If by any chances one endup losing those seed phrase, that same individual as technically lose all his asset without ever thinking of getting it back unless he or she manage to recover that seed phrase from those state of being missing to state of being found.

 This is something folks that are into cryptocurrencies space should always put in their mind keeping their seed phrase safe , just imagine after suffering in accumulating some nice Bitcoin for holding, at the end one endup losing it all just because of careless handling of their seed phrases. Alot of people has loss millions of dollars because of such act , without getting it back. Or sometimes hackers may endup having access to one seed phrase due to the habit of keeping in devices connected to the internet.  So try to avoid such act and always keep your seed phrase in a secure place you cannot easily forget ( because you doing the best keeper, you might go keep am for place you go easily forget). It's true bro, I understand what you are saying because it wouldn't be funny at all that after all this suffering in accumulating Bitcoin and all of it just went down the drain due to carelessness from your own end, it will definitely be heart breaking of a truth,  that's why we should not play with it, like me, where I kept mine, I am very confidence that year in year out it will be safe there and it's offline, so it's very important that as an investor that we are, we need to think security in what ever we are doing, so that we wouldn't lose the small asset we have accumulated over the years.

Seriously this is a huge concern for long term holders, some of them just store the seed phrase somewhere since they do want to use the funds they don’t bother to check if it is ok there or not. Three reasons why you need to check your seed phrase periodically are;

1. Checking the place periodically makes you not to forget where it is placed.

2. Checking periodically will show that it safe there and no one has come to tempered with it.

3. Checking the location helps you to re back it up should the old one is wearing out (that’s if you’re not using steel or other permanent metals.

Base on what OP has to say I don’t see the reason of open source here, we are discussing how you secure your seed phrase. This isn’t a different wallet thing but rather the culture at which you store those seed phrases. An open source software is only advised simply because should their be any changes to the source code it will be revealed by tech savvy people and also should the developers fail to continue with the software can build it back again.  Nothing much to do on how you store your seed phrase

 Is very good to check your wallet seeds phrase some times so that if some thing happen to it, it will be very easy for you to withdraw the coins from the wallet fast before anything will happen to your laptop or phone because once some thing happen to your phone or laptop you use to stored the wallet and you can't find the seeds phrase at the moment show that you have loss those coins forever because there is no way you can recover the wallet and the coins.

Exactly, because it anyone get hold of it Omo, that would be soo bad. Because you misplacing there's still chances of finding it back with proper searching ( expecially when you didn't store it an internet connected devices). Because most people are too lazy sometimes they would just copy it and paste it any in their device, mostly in their smartphones, without thinking of the risk . Like for instance what if that phone went faulty and couldn't be fixed ( that means you have also loss Access to your assets ). Well writing in down in paper still risky, due to any physical attack like water or it getting burnt. That we should keep it safe, like Charles-Tim said having backups like three in different locations. And am going to give that a try because I had only two backups and don't feel safe enough so three would be nice .

People wey just dey join crypto space no sabi how important private key be, if you don lose access to your private key, then if anything happen to your mobile device, you no go fit import your wallet into your new mobile device, if you don lose your private key, you no fit every recover the coin wey dey the wallet again. My humble contributive advise to this is that when you feel some malicious interactions from your seed phases and your instincts whispers you to go and check it out if it's intact and you goes by and see it on different dimension, maybe it's not cordially positioned or placed just the way you kept it, dear investors, quickly check out to your assets there in the wallet and I'd honestly advise that you should make change of wallet since one wallet has its security seed phrases which is unchangeable.

I don lost my seep phrase before for almost a month I no see am though no be only one place I keep am or save am. I save am foe like tree different places.
