Poll: Games of sSkill or Games of Luck

I created this Poll as some members in another Poll wrote they don't like Skill games.

Please give us your explanation as to why you voted the way you did in a friendly and civilized manner.

I know that every player has their preferred game, whether it be games of luck or games of skill, and that is fine.

Regarding Games of Luck we know we are talking about games with money on the table and as everyone knows the casino Games of Luck have an -EV which means the casino has an advantage called the House Edge. In the long run, players lose because they have no control over the outcome. Few examples of Games of Luck are slot machines, roulette, bingo, scratch cards, Blackjack and lottery

In skill games, the outcome is determined by the skill of the player. In games of skill, the better player will be the winner in the long run, because it is not a matter of luck, and there is no House Edge against the player. This means that a skilled player may have the odds in his or her favor.

Secondly, I understand your interest in knowing exactly what the public wants..but how does it affect you if they're doing anything out of their discretion? Not minding if it pays more to follow your steps or not? Do you own a casino?

Could you atleast make some references to the old poll? references like where it was created and the responses that seemed unsatisfactory that you had to create another one in meta.

Both points are true but Game of Skills EV can be more negative than game luck if the players gambling skills suck or other players are much better than them. I'm not skilled enough to compete with professional players which is why I always play luck-based games to avoid being a source of income for other skilled players while relying only on luck gives me a better profit on good days.

It's nearly impossible for dumb players to win on the game of skills while the majority of gamblers are dumb enough since we keep playing even knowing all the games have -EV so obviously the majority here will choose luck-based games.  

@Sandra suggest is valid. You should move this topic on gambling discussion board since this is not about the forum.

Bro, I think you have good points here, but, let me believe you posted this in the Meta section of the forum in error, as the content has nothing to do with the section. I will help you tell a moderator to move it to the gambling section of the forum where it is best fitting and appreciated.

Notwithstanding, I voted for the game of skills. I do not see it as a wise option to vote for the game of luck. That means that I will rely on luck and the algorithm that the system works with, that's a way to tie the fate of the outcome to what you can't control. That'll give me more stress when I have a better option of skill. However, I would like you to point to an example of the skills game. I quite understand what you explained there but you never gave an example of it. I mean the example that would be better related to the commercial casino games.

For me, skills are required in some games truly, but luck is also important as no one knows the outcome of what will happen no matter how skilful we are in playing the game. Be it casino or sports betting, skills and luck will play their vital roles, but in either of the two, the skills may be needed more in one and luck may be needed more in the other.

Concerning skilled games or not, we all have our individual preference when it comes to playing games while gambling, it also have to depend on the kind of game in question in which we are playing, some games are by how skillful we appear while some are totally by luck, so we should first define what category of games we are good at and which do we want to go for and gamble, but we have them both mixed experience in gambling.

I voted for both, which would be great because I use both options to place bets once in a while, and which game I choose to play is based on my mood and the time I have at that moment. 
 
There are times when I will have little money on my betting account and I will want to try out luck to see if anything can come out of it. At that very moment, I choose to play slot games and other simple games that are based on luck.
 
Anytime I also want to try out my prediction skills, I like to go to sports games where I can try out a few matches, make some predictions, and watch the match play live to see how the game will turn out.

Luck will always be the determinant of winning and losing outcome. Even with skill based gambling games, it would play a keyrole in order to win. Skills on skill based is simply integrating an analysis on what you would bet your money with. I think this is evident with card games and sports betting. With card games, a gambler count opponent card or note of the possible cards to appear, also with bluffing and such. With sportsbetting, it is using the statistics of a team or fighters you would bet into. Other skill is betting against or in accordance with odds. But again, if you're not lucky then you'd more likely lose, that's just it. Despite of this, I still prefer betting using analysis to lessen the risk of losing 'tho it won't guarantee the outcome, why won't we maximize the chances if it would somehow help right?

Because some people just want to have some fun, they may find skill games cumbersome to learn. They will just prefer to gamble for fun and play mostly the luck based games. It is not every gambler that has the time to commit to learning a new skill, some others just do not think that gambling is something they should be too committed towards learning a skill in it. I am just speaking some perspectives that I think gamblers who are more interested in luck based games may have.

I chose game of skill, I don't have problems with games that entirely rely on luck but for me skill based games are much more engaging and entertaining compared to the gambling games that entirely rely on luck and it makes my gambling experience much more worthwhile.

You gave examples of luck based games, so out of curiosity, what games do you consider as skill based?

Regarding if I own a casino, not right now, but I had a fairly well known casino years ago with the name Jackpotracer House of Games on the Moneypot platform. unfortunately the owners did a rug pull. What I want to say is that I am very knowledgeable regarding casino games and skill games.

We all have our own style when it comes to gaming.  Some peeps like games that rely more on luck, like slots or dice rolls or whatever.  Others are all about games that test your smarts and skills.  Either way is cool with me.

For me, I'm definitely more of a skill game guy myself and  love wiping the floor with some poor sucker who thought he could take me on in some good shooter or some epic questing game.  But hey, I love the thrill of games of chance too.  There's just something exciting about watching those slot machine wheels spin and hoping you hit the jackpot.  Even if the odds are usually stacked against you in the casino.

That whole house edge thing definitely sucks if you ask me.  But I guess it makes sense - the casinos gotta pay the bills somehow right? And for a few lucky winners to cash out big a ton more folks gotta lose.  Kinda sucks, but it is what it is.

I also went for skill games; though there are only a few games that I know how to play very well, I can boast of beating my opponents if they are not too skilled in that game.

But still, the majority of my total played games are on games of luck (due to the site I use), but if I'm presented with a site that's well designed and also offers games that require the skill of the user, I'll switch over to it without any hesitation.

Either way, there's no doubt that both of those need luck - even skill-based games.

Though the difference is, that there are sort of ways to increase our winning chance at skill-based games rather than relying purely on luck on luck-based games. It's somehow boring to me if I just keep gambling on one of them. Since I can also take advantage of my skills in such skill-based games, why not use that as another way to increase my chances of winning

Well, I chose my vote in for both skill and luck based games combined. This choice is from my experience and believe that the most entertaining gambling games experiences often combine the lines between skill and chance. Such games like poker or blackjack offer the best of both worlds, the thrill of strategies and sometimes you need luck to win bigger.
Games that integrate both aspects tend to be more popular and known, providing better experience even within the same session, Personally I enjoy playing Poker since it’s a combination between luck and skills where even newbies sometimes with their luck manage to win against experienced and skilled players.

If a casino were to offer a skill game where one player plays against one player, such as chess, they would not make any money/cryptos as they have no house edge and do not ask for any %age from the winner.

but there are following options which IMHO could be better

The casino could offer a tournament for many players with free entry and prizes for 1st place or 1st - 5th place or whatever, but the prizes will be 100% of their entry fee, so the casino will give it all back to the winners of the tournament.

The casino could also offer free roll Tournaments with prizes for  1st place or 1st - 5th place or whatever.
This would be a great advertisement for the casino and please remember that casinos advertise anyway just like the signature campaigns and have their advertising budget. IMHO, it would attract many new players and get the forum talking. This is in turn would be good for their signature campaigns.

Another option is a multi-player skill game tournament with a different gimmick, where participants have a lot of fun and are incentivized to participate with an entry fee. This option could be a win-win for both sides.
I apologize for not being able to go into more detail, as this is exactly what I and the developers are working on at the moment.

Both of them would be great.

However, I have been too lazy to learn Poker or BlackJack which are some skill based games. I like Poker because I have also thought the bluffing to be humorous and intriguing at the same time. The share amount of skill that comes with the this particular game where it is like you win or loss lies in your own hands.

I have stuck with the games of luck more. It is thrilling and gives you a rush of the nice hormones. I also like it because , if you live alone and are disciplined enough, slots are a highly recommended. Just had a long day? Try slots? feeling sad, disappointed, try slots.

In terms of entertainment, I'd pick games of luck over games of skill. Luck is a certain element that is hard to beat, and it leaves you clinching your butt hoping that Lady Luck favors you in that particular session. It also leaves you at the mercy of RNGesus and you can't do something to alter it, which makes it all the more fun because you are not expecting to win, you are hoping to.

As for games of skill, you only choose this if you are confident enough with yourself that you're gonna win. There's also certain expectations set to yourself when you participate in such, and if that expectations aren't met, you end up getting disappointed thinking that you could have done X in order to win.. until it messes with your whole day or even week.

Generally, I'm clinging towards a balance of entertainment and profit, and I still play both and quite enjoy them. I'm into sports betting lately, but when I have the time or I want to chill, I deposit a couple of dollars in my local casino and just play slots for an hour or two.

In this case, whether you play games based on luck or skill, depends on your mood. But if you do really want to have higher chance of winning, I would prefer to focus on skill games. That is, if you are interested to really make profit out of your games.
But if you are just playing for the fun of it, of course, luck-based games are quite great as you don't need to think about your games in serious mode.
