Do you mean do they send an OTP to your phone number? No, they don't but they will send you an activation link to your email address which you need to click to activate your account.

For instance, perhaps you chose a provider that leaked your DNS. Being on a non-dedicated IP could raise an eyebrow as well if several users have already used the same IP.

I'm not sure about the virtual/disposable numbers but I guess some could be keeping a block list of known problematic numbers which they could be distributing across some services. Cheap phone verification services like smspva also recycles their numbers into oblivion lol.
