I clicked pay and a box appeared and quickly disappeared, it said not enough mempool fee, and I went to send tab and under 'status' there is a exclamation mark unpaid, i don't see it history though.
Should I resend or just wait and hope its gone thru?

Perhaps you tried to transact with a mempool much lower than the transaction fee currently required to transact Bitcoin, which is why your transaction is having this issue. The mempool may have been too high at the time you tried to make a Bitcoin transaction, but on the other hand, you may have tried to make a transaction using too little mempool due to which your transaction may not have been completed. It would be best if you take a screenshot of your transaction.

Firstly if your transaction is giving the information unpaid then it hasn’t been broadcasted that either you mistakenly click save instead of pay. But since you said there is a memepool fee error might meant that the server you’re connected to has a minimum of fee set above that which you pay. There is a an icon at the bottom that allows you to change sever to any one but I wouldn’t advise that rather you should increase your transaction fee instead. Check https://mempool.space/ for the fee estimation.

Then go back to send icon again click on the unpaid transaction and you will see pay click it and then it will take you to fee rate adjustment then adjust it to the right one and then confirm your payment and it will show on the history few seconds later as unconfirmed.

If it still persists then use the change severe and change your server or just log out of the electrum wallet and login back in again. This should solve your problem

It means you're paying fees to low, I assume the unpaid status because you send below the purging rates, it's either you wait until the fees drop and your wallet/other nodes to rebroadcast your transaction or you can create a new transaction with higher fees. If you have more coins, you can bump your transactions as long as the RBF enabled.

In electrum wallet RBF is enabled by default.

If it is because you use to low fee, and that is why your transaction is having issues, when the fee drops, your transaction will rebroadcast automatically, and by then, you can go and increase the transaction fee. You will see a message on your transaction telling you to bump the fee, just click on bump fee, and adjust the transaction fee from there.

No one know when it will drop because as long as someone willing to pay higher in order to be confirmed ASAP, it won't drop.

Right click on the transaction > details > broadcast.

If the transaction status on the history tab says “Local” then you know that it has been ejected from the mempool of the electrum server you are connected to and it is time to rebroadcast it. You can do that by right clicking on the transaction, choosing “Details” and then clicking on “Broadcast”.

AFAIK as long as you create the new transaction using a same inputs, you won't paying the fees twice.

You can copy your TXID and check on Bitcoin explorer e.g. mempool, it should be "unconfirmed".

The OP should have found a solution and the transaction may have been completed.
I also often experience this kind of problem because I missed the required gas fee and finally below the recommended gas fee.

But usually it will appear automatically on the gas fee that has been suggested or can be raised higher,
and the RBF system in Electrum is active by default without any more settings.

The lesson from this incident is not to be too hasty in making transactions, see and observe if everything is correct before pressing the send button.
If the network is congested enough, you only need to increase the gas fee or stick with the medium gas fee and wait for a longer time.

The notification does not appear and disappear quickly by itself.

You have to click on x to close that notification tab. If you don't click x to close it, it will not disappear so "There is no quickly disappear".

You will have to rebroadcast your transaction, but first you must understand the notification from Electrum wallet will be You don't have enough fee. There is nothing called as Mempool fee.

In Electrum wallet, you will have two options when increase your transaction fee.

- Preserve payment
- Decrease payment.

If you choose preserve payment while increase the fee, the notification is for it (You don't have enough bitcoin for fee).
You have to choose a second option, Decrease payment, and the transaction will be broadcasted to mempool, and wait for confirmations from miners.

I assume you are talking about adjusting the fees while broadcasting the transaction and if that's the case then more right you move towards then the fee will be higher and expect faster confirmation. To avoid this confusion just select the mempool not ETA, not Static and set the fee for 0.80 mb from the tip.

The transaction couldn't be completed because you don't have enough fees in the first place and am guessing the exclamation mark might simply show that no response was received or it could be due to network reasons perhaps.
You know that there's always a minimum amount that can be sent during a transaction and am guessing you don't either have up to the amount or you simply have to just refresh your device and try again until there's a prompt or notification stating the obvious.
Please be patient for a response before you try again but check to see how much is the required fees to pay.

You don’t need to adjust the dial, the reason is most probably the amount you are trying to send is like the total amount and either you have left very little for the transaction fee which is below the required minimum fee of the server you’re connected to or nothing at all. Just reduce the amount you want to send and leave just enough to cover for the fee rate it should go through. Check the links for fee estimation to know when they will drop.

If the OP waits till the fee has dropped, he will have to broadcast the transaction manually himself because the wallet just saved it as an invoice. RBF wouldn’t also work here because the transaction hasn’t even be broadcasted yet.

What you meant is transaction fee and not gas fee; which is associated with Altcoins, some newbies might mixed it up. As for the RBF it is only possible if the transaction has been broadcasted with low fees and it’s pending or uninformed. But this one still looks like a saved invoice.


Wait OP are you using the wallet with seed or private key. Hope it is not a watch only wallet because that’s how it will save the transaction till you send it to where it will be signed (non-watch only wallet) and then broadcasted

Basically, when a notification appears that there is insufficient balance to pay the mempool fee, then the transaction should not have been broadcast at all.
In order for transactions to occur, you have to take into account transaction fees on Bitcoin's dynamic Blockchain network. Check here: https://mempool.space/ and I prefer to input it manually in Electrum when I want to send BTC. Sorry...Usually Electrum only gives options based on speed, but sometimes it's not very accurate...


However, instead of guessing what actually happened regarding the status of the transaction, my suggestion is to provide a few pictures regarding the transaction... such as screenshots or screen records if necessary... that way, many people will understand better and will also provide suggestions regarding what steps to take. what you have to do.

Stop calling it the gas fee because you're confusing readers by using the wrong terminology.  There is no concept of "gas" on the Bitcoin network. Fees associated with Bitcoin transactions are simply called network fees or transaction fees.

What fee rate did you choose? At the moment, 2.75 sat/vb is probably the lowest you can set. Anything lower than that is being purged in mempool.space (and probably the limit is even less than that if you've connected to a random Electrum server).

This sounds like you set 1 sat/vb. "You gotta pump those numbers up, those are rookie numbers". 

At the moment, you should choose at least 10 sat/vb to have the slight priority.

It's so funny that you called this out but the other replies just tried to help OP, I guess they've read your post and so they ignored the intention to attract us and visit the website on OP's signature, happens a lot of times and to OP, hopefully you do update us about what's happened to your situation, helps a lot if the members knows it got solved and how it was solved.

I am more concerned about paying the invoice twice than the fee.

I don’t think you have actually been reading the other members replies because I still don’t get it. You cannot get a transaction ID for a transaction that hasn’t be broadcasted. The unpaid transaction is just like an invoice you created because the fee you use is way below the minimum fee rate of the sever you’re connected to. Also the network wouldn’t automatically pick that transaction themselves you will have to broadcast it your self. Check the replies on the thread again and adjust your fee or if it is the total balance in the wallet reduce the amount you will send and leave that which will cover for the fees
