Perhaps it should sound weird to alot of people, of course not every one knows the importance of bitcoin and how big it would be in future, so you choosing to know the current price of bitcoin when you eventually get out from the prison shows that bitcoin is the true freedom.

Maybe the interviewer doesn't not know much about bitcoin but from your response he/she would like to make more research on bitcoin, in 10 years bitcoin will experience two cycle which means it should be not les than 200k in price.
One big fact about your response shows a very big hope in bitcoin and that will surely encourage people to hold and keep buying more bitcoin.

Well, I must admit I find your priorities a bit weird too.  Wink Though Bitcoin's future in the next decade remains unpredictable, the urge to immediately check its price after years of incarceration strikes me as rather odd.

Priorities, my friend, priorities.  Surely reuniting with family and friends, enjoying long-missed freedoms and comforts would take precedence?  But hey, to each their own! I guess checking Bitcoin price could feel pretty liberating too.

I was recently interviewed on air. The interviewer described my answer to her question as weird. During the interview, something led to the other and I was asked thus;
The interviewer: If you are eventually imprisoned and denied access to internet and communication for 10 year, on regaining freedom what's the first thing you will do?
My answer: I will ask for a mobile phone or a laptop to check the Bitcoin price Grin
She exclaimed that it is weird that I love bitcoin that much. She proceeded to ask if I am sure bitcoin will still be around in 10yrs time and what value will it have.
My answer: Things change alot, 5 years is alot for many things to happen let alone 10 years. However, I believe bitcoin will be around and it might worth between 100k to 300k dollars.

be prepared core devs are already trying to remove legacy key functionality within core. which other wallet that follow core code usually then follow.. so if you disappeared for a decade, expect a headache trying to get wallets of the future from even understanding old key import methods

yep they have for last few years been preparing to remove legacy key import methods and pretend there will be a separate migration tool (eaier to just keep it in core.. but core devs dont care for whats best for users) but funnily enough although preparing to remove legacy key import from core, the irritating narcissist pushing to remove it has not actually built the "separate migration tool" he pretends would be the "promise of backward compatibility"

so be prepared if they are removing legacy soon, expect they will remove other things later..

Thats insane. The seed will be useless in that case. who the hell would allow importing methods to be removed?
So checking the Bitcoin price in prison will be useless. He sure would be hoping to have millions of money after 10 years in prison but finding out he can't import means he is penniless.

Its not weird to ask access to the internet to check the BTC price. Some of us just wake up in the middle of the night just to check BTC price.
10 year is a long time for a lot of developments to set in, In that case it's just to hand over the wallet to a trusted  confidant, there must be someone we can entrust it to  to ensure that the lack of legacy keep import doesn't void you from profiting from your bitcoin after serving your time. Better to risk it to some family member custody of the wallet than  risking knowing that you're coming out penniless.

@OP, the answer to the question looks weird to people who are not familiar with cryptocurrency investment or have not invested to any investment venture at all.  For investors it is especially for Bitcoin investors, it is normal to ask for internet to know about his investments, the status and price changes, and whether his investment take a profit.  I am sure he won't be asking to meet his family since his family will normally visit him in his imprisonment time.

Bitcoin is over 10 years now so it is not surprising the Bitcoin will still exist after a decade unless the government suppresses Bitcoin which is highly unlikely.

Maybe the interview doesn't not know much about bitcoin but from your response he/she would like to make more research on bitcoin, in 10 years bitcoin will experience two cycle which means it should be not les than 200k in price.
One big fact about your response shows a very big hope in bitcoin and that will surely encourage people to hold and keep buying more bitcoin.

This is the thing that comes to my mind.  The interviewer is not familiar with cryptocurrency specifically Bitcoin.  She probably heard about Bitcoin but she is not into it to know that there are people who are into Bitcoin so much that its market is always the first thing on their mind when they wake up.

Sounds like an interesting interview, is there a link to watch this interview?

For those who do not know much about Bitcoin, it would be crazy for them that the first thing you do after leaving prison after ten years is to request a mobile phone or computer and the Internet to check the price of Bitcoin. Of course, they will not understand such things if they have not tried them themselves.

For Bitcoin lovers and traders this becomes like an addiction or obsession as they spend most of their time even during the night monitoring the prices and signals.

Obviously what I would do on regain of my freedom and that’s if, I couldn’t manage to smuggle a phone or access some by some prison methods or during visiting hours. Still, I would go for it when am out.

Something I feel underestimated though, given the fact that 10years is so long a time, I wouldn’t expect such slow growth for Bitcoin. I don’t see the price to hit its bench mark about $300k, I hope to see it above half a million and that is no exaggeration.

be prepared core devs are already trying to remove legacy key functionality within core. which other wallet that follow core code usually then follow.. so if you disappeared for a decade, expect a headache trying to get wallets of the future from even understanding old key import methods
I think this has got to be the challenge that would befall just anyone to have not been around for a long time. Technology continues to be on a fast pace towards how portability, smart and best ways to do the very same things. A lot code change in a decade as developers are never relenting to bringing upgrades to what has been but, I’ll like to think that, importation of wallets would be around still, as it’s been for over a decade.

That's why we all have different views and also different priorities. If OP's priority is its assets, then so be it. That's what he wants. It may be odd because he doesn't think about his family or friends prices, but we can't blame him. That's how important Bitcoij is to him. But if I am in that situation and I also have bitcoin holdings, of course the first thing is my family because how can I access my things without them? and I'm sure the first thing that will wait for you is your family, so I think that is the most appropriate answer, but again, we have different opinions and priorities, even if it is weird or odd to other people, but for that individual, that is his top priority, and we can't argue with that. This is a free space, so we can share what's on our minds, even if it is weird.

It's weird for those outside of the bitcoin circle so forgive that interviewer saying that to you, I'm sure that he/she doesn't know any better, another reason why I think that interviewer said that your answer is weird is because they don't know how to deal with it or how to make it so that they're not being stupid so that's their only response. Another reason I can think of is a bit scummy on their side which is that they don't like the answer and they're biased and expected you to answer the question with something mundane like get together with your family or celebrate your freedom or anything like that, probably wanted to put their answers in your mouth but they can't because they'd sound biased if they force it.

For a person imprisoned, what they want most is to be free and to return to their loved ones. You answer that you need bitcoin because you have never been in that situation and furthermore, bitcoin is more on your mind than anything else right now. But if you are truly imprisoned, you will realize what you need most. Just like many people always say they don't need love, they don't need anything but money, but when they are close to death they regret it but it's too late. Only when we are in that situation do we really know what we need at that time.

For me I will first of all go to the bathroom and shower, then eat a good food, ask for my family and friends, sleep for sometime and cool off my experience in the prison before I could even ask for my mobile phone or checking after Bitcoin price.

And moreover checking bitcoin price is optional, the only reason that will make me to check on bitcoin price is if I had invested in bitcoin before I was imprisoned. That will only be my motivation because if I check the price and yet I didn't have some bulks there it will make me feel sad for not have invested in it earlier. Because by then the price would have surge so high.

I don't see anything weird with this answer because that's what I'll do too if I had invested into any assets before I was imprisoned. It doesn't matter if it was Bitcoin, gold or any digital assets that I know had potential and had invested into them. The answer is only sounding weird to the interviewer because she's still under the brainwashed people that the government still have control over that Bitcoin is a scam and not worthy of their investment so they can remain under the control of the government. She's a cooperate worker so I'm not surprised that she sees the answer as weird. People with investment mentality won't find that answer weird.

Quote

My answer: Things change alot, 5 years is alot for many things to happen let alone 10 years. However, I believe bitcoin will be around and it might worth between 100k to 300k dollars.

Why is she behaving like 10 years is 100 years. 10 years is just a decade away and many of us here will still be around so it's not a long time and Bitcoin will obviously be around in the next 10 years. 10 years is just 2/3 presidential elections away, just 2/3 halving away so it's not that a long time. Alot can happen in 10 and I'm not in doubt of that but Bitcoin can survive 10 years and will be having a much more better adoption than it currently has. For the price of Bitcoin, I can't give an exact figure but one thing we can have in mind is the price currently won't be the price in the next 10 years. Bitcoin will be trading at a more high price and would have added another zero or more to the price.

Yes, you made the right step and I will say your answer is absolutely right yes it looks funny but you did what was so important to you which is knowing the current state of Bitcoin first of all you should also secure your wallet and make sure all is right that is true then Bitcoin will definitely hit 100k to 300k or even more by 10 years time, I’m seeing a very big opportunity in the next 10 years all bitcoin holder that has bitcoin between 5 to 10 btc in their wallet will Automatically become a millionaire in the next 5 to 10 years intervals, it may look so close but I don’t see it not happening because of my knowledge and the little research I have done, must of the robotic machine will only understand the language bitcoin, and they will pay attention to it more than fiat it is possible by then.

BIG WINNER!

People who are not invested in Bitcoin will always find it weird why we love Bitcoin so much. I guess that the best explanation is that they also will find themselves weird if they find their fortune and money in the bank, that's basically the easiest comparison and logical explanation for them as to why we're different from those who don't own BTC yet. Someday, they're going to understand why it seems to look crazy for them on how's our approach with Bitcoin but then, they'll realize that when someone has a belief and invested a lot of money and time in it, they'll find it weird as well when they've totally understood everything and why we're like this.

believe in you mate and yes you are right that those people don't know about Bitcoin or let say that they Don't invest Bitcoin then one thing for sure they will not agree with us that Bitcoin will give us a bright future. Anyways we don't need their decision because we are all know what are the best thing to do if we have Bitcoin on hold. If we put our money into the bank still we have a profit but not just big like Bitcoin that it almost hit triple or even 10x  of the buying price.

I was recently interviewed on air. The interviewer described my answer to her question as weird. During the interview, something led to the other and I was asked thus;
The interviewer: If you are eventually imprisoned and denied access to internet and communication for 10 year, on regaining freedom what's the first thing you will do?
My answer: I will ask for a mobile phone or a laptop to check the Bitcoin price Grin
She exclaimed that it is weird that I love bitcoin that much. She proceeded to ask if I am sure bitcoin will still be around in 10yrs time and what value will it have.
My answer: Things change alot, 5 years is alot for many things to happen let alone 10 years. However, I believe bitcoin will be around and it might worth between 100k to 300k dollars.

When it comes to bitcoin, and in that interview, it also seems to make sense because even if it is assumed that he will be imprisoned for 10 years, he is still thinking more about the long-term holdings of bitcoin within 10 years. At least at that point, somehow, when he was released, he still had wealth that had a small value before; suddenly, the value was high after his release after a decade.

Which for me is a good decision, even though he doesn't have a 100% idea if the value of Bitcoin will really increase after the passage of time. The interview was good, and there was actually a lesson.

Of course bitcoin will still be around in the next 10years, with the look of things,I think there will still be a massive increase in the value in the next 10years, though is very hard to predict the future because a lot of things can change in the next 10years even most of this coin can even have the potential to increase to the current value of bitcoin in the next 10years. we can't really predict what will happen then, but is obvious that a lot of changes will occur in the next 10years.

--snip--
be prepared core devs are already trying to remove legacy key functionality within core. which other wallet that follow core code usually then follow.. so if you disappeared for a decade, expect a headache trying to get wallets of the future from even understanding old key import methods

yep they have for last few years been preparing to remove legacy key import methods and pretend there will be a separate migration tool (eaier to just keep it in core.. but core devs dont care for whats best for users) but funnily enough although preparing to remove legacy key import from core, the irritating narcissist pushing to remove it has not actually built the "separate migration tool" he pretends would be the "promise of backward compatibility"

so be prepared if they are removing legacy soon, expect they will remove other things later..
Thats insane. The seed will be useless in that case. who the hell would allow importing methods to be removed?
--snip--

I think @franky1 refer to Bitcoin Core software, not Bitcoin protocol, CMIIW. But just like Bitcoin Core never support BIP 39 even though it's supported by most wallet, i expect there'll be few wallet which still support importing private key/seed which generate legacy address in the future.

If you can come out of the dark prison after 10 years, surely it will be two halvings from the present time when you will see the light of the sun with Bitcoin. And Bitcoin will definitely exist, and you'll notice the halvings of the past. The price of Bitcoin in the year before the halving is two to three times higher during the bull run the year after the halving. Which we proved in 2020 halving 2021, now 2024 is the year of holding bitcoin halving bitcoin price, bitcoin price double 73 2× of course 150k+ is very likely. 2028 halving bitcoin price must be between (300k -350k). And bitcoin halving in 2032 is highly likely to take place between bitcoin price (600k-700k).

If I were to be asked and interviewed, first things first, I would definitely talk about my family. Imagine the length of time that you all won't be together, maybe this is a common answer I thought of but if it's about financial matters, like what you answered, that's one of the first things I'll ask or look for, especially if you're anxious to know how the market or your investment is doing and that's normal, I don't see it as a weird answer, maybe it really depends on the person's background what his answer to the question will be.

Of course, I would be curious about the bitcoin price when I finally gained back my freedom and that will be some of the questions I would like to ask and search for myself. We have been following the crypto market for years right now and I'm sure most of us are already making bitcoins part of our lives and he rarely misses checking its current price almost every day. Looks like by that time, we are sure that the price already exceeded 100k+ based on its current movement and throughout the years it has increased its price, especially after the bitcoin halving season.

Love Bitcoin but after losing ten years of freedom, it'll be one of the last things on my immediate mind. Soon, eventually, I'd hope, if I had any coin, that it'd be worth a lot and help fund my degeneracy for the remaining years of my life. But I'd be thinking of more... primordial interests on my first taste of freedom.

Particular food, yes. Flesh, very yes.

What do you people all mean about Bitcoin price or family? They waited ten years for you, they can wait a few days more.
