Certain pastors tend to be more concerned with spiritual gifts and the well-being of their congregations, while others are more concerned with material things than things above, and some, because of the country's economic challenges, are encouraging more people to look for comfort in religion, and that this expansion is just an expression of that. It's also worth noting that there are a variety of kinds of churches, each with its own method of ministry and objectives. So merely looking at the figures is insufficient to establish that the church is a developing "business". We must assess the influence that these churches are making on the communities they serve as well as worldwide.

Because of how religion has been followed blindly by some especially in Africa, people are being exploited by some men and women who claim to be called by God to be pastors. There are a few legitimate pastors that were really called by God, but their number cannot be compared to the many who called themselves into it because they realized that they can make easy money from extorting their members. My advice to every Christian is to make sure they always have a personal relationship with God first, before their pastors. If you really know God, you will not be among the many people who can easily be brainwashed by someone who calls themselves a pastor.

I have faith and I believe that some of them are for real but most of these pastors mostly the ones that are into megachurches and purchasing expensive stuff like own jets, sports cars, etc. Those aren't needed for spreading the gospel, they're just giving themselves satisfaction by purchasing that by using the church tithes and offerings. It should be used for salvation but nowadays, it's just too sad that this is the common understanding about churches that they're a business and I can't blame people for thinking like that when they can see how lavishly living the pastors are together with their family.

I don’t know which country you live in and what kind of pastors you have but in my country, if you want to get out of poverty you would not want to become a pastor. Besides, I believe that it takes so much effort to become a pastor that not all men are able to do so if they have decided to become an instrument for the lord then they must have meant it.

All across the world many people are claiming that they are being called by God but they know that’s not true because it’s most likely their greed. They just want the monetary offerings to come to them and that’s it. I think that if money and gifts were taken out of the churches and they do not have anyone giving them anything through any medium, then many pastors will resign and close down the churches.

If by chance you are talking about a controversial pastor in the Philippines that has an allegation of raping and trafficking and exploiting his member then I would say that they are not being called but rather doing it for their own benefits. These kinds of pastors make use of salvation and punishment to condition their followers to follow their commands unquestionably. Creating a church is really profitable once the person is able to establish his doctrines. Since many people have strong belief in the spiritual aspect of life, if the pastor is able to brainwash his followers into committing themselves like what the pastor I mentioned did, making his followers to donate their properties and wealth to the church in exchange for "salvation" then this pastor will be wealthy in no time. Another example of a pastor creating a church to meet his personal and family needs is stated in this article: https://tribuneonlineng.com/pastor-shuts-down-church-after-winning-n100m-sports-bet/ and is also discussed in this thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5446209.0This means not all pastors create churches because of God's calling but because of their personal needs.

Not all pastors are corrupt, selfish and greedy. Most of them went into this genuinely thinking that they want to serve the lord and save the people. Maybe over the course of their career that genuine love and faith disappears and they become someone they never thought they would be.
I do know lots of pastors who have used their titles and authority to deceive and abuse people which is really disgusting but I believe that not all of them turns out to be that way.

Charity is still a business but with the aim of not making profits but distributing all receivables. The definition for all these activities, private jets and luxury so on should be that it aligns with government policy to help the poor etc. If a company like these are essentially does not justify their tax free status then they lose it.
Thats fair to all and clearly observable and see through as per the tax returns for that company/organization/charity. If you give people tax breaks for anything really we see them rush to it, sometimes destructively.

Maybe what you mean are megachurches, they're the ones that are doing the most vile things ever, asking for money from their followers to fund their luxurious lifestyle and all of it is tax free because they're considered a religious organization so yes it's definitely a really big business, that's how it is for religious organizations all over the world. That's why whenever the church or any religious organization talks about something that's against their morals and that it affects the people, I don't really pay them no heed or listen to them, unless they finally pay their taxes, they can meddle with the policies that involve us normal citizens.

That's 100% true. When a man enters the ministry for the first time, the intentions were pure with a slight aim to earn money of course. But as time passed by, when a pastor or a priests learned the ropes and knew how to have money easily. Priest and pastors may not be an easy profession as they are like running their own government, they are supposed to be a separate entity from politics, but what happened is that most of the religions are now tied with politics, so most likely most of the religion are now pure business.

There’s always a bad wolf in every organization, either foundation, churches and other non profit organizations always have a people that want to abuse it. Churches in general is not a business but rather some people are abusing it to scam their members. There’s a lot of religious group here that turn into cut because the founder/leader abused their member financially and physically. Churches has no taxes that’s why it’s frequently being use to gain wealth through scamming. I’m a regular attendees of our church but financial growth of leaders is something that I don’t pay attention because they deserve it for their sacrifices with their members. But of course I will not disregard that there’s always a fake church.

I don’t see it as a business. Maybe the wealth you see in pastors or priests is something they already had, or it could also be their family's wealth. As far as I know, it's expensive to study if you want to become a priest, so only wealthy people can afford to pursue that path. The growth of churches can be seen as a positive sign of increased religious devotion and community building. Churches often provide important services to their communities, such as charity work and spiritual guidance.
The wealth accumulated by some pastors could be used to further these community services. The primary purpose of a church is not to generate wealth but to serve as a place of worship and community. If a church or pastor is primarily focused on wealth accumulation, it could be seen as a deviation from these core values.

That is true, the rate at which churches have flooded everywhere is very annoying. Church was a place to praise and worship God but has really turned to a place of business. I know that there are churches with good intentions whom are doing marvelously and wonderfully well according to the instruction of God. but many are just there to decicieve people and indirectly extort money from them. Most of them go as far as going to bible school and learn alot about the bible and acquire powers and perform signs and wonders.

This is a controversial topic and opinions may vary. Some people believe that there are genuine pastors who are called by God to serve in the ministry and provide spiritual guidance to their congregation. They may see the wealth and success of some pastors as a result of their dedication and hard work in spreading the word of God.

In reality, in our world today, there are other pastors who just use the title of pastor to turn the church into a business through the offerings that are taken from the members. And the others are looking for sponsors for their church, and when they find someone to sponsor or donate to the church, they are very happy, of course.
But I don't think all pastors are like that; even in other religions, it's also like that, so if I really look at it, CEOs or heads of a church make them a business. Think about starting from nothing, and then when you grew up, you suddenly had a nice house, nice cars, and nice businesses. Where did that come from? They don't have a job, so the only source is the offerings, sponsorships, and donations; that's all.

These are very disappointing. Religion can never be a means of business. Much of the world has not degenerated. Humanity seems to be decreasing day by day. We should take note of these and show these dishonest people the right path. Because not everything goes with everything. Religion is not a business. One should never play any kind of joke on religion or think of earning money on dishonest feet. Every religion teaches us morality. A person who believes in a religion and is honest about it is the hallmark of an ideal person.

One can never know which pastor was called or not, but all of them would say that God called me. It is bad if anyone is opening a church for business, when church should be a sacred place for worship, and not for making money. Those pastors that turns the church into a money making ministry would live to regret their actions.
It is better that as a Christian, you have a particular church that you are attending and don't move from one church to the other, because that is how you will meet a a fake pastor that will end up scaming you. The fact remains that people can easily get scammed or decieved by these pastors, because they are looking for breakthrough, without working on their characters.

The majority of these charismatic pastors are running churches just for profit-making. Before now Christian missionaries were selfless and contributed to the development of society. They assisted in building schools, hospitals, orphanages, and many others. They were not so concerned about offerings and tithes from members because they were focused on helping the poor. These churches received donations from the rich and redistributed them to the downtrodden in society. Religious leaders were not living in affluence while church members lived in penury. Today these pastors encourage the people to give all they have to God even when these members are living in poverty. All the resources that came into the church both financially and otherwise were shared among members in need. They use these funds to build schools and hospitals that members cannot afford. Most people who go to these church establishments are the rich in society. Pastors now have private jets and yachts and I wonder what they need these things for while members can't provide basic needs. I am not against people who still give to churches but I have decided to channel my offerings to meet the needs of widows, orphans, and prisoners in my location.

Infact the rate at which GOD is calling people into the ministry is what gave me concerned as I have been waiting for the same call but is not forth coming,
If you are interested in the church things, you can call yourself like some pastors have also done then you go into the church business and start doing what they are doing but remember there are repercussions to what we do including deceiving the people . Guys let discuss what do you think about this, are these pastor's really being called or they are just looking for a way out of economic hardship
Church is in the class of non profit organization but what we see these days especially in Africa has really left someone to a big surprise. Church is now run as a profit organization but its dividend is not shared among the people but just a few or only the pastor who decides who to bring in or not. The pastor who is seen as the owner of the church takes all and that is why you see them living luxury life style and riding on jets. Even the schools owned by churches that are suppose to cater for the education of the downtrodden in the church isn't doing that. Schools that are owned by churches are quite expensive and when all these profits are gathered from all the church businesses like a profit making organizations, it is not shared among members but just the pastor, of course that is why some glutton runs into owning a church.
