As promised, here is the PDF document showing chapters 2008/09 to 2016 (still have the summary pages to complete):

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1M8z4M4oV4WC_aIGWkn-tO_T7Nkllj47C/view?usp=sharing

Please leave comments, feedback and suggestions for improvement in this thread.  The current thread for the book is:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5475400.0

I will strive to finish the chapters for 2017 to 30th June 2024 (nearly 50% complete) by this summer.  Please show generosity and donate to help me complete the Bitcoin History 2008-2024 book by 12th September 2024:

$BTC bc1qktyzg2atx5paka2x64pxdwg54u7m2yn3cu2qxy

$LTC ltc1qz8jqkhy264q3mdjkjzsve7er25qdnmmvxt96lr

$ETH 0x125288bAf499e26259f8E2aC6FC5fE1491aBa9c2

$DOGE DRj7PWEz5zxHc5ptkTBapKjCrxQU75CB6q

$XRP r9LbXGJ9HCdwvAhKWJJLihSd8612xHybv7

With sufficient help, I know the book will be completed by September 2024.  Thank you in advance for your support and feedback.

UPDATE: 18/04/2024

Great news!

I'm still making constructive progress.  Currently I'm completing chapter 2019, which I hope will be finished within the next week.

The screenshots are thumbnails of pages 178 to 214 covering January 2017 to March 2019:

Please support the book if you can.  There is only myself who has spent over one year writing it.

P.S. If you donate at least US$10, you will have your name/alias listed in the book!

Very good... I downloaded it and I'm going to start reading, the work is beautiful and it seems incredible... I'm going to read it and then come back here to tell you what I thought.

Is there a possibility of having a physical version?

The link shows 2008 to 2016. The full 2008 to 2024 physical book will be self-published in September 2024.

This is a very good and impressive effort in creating a physical reading material on bitcoin for the use of everyone interested in learning through the past history of bitcoin, i want to believe that when the whole chapters have been completed, it's going to be still available for anyone to download free, because it requires a lot of time and writing down a book and not only that, you will also need a financial contribution towards the success of the project, i wish you the very best of luck till the launch is fully achieved.

Thank you for replying. Only a few people have financially supported my work. I have made the 2008 to 2016 period freely available for the community in order for some to gain an insight into what the complete book will look like.

The Bitcoin community has become more selfish, unfortunately, over the last several years. I hope some prove me wrong, and support great projects in the community. Life is about making things a reality.

I have 5-6 months to complete the book.

Who knows more about Bitcoin after reading the above 128 pages (2008 to 2016)?

I look forward to feedback and hopefully community support.

The fact that you are just posting the book here for free is impressive  Grin

It is definitely helpful to have basically a history book but for bitcoin. I know many beginners lose optimism and interest for bitcoin because they feel overwhelmed and lost. They can’t figure out where to find specific information so to have everything here all in one is definitely game changer!

Can’t wait for the rest of the book and good luck to the rest of your journey!

I hope this book of yours gets published all over the world.

Learning the history of bitcoin would be very helpful in trying to predict the future. For us investors and traders, history is and always has been our basis. It is basically our fundamental step in investing: learning and analyzing its history. Truly informative and inspiring book. I wish you all the success and all the support from the community.

Really enjoying this.

Cleanly written and it doesn't get bogged down in minutia.

I'm about 1/4 of the way through this book and I definitely agree that it is important that anyone involved in Bitcoin has a full understanding of it's origin and associated timelines. I have been involved in Bitcoin for a long time and thought I was very familiar with key events, but I wanted to share a snippet of some new things that I learnt and took notes on, so others can read it and hopefully be inspired to read the book themselves:

(1) Satoshi disappeared from BitcoinTalk forum in December 2010, ~2-3 days after an article was released by PC world on WikiLeaks potentially adopting BTC as an option for donations (Page 77).

(2) Gavin Anderson had accepted to speak at the CIA on Bitcoin, and told Satoshi by email and BitcoinTalk forum about this on 27th April 2011. Satoshi's last communication was earlier that week on 23rd April 2011 to Gavin (Page 86).

(3) I had no idea the role Silk Road played in the price increase for Bitcoin from $1 USD in Feb 2011 to $31.91 in June 2011.

(4) The BTC fiat price increased by 41,683% in 2010.

(5) I completely forgot about the "value overflow incident" for Bitcoin code CVE-2010-5139 which due to a bug created 92 billion BTC (Page 73), but was removed with a soft fork.

So many lessons from reading this, thank you.

Sent some dog money -- keep up the good work.

I wish had some constructive feedback, but so far I'm just enjoying it all, especially the side-bars.

Fun fact: I interviewed for Jed McCaleb, but on his earlier project, eDonkey2000. He's a sharp guy.
