Recently I bought around 1000 dollars of litecoin (I sold 1000 dollars of my bitcoin for it) and I've already made a 20% gain. I decided to buy more LTC by selling the 690 dollars of shib bringing the grand total of my litecoin to 2000 dollars USD. Is this bad or does LTC have a future? I've seen a lot about how LTC has a possible ETF in the far future. I am a long holder (5 years at least) btw.

Any decision that involves selling shit meme coin to a project with real utility in crypto space is good. Litecoin is one of the OG blockchain in crypto that is hard fork on Bitcoin. Converting your asset from Shib which pump a lot already to Litecoin is a good move since  LTC still has a lot of potential to pump more in the future because this project is for long term unlike meme coin that doesn’t have an end goal.

Maybe focus on Ethereum if you are looking for forward for an ETF approval since it’s the closest project to receive an ETF. The rest will just follow when Eth ETF approved.

For sure ETH has an ETF on the way but ETH doesn't have much room to grow in my opinion. Litecoin has a much lower market cap than ETH. It's risky but I can't go on with my life without taking risks. FOMO...

That's a radical decision which you have made and I hope you would have taken calculated risk because selling BTC for any Altcoins are not suggested but yeah if you have a strategy you can go ahead because LTC may provide better return but I would not invest into it as I have not seen any recent developments in the project and other altcoins offer better speed now.

I don't advise anyone to sell their Bitcoin for altcoin no matter what, most person who sold their Bitcoin in the early days have come to regret their actions, and I still think same thing will happen in the nearest future to come. So it better to hold steady and patiently besides, the ETF approval of Litecoin as you said is still very far from now, so selling Bitcoin or any other trustworthy coin to buy Litecoin that has been existing for years but don't have the capacity to be listed among the first top 10 coins.

Sentimentally, I think LTC should do well considering that it's still way below its ATH. If you allow me to make a prediction here, I think it will do up to $400+. At the moment, the price of LTC is disappointing anyway. I bought a few of it a few days to its current halving around $84 or so in expectation that price would fly like what we've known Bitcoin for. Surprisingly, price dipped after its halving even till date. If it ever has an ETF in the future, it may (just saying) not push price up like a Bitcoin ETF did. I'm still hodling to see what happens to its price this bull season but I won't be hodling that long like you.

You're doing well, honestly and you can keep doing that this time while the market is in the bullish condition. But in asking if Litecoin is worth investing in, I would say YES. Not in a state that we consider this as the best option to take but granting that this project has been in the market for many years and still performing well, you will never regret it rather than buying shitcoins.
Sell your Shiba Inu while still in the hype and invest in more valuable coins like LTC, ETH, and Matic. However, don't force yourselves to do that if you feel uncomfortable. Besides, you are a holder and have market experience, you already know what you gonna do.

When I read the title that OP sold his Shiba for LTC, I had no issues with that. But as I opened the body of the thread, I discovered that he also sold his bitcoin to acquire LTC. What I have to say is that, I am sure LTC will be around in 5 years time, definitely OP will still be in profits. Assuming he sold it and bought some random shitcoins, i would gave been mad at him. However, talking about regretting selling bitcoin, everyone at one time or the other will regret this.

Litecoin is promising but not comparable to bitcoin that have dominated grounds. Bitcoin is important, I've bagged good amounts of bitcoin because I'm set to smile when the bull season comes. Altcoins are simply the projects to wake up for because it have always been the top trends to talk about in the market. We should emphasize on the basis of the market, always bringing through the top because shocked shouldn't be expected. Decisions are made based on our strategy, creating awareness for the market because it's risky in every sector.

If you already have made your own research then have pride to take the risk because it's your own money and you have the full authority where to invest it. we can only give you suggestions but if you already finalized your decision, make it happen and be one of those unique investors who whatever happens in the crypto market, you are ready to risk it all and wait for that long period to make your dream investment come true. Yes! it's not that easy because of the high risk but if they really approve it and count it as one of the possible ETFs, then you have hit the jackpot by just spending a decent amount of money on your investment.

im not really so sure with litecoin honestly its low market cap is with a reason its an old coin that people don't really look into when they are trying to invest, same case with other coin that are formerly in the top 5 but tanked and then decreased in ranks there's always rotation for the top ranked coin as the seasons change so litecoin don't really have that much potential as you might think it have or at least thats from my point of view.
i will better off investing in a coin thats new that have never yet to reach all time high but also have quite high market cap and is also being backed by reputable investors like those new L2 but thats just me alright.
with the fact that there's no meaningful innovation coming from ltc i don't really think its gonna have any eventful future that gonna make the price increase in any way.
but thats up to you at the end of the day, always make analysis based on your own.

In my personal opinion, selling all your Bitcoin to buy into altcoins isn't a sound strategy. If you had held onto your Bitcoin for five years instead of LTC, the potential returns might have been greater. Bitcoin's long-term potential is widely recognized, and many investors believe in its long-term growth. While LTC has its merits, banking solely on it for long-term gains may not be prudent, especially considering the evolution of other coins that have outpaced its original purpose. While you've made profits, I'd recommend prioritizing Bitcoin for long-term investments and exploring altcoins for shorter to mid-term opportunities.

However, talking about regretting selling bitcoin, everyone at one time or the other will regret this.

Regret is constant when you don't follow the right procedure. Though the crypto market is very difficult to predict due to the volatility and factors that can influence the price movement, but Bitcoin is the most easiest coin to predict and aside that, the most reputable and trustworthy coin. The reason I quoted the op was the fact that he sold his Bitcoin, for a coin that doesn't have any potential for now. Just because Litecoin pumped a bit doesn't make it better than Bitcoin. Even if you choose to be specific with time, by saying Bitcoin price correction would soon take place, after the price correction come the bulls again and that is before the 5 years he Intend Litecoin ETF would get approved.

Selling Bitcoin for Litecoin according to me is a bad decision. You could have sold the meme coin to buy Litecoin and you would have gained the same profit. Bitcoin is not for short term gain it is for long term gain. After halving there would a surge in the price of Bitcoin. That doesn't mean that altcoins will will also do the same. All altcoins are still below their ATH but Bitcoin already broke its previous ATH.

I do not think that was a bad thing for you to do. I do hodl some Litcoin and think it is a alt coin that is good for us to have in our crypto portfolios. It does cost not alot to send it for the fees.

And Litecoin does have a limited supply like Bitcoin does. So if you are 'bullish' for Bitcoin you can also feel the same for Litecoin.

I can't support this enough. This is a great idea and you made the right choice. Shiba is something that would be good for just a while, Litecoin is something that will be great until crypto world ends one day and I bet that our life would not be enough to see that, I bet that we are going to end up seeing it go on until we die. Litecoin will be here for 40 more years at least, whereas Shiba will not be anywhere in 10 years, for sure.

People made it go up because it was a meme and it got trendy and people hyped it, but that was it, it is going to end soon and people will regret ever putting their money into it. I remember very clearly people begging Elon to talk about doge again so they could recover the huge losses they made.

That's already quite a long time, 5 years and counting. What made you HODL LTC in the first place? Why change your mind now?

Are you in it for the profit? Or because you believe in it?

Why many people regret of selling their bitcoin prematurely is not only because of the volatility of Bitcoin, another big factor to consider is ignorance. It is not everyone that is in Bitcoin that trust Bitcoin. Most of the newbies do not have any belief in Bitcoin, they just think that bitcoin is a random altcoins that will disappear any moment. Even the established members do not also have belief in Bitcoin. Myself at a point I regretted following the information of investing only what you are able to lose. Assuming I didn't follow the instruction of investing what you are able to lose, I would have been in good money by now because I have had the opportunity to invest much when bitcoin was at 15k region, but was restricted by thr rules.

I don't want to speculate whether it was the right decision or not. Because the OP definitely has his own mature and well-managed interests. Litecoin, it is one of the old coins which is still surviving even amidst the onslaught of new coins or tokens emerging. It's just that, indeed, the price increase is not too significant. Indeed, the fundamentals are good, the use cases are also good. However, currently there are quite a lot of competitors. Because of this, LTC's ranking also dropped further.

I also still have LTC. but so far, I haven't had the courage to convert my coins to LTC again. Because in the bullish past era, I had a bit of a bad experience with this coin so in the end, I still have to hold it until now.

Well, I'm wondering why you ask this question since you have been holding LTC for 5 years. Because for that long, it was impossible if you didn't have faith and trust in this project. Of course, I won't say that is a good option to sell Shiba for Litecoin but it was you who could decide in the first place. As an investor, we already know the right thing to do and if you think that buying more LTC is an earning opportunity and believing this will grow in the future, then do it.

I'm not sure how LTC ETF affects the price of LTC but don't overthink about it. If you are profiting already then good for you but don't assume this will be the same in the future.

it's not good to choose a bitcoin over an altcoin because bitcoin have a more potential than altcoins, the reason why you don't need to seell all your bitcoin in replacement of altcoins is because when the price of bitcoin falls both the altcoins depreciate in value and it looks as if bitcoin controlled the increment of altcoins from my perspective.. what you have done is to divide the capital into two and purchase litecoin and still have reserved of bitcoin in your portfolio.

It's bad since you are a little shrimp but you buy litecoin which didn't have good volatility. If i were you then i will try to focus on RWA token which potentially to be the next trend since blackrock has announced its tokenized. It means that you will be massive companies to go through tokenization asset in the future.
Litecoin will not give you instant money and you needs to perform it even better. Think about that. The better if you are investing on the token which has lower marketcap compared to the litecoin. Just try to understand that if you are willing to get maximum profit and you shall take the risk.

I've seen a lot about how LTC has a possible ETF in the far future. I am a long holder (5 years at least) btw.
So, why don't go to the tokens which have less marketcap? You can make a lot of money if you were investing in the hidden gem. Think about that.
Sometimes a token failed and investing in a token that is cheap you have to be extremely careful because so many of the tokens lacks potential and any side news or negative news that affects bitcoin can make them to fall drastically out of the market, so therefore I believe that we have to understand the kind of token we want invest on and make a proper research of its furtherance before we can invest on them..basically people like to invest in altcoins because they feel that in altcoins investment they will make a profit more than all the pronounced or already known coins.

It's not a bad one but I fear as you began to sell your assets to rest on coin.
You should understand the need for diversification of your investment is IN CASE the market didn't go well at the other side, you can always have the alternative to covering up with your incomes. It would always help you manage your income revenues carefully and most productively in expanding your income sources.
in cryptocurrency investment you don't need to depend on one particular portfolio and what will make you to not fall apart when cryptocurrency especially bitcoin began to fall and it will not affect you much is when you have diversification of portfolio,  because some of the altcoins use to die off during the process of bearish season especially when the bearish is been elongated, it can be that bitcoin and ethereum may be only coin that will stand to continue to exist during the time of bearish...so that is the major reason why we have to diversify our portfolio and not to channel our income to one particular coin.

I think you should invest in more than one cryptocurrency. The advantage is that when there’s a reduction in value of one of them, the others can still hold your balance to be decent. The case where a diversified portfolio will be in a big loss would be in an obvious bear market. So I think you should diversify.

Also, ETF doesn’t mean success. With or without Bitcoin ETF, bitcoin would still break ATH. So litecoin’s success isn’t tied to possible ETF.
