the stadium, engage in supporting your club responsibly so you don't bring problem on yourself.

Yeah football fans seem to get to involved with emotions and passion, they get to dedicated to this and I've seem some persons that get so angry when their club loses and it affects their state of mind, so when anything has become such a part of anyones life such extremes are bound to happen.

With what I noticed, I can see friends and families arguing about football even if they are in the same club or different clubs but I can not seen how it led to division among friends and family. They know it is just ball but it is part of humans to argue but not in a way that will lead to fighting. Even if it led to fighting, it is as a result of the approach used and which can happen not just because of football but because of behavior and manner of approach. But we should know that family is family and blood is thicker than water while also friends are friends and such fight will still be forgotten.

It is painful when family and friends put their clubs above their bonds because of their different clubs playing against each other. Although I have never seen these types of tension lead to throwing of physical punches but you would fear that the hot debate amongst them would lead to a fist fight.

There should be a conflict resolution style for each party to develop. The way you can help is to talk to both parties and act neutral. Or better, the matches should be watched in a pub where there are other people. This can douse any tension as there will be other people to intervene when it becomes too much.

I think those cases are not much although there some of them in the world as you say in very famous derby games like Inter Milan vs Milan or the hottest of all derbies I would judge to be Boca Juniors vs River Plate in Argentina.I also don't understand family members that fight over football games as that is not very logical,though I understand that humans are driven by emotions and that is why such things happen.These are rare events so this is a good thing.

I have seen many times where men and boys sit and argue out football supporting their various clubs and teams, but it does not commonly result in deep grudges or a fight. I have asked some men before why there is always so much argument whenever a football game is on, the answer I got was that it was a part of the fun of the game. If you find two people fighting unashamedly because of a football match, they are both immature people. Football has created more unity among different people than dispute.

The football community is at a whole other level. When I was a kid, we fought at school because some of us thought that Messi and Barca were the best while another thought that Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid were the best. There is tension because people think that their opinion is correct and dislike other people who don't support their opinion. People support people who are like them, they don't like people who are different from them.

What I can say is that you people are not mature at all because not that Messy nor C. Ronaldo will be like your friend and family. I can argue about the two but I can not give up my friendship or social intentions because of them. I value people that are around me that gives me joy than those people that gives me nothing than for me to support them and earn more fortune from their followers.

Naturally human beings like superiority while some want it more than others and that is the point. So it depends on who is involved and their personal characteristics and character. If you watch commentators on television and sports analysts, they do argue but they present their argument with facts and in more civilized manner but I believe it is rural people that take football discussion and argument overboard to begin to go even contrary to the focus and point of argument.

It is that ego that is in people that make them difficult and uncontrollable at such points that they want to fight at any provocation. So it is personal and mostly from two people who are ready to fight each other. If you have one person arguing that doesn't want to fight then there won't fight no matter the provocation.

Football is sport that actually manages to unite many people from various circles and backgrounds with good harmony, if there are divisions or fights and disputes then it is clear that they are people who have shallow mindset.
Defending football team or liking star player is actually freedom, but it seems unethical to be too fanatical to the point where fights or divisions arise because this will not provide any benefits and only harm each other.
However, I also admit that there are several groups who are too fanatical about team they are proud of and are willing to do anything to support their favorite team, even worse, there have been several incidents which have become quite heated and have led to large-scale disputes.
Things like this are very unfortunate and as fellow football fans, even though they have differences of opinion and differences in supporting their favorite team, they should still be tolerant and maintain mutual harmony.

Its no always like that mate. With the way you had put it, it makes it sound like football brings about dispute but rather, football brings about unity amongst different people from different culture, practice,religion all over the world. Though, most times we see people argue over their various teams or clubs but that's not a real dispute but just a mere argument.

Yes the division is something that is inevitable but after every match ends, you see these people come back together to celebrate with each other their victory. The only people who fights most times are those who barley understand a thing about what football is. All they do is make money from betting and so when their bets cuts they get extremely angry and tend to be violent. Football is life mate nothing can ever change it.

Some people may be too fanatical so they form communities for their respective teams, in my country a person's life is too cheap just because of revenge from other football team communities and that is truly beyond normal human understanding, that's why the domestic league in my country doesn't make me interested because the audience and fans are still children who still have uncontrolled emotions so it becomes difficult to control them when clashes occur between supporters of different teams.

I love fans or team communities from the big leagues in Europe more because in my opinion, even though they are different support teams, they don't commit violence, let alone commit violence easily to the point of taking someone's life, even though they taunt each other, that's what I think is why they are more mature than the domestic league. In my country, even though their team often gets punished, their fans still never change and there are still frequent clashes between fans of other teams, it's really sad that someone's life is easily lost even though they live in the same country, just different football teams. makes them go crazy and go beyond the limits. Thus, it is not surprising if negative things happen between fans of their respective clubs, if their expectations do not match the results they dream of, The point is that fanatical characters are very dangerous, they can do anything unexpected that leads to anarchy against other communities, so support football clubs professionally, Don't be too fanatical to prevent things that are undesirable both for the club itself and other communities, safe is beautiful.
